“Excellent service and unique surroundings”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Personnel went way beyond the call of duty - arranged excursions, shopping, balloon ride, dinners, transportation, etc.
Room was very tastefully done and a unique experience.
We really enjoyed Cappadocia and wished we could have stayed longer.

Hezen Cave Hotel is fairly new, and the owners did a wonderful job of building, decorating and anticipating what guests will want. There are fantastic views from the main areas, including the great outdoor, shaded patios -- you look out onto a cave castle and a minaret. And the staff will make you a drink and a snack as you lounge (or they'll pack a lunch for you as you head out). Speaking of the staff, we found them all to be friendly and helpful. Nil Tuncer, in particular, was a delight. She planned a day of exploring for us and found us a driver -- all on very short notice. She clearly wants to ensure that her guests have an excellent experience at the hotel and in Cappadocia.

Before visiting Hezen Cave Hotel i had no idea that staying in a cave could be such a chic experience! Nils, Nuri, and all of the staff were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to see that all guests were comfortable, happy, and getting the most out of the area.

The rooms were quite stylish in a very clean, fresh way. Aspects of the design almost reminded me of a high end boutique hotel in Latin America or Asia. Bold primary colors were mixed with different white tones and great pieces of art. It's something quite unexpected given the remote location.

The breakfasts were generous, replete with an assortment of homemade pastries. Given it's included in the room price, it really exceeded my expectations.

So, in sum, book this hotel now! You will not be sorry.

Thank you very much for you review.
Old houses in Cappadocia had bright doors and interiors. We wanted indeed to "play" with colours when designing Hezen Cave. Our interior designer, Halide Didem, created this "eclectic" design. We will be expanding on this concept in the coming years.
We all hope to see you again in Cappadocia.

This hotel is absolutely spectacular. We arrived blinded as a travel agency had booked our entire trip and therefore had no expectations. When we arrived everything exceeded what we had hoped for. The decor of the hotel is wonderfully unique, yet warm and inviting. They have done an amazing job of joining a rustic cave experience with a comfortable, modern feel. Guests are able to experience the cultural nature of a cave without compromising cleanliness and peacefulness. It was perfect!
We were actually on our honeymoon and upon our arrival to our room we found a plate of fruit and a complimentary bottle of wine; so incredibly thoughtful. The breakfast buffet was the best we experienced during our entire stay in Turkey, we stayed at four other locations, and they even offer to cook you fresh eggs and take other special request. The owners and staff are friendly and extremely accommodating. I would not stay anywhere else if we were to return.
They are in the middle of expanding and plan on adding a pool along with more rooms and I would expect the price to increase once these additions are made. Book now, you will not regret it!

Thank you very much for your great review!
We are pleased that you've enjoyed your time in Cappadocia and appreciated your honeymoon stay at Hezen Cave.
We may indeed build a swimming pool in 2013, and may add 2-3 more rooms by then but even with these additional features our aim is to keep the price reasonable and provide best service & quality.
We wish you all happiness... and hope to see you again in the coming years!

Am a travel agent just returning (with a group) from Turkey. After completing a European cruise we spent three days in Istanbul then flew for three days to Cappadocia. All travel arrangements were completed (and may I say perfectly!) by Rock Valley Travel in Urgup. Agency owner Atacan notified me several weeks prior to our departure that he was able to book us in to the new Hezen Cave Hotel in Ortahisar.

HEZEN CAVE HOTEL IS A VERY SPECIAL HOTEL, IN A VERY SPECIAL PLACE, AND IS OPERATED BY SOME VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE.

A VERY SPECIAL CAVE HOTELl: Our group occupied eight of the Hezen's ten cave rooms. And in fact, it was a real treat to view the differences in design between the various unique cave accommodations. Those interested in the specifics of each of the various cave rooms can visit the excellent hotel website at: www.hezenhotel.com. Bedding is very comfortable and bathrooms are all spacious. You are sure to enjoy the wonderfully thick white Turkish bath towels! Bottled water is complimentary throughout the hotel, and a small laundry is completely free of charge (two washers and two dryers, with soap supplied).

