“fabulous views and rooms”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

the hotel staff are superb, friendly, helpful, unobtrusive, this hotel is in an excellent location with amazing views down to Goreme and surrounding area, amazing breakfasts with a wide assortment of excellent food, the restaurant serves superb food as well and is very inexpensive, we stayed in a suite and these are phenomenal rooms, spacious, large sitting area, large bathroom, wonderful shower, the only negative thing to be found at this location is poor wifi access especially in most rooms

Room Tip: the suites are definitely worth the extra $$

First off, I'm only giving 4 of 5 points due to a few things... The rooms were very stuffy and still, which is probably a cave thing, not specific to this hotel. Our room (308, I think) was in a place that pretty much every guest had to walk past, making it difficult to go to bed early due to all the action outside (and when you have a 4:15 am wake up call for a hot air balloon ride, you want to go to bed early!). And finally the Internet was very spotty on the entire property. We were told it wouldn't work in our rooms but it also barely worked on the terraces.

Now for the good stuff...
We arrived at 9:30 am after a very early flight from Ephesus and a long drive from Kayseri airport. Exhausted, you can imagine. The staff told us to leave our bags up front and go enjoy breakfast while our room was prepared. We were so greatful to have the opportunity to eat (best hotel breakfast in Turkey, btw) and not have to go in to town to hunt down food ourselves. Our room was ready within 25 minutes where we collapsed without even checking in. The staff said we could go check in when we woke up again... what other hotel lets you do that!? After a few hours we checked in and booked our hot air balloon tour with Butterfly Balloons (highly recommend, see my review). Big thanks to Sultan for working with such a wonderful company. Throughout our stay the staff also recommended public transportation and helped us find our way to various sites as we were a little group-toured-out.

The terraces outside our room and one level up, outside the main office, and breakfast area provided stunning views of the area, especially at night. I was able to steal a few minutes here and there to sit on the terraces and enjoy the solitude, make sure you have time to do this!

The restaurant was good, but not the best food I had in Turkey. I would suggest eating here if you find yourself at the hotel around dinner and not wanting to trek down into town.

My only regret is only staying two days in Goreme. I wold have loved one more day to relax a bit and enjoy the surroundings.

I would recommended this place to all my friends. The views are incrediable. The restaurant is very good. The service (Mustapha in particular) was excellent. The rooms are big and clean. The tours booked were good and went off with out a hitch. Only negative was that some of the staff that serve breakfast (in particular when you order eggs) have a bit of an attitude. This is small thing and is easily overlooked when you consider the pool, haman and overall grounds are outstanding. Be warned that pool in not heated but the views from the pool are wonderful. This really is an excellant place to stay.

We spent 2 nights during June and everything was perfect.
The location is very good and the view from the terrace is breathtaking.
The rooms are comfortable and clean , and the breakfast rich and one of the best we have ever eaten.
But most important, the staff was really helpful
When we needed transport to the attractions in the area, they were pleased to drive us, they helped us happily with every question we really made our experience in goreme to be perfect.

Located at the top of the hill, Sultan Cave Suites provides you with a great view overlooking Goreme. The hotel staff are fantastic, very helpful with tours, suggestions for hiking and other activities in the area. Breakfast was one of the best for with plenty of warm and cold options as well as eggs/omlets made to order each day. Rooms were spacious. We actually checked in very late the first night and had to change rooms the next day but the staff were excellent and very attentive. Our room was located in Sultan 2 which was a little odd - about 30 metres from the main hotel but the rooms were fine just a short walk to breakfast and the main building. Goreme is a wonderful little town and would highly recommend staying there instead of Ugrup or Nevsehir.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building.

In Sultan Cave you just feel like a real sultan or sultan’s favorite wife all the time.

First impression is, of course, the suits – they call them caves but for me it’s more like luxury rooms in an ancient castle with very authentic local design and everything that you may need. The hotel is located on the highest point of Goreme - so you we had the stunning panoramic view.

Second – the delicious Turkish cuisine in Seten restaurant. What I liked most, is the rich variety of dishes - both meat and vegetarian, so my vegi-friends we feeling very comfortable.

But the strongest impression is, of course, the energetic and friendly hotel team: they are there for you 24 hours a day always willing to make you feel even better (Guys, if you are reading this – just know that you rock!). Their advices helped us create the most unforgettable tour across Cappadocia. This is what I can call the high-level service.

Overall, I can say that it’s a place where you will want to come back once more.
