“Top-notch service and peaceful surroundings”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

I love boutique hotels, and this hotel does everything that I love about boutique hotels. The service is just phenomenal, and the staff makes you feel like family. The home-made pastries are delicious (and available whenever you ask for them!), and the decor has just the right modern touches and serves as a beautiful contrast to the ancient surroundings.

So why am I giving this 4 stars instead of 5? Judging by the pictures, it looks like our room was probably one of the least attractive rooms on the property. It was rather close to two other rooms, and the window opened out to one of the main walking pathways. It's impossible to close the window, so it could feel a little open and noisy at times.

I would go again, but I would just make sure to choose one of the more private / fancier rooms. I just wish I had known about this prior to going!

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are happy to hear that you've enjoyed your stay with us!
We are sorry to hear that you had some difficulties with the window. If you informed us, we would happily changed your room to an alternative room.
In 2013, we've opened 3 new superior Suite rooms that are larger and have Turkish hamam-style bathrooms overlooking a separate garden.
We wish to meet you again at Hezen Cave Hotel.
Best regards,

We loved this place. From the welcoming response to our initial inquiry to our warm send off, we couldn't have asked for friendlier or more helpful staff. The hotel was built about 15 years ago and turned over to new management about two years ago. The common areas are thus "new" while our rooms were about 500 years old - though very nicely updated. The decor was what I would venture to call "Turkey Modern", clean and simple with the use of bold color and hints of history - very pleasant and refreshing. The breakfast was plentiful, with a good selection of cheeses, olives etc, plus baked goods (cookies for breakfast anyone?), fresh fruit, cereal as well.

We had four nights, three days in Cappadocia in the middle of a 10-day trip. We took excursions on two of the days, helpfully facilitated by Nil and the other staff, and on the middle day just relaxed in most comfortable surroundings!

Self-service, much- appreciated, laundry facilities were available at no charge; wifi was good though we have no idea how they managed to get the signal through solid rock to our room! The only negative we found was that sound carried easily and the light outside kept the room a bit too bright at night. There are a lot of short flights of stairs between the different sections of the hotel, not a problem for us but something to be aware of.

The Hezen Cave Hotel is nicely tucked away in the town of Ortahisar in the Cappadocia region. The boutique hotel offers 10 rooms for accommodation (more rooms to come very shortly) each in the cave style setting. What’s most wonderful about this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. They are willing to help with all and any of your questions. We were given a comprehensive overview of the region and the highlights we should cover as visitors in the area.

The room itself is definitely one of a kind and I have never stayed in such an unique room. What’s more is that it also comes with all the modern facilities you expect from a luxury hotel so you can enjoy the cave experience without having to worry about your comfort.

Breakfast in the dining room or on the patio was an absolute delightful experience. With the beautiful view of the naturally formed stone castle in the foreground and delicious breakfast served, I could not asked for a better start to the morning. The breakfast spread was simple but more than adequate. Plus the extremely attentive staff constantly checked if you need anything else.

The hotel also has an unique feature which is the self-service kitchen/bar where you can access alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, hot beverages and bottled water (based on an honesty system where you pay when you check out).

I can't imagine staying anywhere else if you go into Cappadocia. The Hezen Cave Hotel is a fantastic property outside of Ürgüp. You're in the middle of a small town with a fantastic view from the patio.

Nil is a very warm person and a great host. She took the time to help us plan our stay and recommended excellent local restaurants! The breakfast offered is fantastic and the rooms are well decorated and appointed. You must stay in this hotel!

What can we say about Hezen? Fantastic scenery and beautifully decorated rooms and landscape make a big impression on you when you first arrive. The front of house staff were all wonderfully helpful to us, very warm and welcoming at all hours of the day and night - they each went out of their way to make our honeymoon a special stay even though we were at the end of the tourist season. The ladies working behind the scenes in the kitchen also made the best breakfasts we had in our stay in Turkey. Simple delicious omlettes and imaginative cookie recipes!

Thank you to all of the team - you made our stay very special. I would certainly recommend this to others looking for natural beauty, stylish decor, great food, and most of all a friendly, warm welcome.

Room Tip: The suite was spacious and charming.
