We hiked through the pigeon valley from Goreme and stumbled on this place, after passing all the higher end resorts. It was exactly what we wanted, a beautiful room lined with rugs and cushions, where we were served a delicious home-cooked meal by the singing waiter/chef, who let me try out one of the instruments. The baklava was to die for.

Arriving in Uchisar for the afternoon, this is the first place we came across serving food. It looked very quiet, but we were so hungry that we decided to give it a go. We sat upstairs on the covered roof terrace which gave us a stunning view of the rock formations in the valley below.
Not long after we arrived, a large walking tour group turned up and suddenly the place was buzzing. The chef had a penchant for singing which only added to the newly established atmosphere. We ordered some lamb meatballs which were freshly prepared and cooked on the bbq at the entrance to the restaurant which we could see from our bird's eye view. The smell made our mouths water. The food arrived with the usual accompaniments of rice, chips and salad and the meatballs were sizzling. They were so succulent and garlicy, we thought that they might be the best meatballs ever. This may be where the name of the restaurant comes in, as that garlicy flavour was a memory that lasted long after we'd left Uchisar!

This small, informal cafe with low tables and seating on cushions was a great find in Uchisar. On our first visit, we had grilled kebabs which were tasty and good value. Also eating were a family from Istanbul who had ordered testi kebab in advance. The owner, chef, waiter and singing entertainer, Bayram, gave us a little of their testi kebab -- a speciality of the region -- to taste (slightly to our embarrassment, though the family were very friendly about it).

It was absolutely delicious, so a couple of days later we went back for it ourselves. Bayram needed 4 hours notice to cook it. After our long walk through the valleys, our melt-in-the-mouth lamb was a well deserved reward. If you find yourself in Uchisar and can order your testi kebab in advance I would highly recommend a visit. I will certainly be going again next time I'm in Uchisar.

Don't expect a chic and polished fine dining experience but do expect a warm welcome and delicious food that won't break the bank.

This is a real fun place, with great local food, a singing chef, a choice of eating settings and a great cat circus.

this was a small restaurant in an area surrounded by high-end resorts and their restaurants. We wanted something quick, Turksih cuisine and nothing upscale for atmosphere or etc. This place had great food and felt like a local eatery. Great for the value and a very nice and pleasant owner.
