Kismet Cave House

We stayed at Kismet for 3 nights and I don't think we could have asked for anything better. From the moment we walked in, Faruk & his family's warmth enveloped us. Our room was in a cave which made but very cool. Inspite of all modern amenities, there was a definite feel of old time charm and hospitality.
Breakfast was served on the first floor balcony. Traditional Turkish breakfast cooked by Faruk, served by his family and accompanied by the warm sun and cool climes.
Faruk was the perfect host guiding us each day - be it activities, places to see or restaurants to go to. Since Goreme is a small town, you can take advantage of discounts if you have Faruk's card or vouchers for the Hamam (which by the way is highly recommended).
Faruk can make all the booking for you - tours, ballooning, horse riding and airport shuttles. He even throws in free pick & drops if he's around to near by locations.
It's a safe hotel too. We left our 10 year old with her iPad (thanks to free wifi) and heade to the hamam.
All in all, a trip to remember in large measure owing to Kismet! I would recommend it to anyone, anytime!

Kismet means destiny or more simply luckiness, both will define your stay if you choose this cave house. Faruk and his lovely family are perfect hosts and the city could not be more magical.

We arrived late around 23:00 but Faruk was up waiting to welcome us warmly with Apple Tea and beautiful comfortable rooms. The next day he gladly helped us to arrange plans with a local travel agency for the next leg of our trip to Antalya. He also arranged for our balloon ride around the valley for our second day.

No place is more inviting or breath-taking in Turkey than Goreme and we truly believe no other accomodations can meet the perfect standards that Kismet sets. If you're planning a trip to Turkey don't miss out on Goreme, it's Kismet that you come here!

***If you are concerned about safety due to recent protests in the country, don't be! This part of the country has been unaffected by protests. Our stay was quiet and peaceful. I was never fearful for myself or my family. I didn't see one person who appeared to be protesting.***

It was our second time to stay at Kismet, and we were very pleased again. The hotel is on a quiet side street, but only a five minute walk from downtown Goreme. The rooms are clean and the beds might be the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The hotel is family owned and operated. They are great people and provide excellent service. The breakfast was great, and the breakfast balcony provides an excellent view of the hot air balloons taking off at sunrise.

Room Tip: Some rooms have huge jacuzzi tubs.

I stayed at Kismet in the Tulip Room. This was a nice room opening onto the dining/balcony area with views of the balloons in the morning from a small window. Comfortable bed and good shower. Clean and nice. Friendly people running the hotel. Good internet. Close to town but in a fairly quiet location.

We stayed at the Kismet Cave House on recommendation of friends and were very happy with our choice. As seemed the case over and over in Turkey, we were made to feel welcome immediately on arriving.
Though we got in fairly late, Farouk, the owner, offered to wait until we were ready to take a previously planned drive up to a lookout above town with another couple. On the way back he dropped us at a local restaurant which he recommended as reasonably priced local food. It was good, but not great.
Everything about the hotel was great however. The breakfast (from about 7:30-9) included homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, dried figs and apricots, cheeses, olives, meat, cereal and honeycomb, as well as fresh OJ, cherry juice drink, turkish coffee and tea. There was always the offer of eggs made to order as well. All served in an open space with uncovered, covered and protected areas with a great view. You can sit outside or lounge in an area with pillows and rugs.
Another nice thing about the Kismet is that if you are sitting out in the breakfast area talking or reading, and one of the staff walks by they will likely ask if you want a coffee, tea or anything else. I had a few extra coffees.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the town center, so a bit quieter. I surprised me just how close it was walking back.
Farouk also offered whatever other other services or advice we wanted. He had other guests taking a balloon ride the next morning, asked if we wanted to go and got us added to the trip. One person had set up a trip with a different company, and he helped with that as well. He also got us a driver to tour the area (Mustafa, very nice guy) and we had a great time.
The room we had was the Tulip room, with a jacuzzi type tub and a separate shower. The room was big, attractive and comfortable. Farouk offered a 10% discount when my wife told him it was a 28th anniversary trip.
One nice thing I did not realize until we were there, Farouk has a VOIP connection which allows him to speak with little or no charge virtually anywhere in the world. Allowing for the time difference (7 hours to the US east coast), if you were to email him and ask him to call your land line or cell, you can ask any questions you might like to ask by phone.
Another great experience Farouk steered us to was dinner at Alaturka. We had tried to get reservations at Top Deck, which apparently only has 8 tables, so we asked him for another recommendation. He gave us his card and said if we presented it at Alaturka they would give us a 10-15% discount. We walked over and mentioned this to the guy out front, who said no problem. Being a little early, we had our choice of where to sit, and had a beautiful spot upstairs in the open overlooking the action. Our meal was great, the service was great and we got our discount, thanks to Farouk.
All in all we had a wonderful stay in a beautiful place with the assistance of an excellent hotelier.

When stayed 3 night in this hotel.
Location is very nice(5 minutes walking from bus station), prices are reasonable, comfortable room.
Especially, after day-trip I have a good time on terrace with staff(Ismael!).
They serve very friendly.(turkish tea, apple tea, bread, lokum etc..)
We had a lot of conversation via translate application. It was very nice memory.

If you want to feel warm heart of Turkish people, this hotel will satisfy that.

Master of this hotel(Faruk) is a nice guy I think.

We would have to start with the owner, Faruk. He made our trip in Goreme and the Cappadocia region a very memorable one. If we wanted to do something, he would gladly and promptly help us arrange it. He was very personable in how he dealt with his guests. We (and other guests) would be invited into his office where he would serve us turkish delights and brew us turkish coffee as we chat. His family was just lovely. They all pitch in with the managing, cleaning and even preparing the daily breakfast buffet. Our room was very roomy and quaintly decorated. We loved that our bed came with ergonomic pillows which reminded us of home and made our sleep that much better. The rooftop patio view over the Rose valley was amazing. If you wake up early enough, you can see the hot-air balloons launch as if they were in your backyard. For those hesitant to stay in a "cave", it is a cave but beautifully carved and quaintly decorated. Our room was equipped with all the modern amenities such as TV, satellite, shower, and jacuzzi. The temperature of the room is well regulated given that it is a cave, at approx. 20degrees Celsius. We required no extra layers during the night when the temperature outside has fallen nor did we require any A/C when the sun was blazing hot during the day. Overall, we loved our stay at Kismet and our experiences in Goreme and the Cappadocia region. This is a definite recommendation.
