“Breathtaking !”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Suite 311 was the room of choice & it was Amazing !!!

Spacious, with a small sit out overlooking the whole of Goreme. This room is on the highest level of the hotel which makes it the airiest ...Some people in the lower rooms complained of claustrophobia...but well they ARE cave rooms !

The bathroom was big with a Turkish bath, which was great after a chilly day out.

The room has a fireplace which got full use as it was between 1c & 3 c while we were there.

The breakfast was very good....with freshly cooked food & lovely fruits, dryfruits, nuts, yoghurt & honeycomb ! I must make a special mention of the staff at Sultan caves. Exceptional...all of them....the staff actually arranged for a whole honeycomb from their supplier , vacuum & bubble wrapped it for me because I wanted to take it back home for the kids !!

We did use the free hammam at the sister hotel right next door & loved it...

The hotel is owned by the Heritage group which also owns Butterfly balloons & Heritage travels, which made all our balloon rides & tours a seamless affaire ( Btw. I did find the travel arrangements the best after comparing with friends using other travel agents..... Hello Canan !!! )

The Sultan caves made our Kapadokya experience special

Traveling with 3 people, we opted for one of the biggest rooms. We ended up choosing a suite with two bedrooms, a living room with fireplace (sadly, we couldn't use this in the summer), and a huge bathroom with turkish bath. The quality of the rooms was fantastic. Also, the breakfast buffet was huge and filled with delicious food, including made-to-order omelets. The restaurant in the hotel is very nice and the staff is very accommodating. My only complaints were the lack of fans in the room. We were told the cave would get cool at night, but we still found the rooms to be very hot and there was only one fan for the whole apartment. Also, the internet did not work inside the rooms but did outside the rooms on the terrace. In general, the internet was a bit spotty. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay here very much.

We requested for a cave hotel with our guided tour package, and this was selected.

The husband wanted the experience of a suite vs a room. The suite is spacious with a big bathroom (complete with tub. Shower in tub), a living room with a wall TV, refrigerator, and a kingsized bed.

The view captivated us the instance we we arrived. I believe we were at one of the highest locations for hotels. Our view was unhindered, and we had a nice semi-private terrace outside with seating.

I was told the Turkish bath comes with it, but I didn't venture there.

Because of its location, you'll be walking a lot to town. And it's on an incline. So if you aren't used to walking, opt out of this.

Have been there for three nights. The "cave" is really awesome. Super well located at the top of a hill with a marvellous view of the city of Goreme. The rooms are gorgeous. They have even rooms at natural caves, of course refurbished and with comfort for the guests. The owner of the "cave", Mehmet is really a gentlemen and a fantastic host. Always available to tald and support your needs, specially as far as attractions in the region is concerned. If you like to talk about culture and history he is also a knowledgeable man. The cave we stayed was very confortable. Nice bathroom with a good shower. Furnitures are very interesting and typical from the region. Breakfast with a good variety of option, including some specific turkish delights. The hotel also has a restaurant at its facility, which is one of the best in town. Mehmet suggested a typical Turkish meal, which is grilled lamb with eggplant. Delicious. Other than this, the menu has a great variety of options with options for all tastes in case you don't want typical local dishes. Nice selection of wines as well. Waiters, chef and manager of the restauratn are always paying attention to you. Prices are very reasonable. Even people, who are not at the hotel go up to the hill to have dinner there. The name of the restaurant is Seten. Although Mehmet does not mixed up his hotel business with his other, he also has the best carpet store in town, managed by his partner Ali. If you want to buy carpets while in Cappadocia is a very highly recommended place. Ali has over 25 years experience in carpets and it is not as any other store where they start the prices at the hell and then start to bargain. The store has a variety of carpets from low price range to high level and Ali takes his time to explaing everything you want to know before you buy. He shows, demonstrate and explaing why a carpet costs $200 and another one $ 1,000 for example, even for your eyes both look like similar. Back to the hotel itself, it has been one of the best experience we ever had. Being at the top of the hill in Cappadocia is quite exciting and being at a place where the hospitality is the best you can have is even better. My little daughter, 7 years old, really had great time walking freely around the facilities.

Room Tip: All the rooms really look like a real cave, but if you want to stay at a real one, they have such op...

Stayed 3 nights as part of a tour package. The hotel is in a great location, close to the centre of town but far enough so you get lots of peace and quiet in the night. It is a short 5-10 minute walk to town but there are some steep-ish uphill parts so be prepared for that. If you haven't booked a tour, you can easily walk into town to do one or the hotel can arrange them for you.

We arrived late afternoon and our bags were whisked off to our room by the staff. We had a cave room, hewn into the rock cave which was one of the most interesting hotel rooms I've ever been in.

The staff are friendly and helpful and special mentions go to Mustafa and Hassan.

There are plenty of communal areas to sit and catch a glimpse of the amazing landscape at any time of the day.

Breakfast is plentiful and contains a wide variety including fruit, cereals, cheeses, olives, boiled eggs, salads, breads and fried eggs / omelettes cooked to order.

We had dinner in Seten, the hotel restaurant twice in a row (mainly due to fatigue and laziness but also due to the amazing food). The lamb shank is highly recommended and falls of the bone easily.

The only downside was that my room had insufficient natural light for the daytime waking hours and as mentioned by a previous reviewer, the curtains on the one window we did have were flimsy and didn't block out the light cast by the early morning sun (5am!!). So not a happy balance there.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay and a great experience that we had at this hotel as our base for Cappadocia.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend and absolutely loved it. Plenty of communal terrace space so you can enjoy the fantastic view from the hotel. The room was quiet, cool and comfortable and a great value. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly. I would absolutely recommend staying at Sultan Cave Suites!
