I have visited this hotel many times. Each time since she has started operating, there was someone with a big welcoming smile in his face. First of all, i am sure it will never fade away. Once you step in, someone like that will greet you and will be at your disposal for any requests. That will make you feel that you really own the place since the staff, from the owner to the HK, will be devoting themselves to satisfy you. Thank you very much Apo, for your hospitality again tonight and wish you a fruitfull season in 2015.

Everything about this hotel was great! It was almost magical how charming all of the rooms were. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Our only regret was not staying here longer. We hope we can make it back here someday.

A beautifully appointed cave hotel dug into the highest cliff in the Cappodocia region. Overlooking Pigeon Valley on one side (ancient cave dwellings, weird rock outcroppings -a must-do hike)--and the iconic Uchisar cave castle on the other. Breakfast is tasty and abundant. The service is kind. Our cave room was beautifully appointed and luxurious. The Turkish bath was free. Abdullah, the proprietor speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable: he makes things happen ( a guide, a taxi, a reservation)- and the rest of the staff are willing and friendly, though at breakfast (outdoors, overlooking the valley) you might need to be a little bit patient if all the tables fill at once. But, dear traveler, you should be patient, taking time to enjoy the astounding view, the sunshine, the reality that you are visiting one of amazing places on earth.

Room Tip: If your budget allows, ask for a cave room. It definitely adds to the experience. Also make sure to explore the rest of the hotel: the cave goes is dug deep into the cliff with lots of rooms (some less expensive) deep underground.

We have traveled widely in Europe, the US, and Canada, some in Mexico; Uchisar is the most marvelous place of any we have seen, and not just in Turkey--- ANYWHERE. Our daughter (who has traveled all over the world) insisted we go there as she feels the same way, and we are so glad we did. It is magical and so exotic. Staying at Kale Konak Hotel was the heart of our fantastic experience. We saw a TripAdvisor review in which someone had raved about owner-manager Abdullah Guney, who had gone out of his way to help arrange her wedding. We asked via email for two view rooms of Pigeon Valley (containing a well-known hiking path from Uchisar to Goreme past ancient cave homes and their old gardens), the rooms not necessarily needing to be close to each other. We arrived there via rented car (winding up the narrow stone streets to the Castle at the top of the hill where Kale Konak is) to find a very warm and smiling Abdullah outside in front with his adorable little dog. He told us the "bad news"-- that he had upgraded us to one view suite and one view room (for lack of availability of two view rooms next to each other), both in the same romantic stone building. We won the coin toss and got the suite (tho the other room was gorgeous, also with luxurious bath). We found our own sitting room and colonnaded terrace, both with antique fireplaces and lovely furnishings, and the terrace having a small winding vaulted stone staircase to our own rooftop terrace above. The huge bedroom was of golden stone, barrel-vaulted, with exquisite appointments and touches, and views of miles and miles of ancient stone cave houses and agricultural areas, plus Pigeon Valley. The bathroom too was absolutely lovely and amazing. Our building, one of several making up the hotel, consisted of both cave rooms and stone-vaulted rooms, and charming, winding stone staircases (lit by candle-like antique electric fixtures) that twisted and turned, up and down, to other rooms. There are: a large, luxurious and gorgeous white marble Turkish bath in a cave area, heated, with massage rooms; inside breakfast room in case of rain, and lovely outside log-roofed and colonnaded terrace breakfast area with panoramic view, next to a garden bar and eating area; romantic courtyards, outside stone stairways and archways (among flowering vines) winding to other rooms in other buildings; and the "Castle" across from the hotel, which is really a hollowed-out mountain of rooms and passages housing 2000 years ago a village of people needing protection from invading Romans. Abdullah's exquisite taste is evident everywhere, and he directs a kitchen producing delicious breakfasts and dinners. Abdullah suggested and arranged for us a trip to an ancient stone caravanserie miles away where we saw a candlelit performance of Whirling Dervishes that was a probably the highlight of our entire trip in Turkey. He was always available, and we had several relaxed and warm chats with just him, learning about his life in Uchisar and in Europe. We are hoping he will visit us in the US.

We were awakened our first morning at dawn before sunrise by the call to prayer (one gets used to it and sleeps), and we remembered Abdullah telling us about the dawn hot-air balloon rides for tourists seen from the hotel. We went up to our rooftop terrace to meet a magical sight: approx. 100 colorful balloons floating silently through the sky all around us for miles. The baskets hold from 12 to 20 people, we were told. At times we could hear the muffled roar of the gas flames heating the air and see the flames as well. We were entranced; our best and most favorite i-Pad video is of those balloons floating in the sky, with the sun rising golden on the horizon.

The hotel is part of a very friendly and charming area up at the top of Uchisar, with many shops and some great places to eat--- esp. Mustafa's. The Turkish coffee in its many forms and baklava were heaven, as well as the most marvelous ice cream in a shop on the large square down the narrow street from the hotel. I walked all over the area so many times that I began to know some of the merchants, who were helpful and friendly. Abdullah recommended some excellent restaurants there at the top part of Uchisar on the main street bordering Pigeon Valley.

I wish I could really articulate our praise for Kale Konak Hotel, Abdullah, and Uchisar. I have told our friends planning trips to Turkey that they absolutely must go to Uchisar and stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Tell Abdullah what you want--- and reserve early. Magical.

What a treat it is to stay here! Beautiful hotel in the most pictoresque of surroundings imaginable! Rooms are cozy, and oozing with warmth and Turkish charm! Every element of the decor is selected with care, from the rich fabrics and carpets, to the wood-crafted furniture and picture frames. All evokes richness, comfort and warmth. But what really gives this place that feel-at home stay is the owner, Abdullah, who is sweet, kind and helpful. Uchisar has a charm that surpasses all other, and so does this pearl of a place! As for the breakfast: fresh, homemade and delicious...loaded with Turkish treats! Enjoy!