The Hezen features several outdoor patio areas with tables, colorful chairs and umbrellas. All look out over Ortahisar Castle (second largest "castle" in Cappadocia) and the surrounding rock homes below it. These outdoor areas are great spots from which to enjoy the spectacular morning breakfast buffet, or an afternoon beverage of your choice (with snacks) following your long day of touring. You will immediately notice the "quiet" of this area once you settle in to your comfortable chair.

The Hezen features several local red and white wines, as well as beer, sodas and mixed alcoholic drinks. All are available at very reasonable prices. The cheerful wait staff are always present and at your service. Light snacks are provided with the beverages.

Reception area and dining area are bright, colorful and cheery! Breakfast choices were many, varied, and of excellent quality including the sweetest watermelon that any of us had ever tasted. Also offered were egg dishes freshly made to order (including omelets). The order is taken and the egg dish is delivered to your table. Large glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice are brought to your indoor or outdoor table (we watched the juice being squeezed). Baskets of bread (just out of the oven) then arrive at the table. Add to the above the following items: cereals, fresh fruit (in our case, bananas and peaches and apples), freshly brewed coffee (great!), pastries, dried fruit (including apricots and raisins), sliced meats and cheeses, breads for toasting, four varieties of what seemed to be home made jams (try the cherry!), bottled water, and assorted teas.

The reception and indoor dining areas of the Hezen are bright (many windows) and colorful. The primary colors are in reds and white, with outdoor umbrellas also in red. During our three day stay colorful flowers were blooming all about the outdoor areas of the hotel.

A VERY SPECIAL PLACE (ORTAHISAR): Hezen Cave Hotel is located in the small village of Ortahisar. Ortahisar has hardly been touched by the flurry of tour buses that criss-cross Cappadocia. Be sure to visit the nearby village center that features an onyx factory and showroom, along with a few souvenir shops and an extremely interesting antique store. For the adventurous its worth the winding walk from the Hezen hotel up toward the "castle." Be sure to somehow mark the various narrow alleys that you are using, so that you don't get lost or confused coming back. You will wind up passing many old, deserted rock homes before winding up in the small center of the village. Well worth an early morning adventuresome journey!

VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE: Hotel manager Nil Tuncer directs an incredibly friendly group of employees. You will soon feel as though you are a part of their family. All employees obviously get along well with one another, and all enjoy putting smiles on their guests faces!
The hotel owners son (Hakan Guzelgoz) spent two days at the hotel during our stay. He was there to take the place of the night manager who was ill. Hakan worked right along side the rest of the employees and provided interesting insight in to the construction of the Hezen. Don't hesitate to email the Hezen with any questions. Nil speaks and writes perfect English, and answers almost immediately.

VERY DIFFICULT TIME: The only difficult time encountered at the Hezen Cave Hotel was on the morning of our departure. Thank you Nil, Hakan, and great staff for providing our group with such a memorable stay in beautiful Cappadocia! You are the best!

Fourteen of us stayed here for several days, and what a delightful place to stay. The rooms are carved out of rock, and there is a nice view. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff went out of their way making our stay pleasant. It is not for the handcapped, as there are quite a few steps getting to some of the rooms. I would go back in a New York minute.

When I arrived at this cave hotel I thought I had arrived in Paradise. Rarely seen something so cute and romantic where every single, but really every single detail is taken care of. The hotel has opened in may 2011 so everything is brand new. The decor is unique and soooo nice! The room was like being in a fairy tale. So cosy and so romantic. Same for the breakfast, all so nicely done. To move though you need a taxi as their location is not central but that's no problem at all.
Thanks to Hakan and sweet Nil for having made my stay unique and special. I can do nothing less than highly and warmly recommend this piece of heaven :-)
