“Unbelievable location but bad food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

Great location, terrific rooms and friendly staff. Juts a magical location. To visit and enjoy and comfortable feeling. Just be carful as the restaurant food was another good for dinner. The wines I tried to order were not available and only the very expensive wines were in stock. Waiter was clueless. The meal was very disappointing as my fish was overlooked and my wife's dinner was tasteless. To the management, fix this problem at dinner and have it perfect

Room Tip: Be prepared to walk up and down a lot of steps

This hotel is perfectly located, just down from the famous "Castle". It's half built into the cave, half built out. The rooms are very spacious - they are suites with large living rooms and fireplaces, with a balcony overlooking a magnificent view. The staff is very nice, though they can be a bit slow moving at times. We had a regular room and our friends booked the larger room. Although their room was larger, ours was plenty big. Cappadocia is a magical place. We had two days there, and I wish we had another day. It's also a great place to shop. Less pressure than the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and the prices were fairly comparable. I also highly recommend the hot air ballon ride - it's a MUST!

The atmosphere of this amazing place is by itself all you need for your vacation to be unforgettable. The minute you set your eyes at this fantastic landscape you are sure that its an unique sight and you feel so lucky and grateful to be there! The Argos is this charming, quiet and cosy hotel with a breathtaking view that manages to stand up to its surroundings. We booked the Splendid Suite and were not dissapointed! Its built inside a cave, its spacious and has a very nice decor. But what really caught our eyes was the indoor heated pool...No, not a tub, a swimming pool! As it was still early afternoon we decided to explore the surroundings. We walked through the small village at the top of the cliff and decided to visit the Ushisar Castle, a roman rock cut castle, the tallest point of the region. We were lucky to get there at the end of the day and managed to view a magnificent sunset, with the most incridible lights! We took a lot of beautiful pictures. Back to the hotel we relaxed in our private pool and had dinner at the hotel. Next day we woke 430am for the balloon ride. At first I was sceptical that it was worth all this trouble but when I got there I was so glad!! OMG, you cannot miss this!! The sight, the sun rising, the balloons all around...Andrew, our pilot was such a nice guy and wonderful pilot. He managed to pass just few meters away from the fairy chimneys! But all very safe! When we got down there was some nice drinks awaiting and all the group helped empty the balloon by stepping on it! After that we had a very full day with our guide that took us to various places (churches, the underground city). We stayed there 2 nights but I would have stayed a third to enjoy a little bit more of this great hotel and peaceful place! Have to mention Vulcan, an employee that was very kind to us during our stay, but all staff was very welcoming.

We really enjoyed this hotel, the staff were lovely and the position of the hotel really beautiful. The room was very quaint, half cave, and extremely comfortable. Three of our group went on the hot air balloon, and said it was the highlight of our tour to Turkey!
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Six of us stayed two nights in this 5 star property in Cappadocia. The welcome at reception was the friendliest of any hotel we had stayed at in Turkey, but it was the views which blew us away! How they ever constructed a hotel in this location is a mystery, but they did, and it was worth every cent to have breakfast outdoors in full view of the awesome landscape of Cappadocia. The rooms vary quite a bit...our's was cozy and comfortable and close to the restaurant and lounge, which was a plus. The only negative to this hotel is the very steep walk down to the rooms from reception and we continually got lost amid all of the twist and turns, so anyone would mobility problems should NOT stay here as the walk UP can be equally challenging. Loved the breakfast buffet.....which included omelets cooked to order....but I thought the dinner was a bit pricey and just average in quality. The lounge, however, was great, and we enjoyed sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine after hot air ballooning in the morning, then touring all day. This is one of those hotels that you remember for a long time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the restaurant. Also, be aware that there is a mineret right in front of the hot...

We arranged a private car pick-up through the hotel from Kayseri airport for €85 ($100) which is good value for an 80km transfer. At the end of our stay we took the shuttle bus from the Argos which was 40TL ($25) for the two of us. It takes about 30 minutes longer but you get a great tour on the way! Our only negative was the check-in procedure which was rushed and unwelcoming - unfortunately Merve who takes care of customer relations was otherwise engaged. Our suite was fabulous and that included the bathroom. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent along with an impressive and affordable wine list. Breakfast was very good as long as you appreciate that not all the wait staff speak perfect English. The "must do" hot air balloon trip with Royal was arranged by the hotel - same price as booking direct. We went for one and half hours which takes you hovering just metres above the Uchisar hotels and the castle. Shorter trip drops you in the valley so glad we spent the extra. Another must do is the hotel tour with Merve - you'll appreciate just what a fantastic concept this place is. The wine cellar is absolutely superb! The walk to Goreme through Pigeon Valley is also excellent but easy to get lost at the start. Best to walk down the road past the Museum Hotel until you see the Pigeon Posts at the start of the path then go straight on, not up the slope on the right, and past the tea house. It's steep and slippy in places so wear good shoes - scenery outstanding. For an evening meal out go to Top Deck in Goreme - a real Turkish experience run by a delightful family but take a taxi as hard to find. Argos is amazing and our 3 nights here were just delightful. It's contemporary, interesting and unique.

In September 6 of us stayed at the Argos in Cappadocia for two nights. We fly in from Antalya and landed in the middle of the night. We were driven through to the Hotel so we arrived very late. Reception was waiting for us and we were all shown to our rooms. Very interesting layout, some of the rooms are in a cave like place, some have balconies looking over the most unbelievable sights you will ever see, some rooms have very tiny windows and no outlook at all. Our room was down some steps under a room that had an outside balcony, while the room was very very interesting, it was basically a cave with the original walls in place. The shower/toilet was up some quite steep stairs. The only thing was that the walls crumbled and I left my suitcase open to find the next morning it was filled with sand. The bed unfortunately also filled with sand and the room was quite cold which I guess in the heat of summer could be a welcome situation. If you do not like maneuvering up steep stairs (elderly people) for showering etc and you are not to fussed about a little bit of the ceiling being in your bed or in your case or as you walk across the floor then these rooms are perfect for you. I would have preferred the room with a view quite honestly but as we were there for two days only, we did not ask to be moved. The area is quite spectacular and the rest of the Hotel certainly was very unusual. Some of our group went up in the hot air balloons and said it was one of the highlights of the whole trip. Worth visiting !!!

Room Tip: Choose your room if you can. Front facing with a view of the valley is in my opinion essential .
