“Incredible service and great hospitality”
Reviewed June 6, 2011

The Kismet Cave House is a small, charming boutique hotel--a very unique place to stay. But the best part is the incredible hospitality by Faruk and his staff. Not only did Faruk help us plan each day's outing and arrange for balloon rides and local vendors at a discount, he also came to our rescue when one of our group fell on a hiking trip and had to go the the emergency room with a torn ACL. Faruk came to the hospital immediately, acted as translator, and helped transport our friend back to the hotel (he couldn't walk). In addition, he helped negotiate all the complex requirements of the travel insurance company to get our friend transported back to the US for surgery, and personally drove him to the airport and got him on the plane.

The breakfast there is great (try the local honey and yogurt and the hot cheese bread!). We also had a group dinner there several nights--they were definitely the best meals we had in Cappadocia.

Faruk himself is a wonderful host--very knowledgable about the area, and willing to spend time explaining the culture and the region. He charmed us from the start by stopping to buy a pet lamb for his son from a farmer herding his sheep across the road on the way from the airport to our hotel--a great photo opportunity for this group of photographers. It is a pleasure to share breakfast or dinner with him--feels like you are having dinner with an old friend.

When planning our trip, we debated whether to stay in Urgup or Goreme. We'd loved Goreme--a much better choice than Urgup, as it is small and charming and in the middle of the main tourist sites. The Kismet Cave House is a short walk from the main part of town. We found the shopping here much better than in nearby Urgup as well.

As many have said before Faruk goes the extra mile and makes everyone feel welcome. He is generous with his time and happy to help everyone. The Kismet Cave is a great central base to explore the surrounding countryside

We did not know what to expect in a cave hotel but we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the Jasmine room, which had a fireplace and was very spacious. The rooms are cleaned everyday. We enjoyed the hearty and tasty breakfast in the terrace. The owner, Faruk, and his staff were very friendly and helpful and assisted us with restaurant recommendations and directions, as well as arranging activities. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

We had a memorable stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The town of Goreme is a good base to explore the famous cave churches and dwellings. There are also great hiking trails that take you to breathtaking views of the Cappadocia landscape.

My wife and I and three friends stayed at Kismet last week. farruch, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly. When he could not find a driver to take us to the hikes and myriad cave dwellings and monasteries around Cappadocia, he drove us himself in his super comfortable Mercedes minivan, and negotiated reduced (ie, Turkish) lunch rates for us with the locals. I would recommend Farruch's hotel and hospitality to anyone. His staff was very friendly and engaging. Farruch also picked us up at the bus station when we arrived and arranged for a driver to take us to Kayseri airport about an hour away. Again and again, Farruch showed how much he loves his work and is committed to his clients.

My wife, adult daughter and myself stayed for 3 nights at the Kismet Cave House. The hotel is well located for the numerous activities in the area- hot air balloon, open air museum, Ilhara Valley, underground cities, Uchisar Castle etc. The breakfast on their pleasant roof top patio was the best encountered during our 2 week Turkey stay- local honey, preserves, omelets, juice and typical fresh bread/olives/cheese/tomatoes. Faruk was truly kind and helped arrange our day trips; at no fee drove us to a valley for a walk-the open air museum-the whirling Dervish performance. For our early morning departure he arranged an early breakfast. Hot tea was available during the day.

We recently spent a couple of day at the Kismet Cave House and I have to say that Faruk and his staff are the best. There are many places to stay in this area but the hospitality at this establishment is the best. Faruk really does go the extra mile in making you feel welcome. He helped us plan everything from our balloon ride to a private guide while in Cappadocia. I highly recommend that you follow his advice and we altered our schedule due to it and I'm very glad that we did. Our first day there, Faruk recommended that we hike through the beautiful Love Canyon and not only that but he dropped us off at the top and picked us up at the bottom.

Faruk also helped us schedule our balloon ride which actually enabled us to get a better price and set us up with a wonderful guide and driver to show us the Cappadocia region.

I'm sure there are many great hotels to stay at in the area, but it makes a huge difference to have a host that loves and is knowledgeable about all the attractions. Faruk really did make our stay in the area special. We had a very early check out and Faruk even packed us a special breakfast to eat on the shuttle to the airport.

Daily breakfasts are great and all items are grown or made locally. There is always someone around to offer you coffee, tea or whatever you may need.

Without a doubt, if you are staying in Cappadocia, I highly recommend that you stay at the Kismet Cave House. The little details and attention that Faruk provides will make your trip even better. Faruk is very responsive to emails and really can help you plan your trip to Cappadocia.

Thanks to everyone at the Kismet, you truly do provide a great service.

Kismet Cave House was the best and most welcoming place we have ever stayed. The rooms were clean, tidy and some actually built into the cave. The service was fantastic and the breakfat (included) was delicious. There was always a welcoming face and all staff assisted us with anything we needed, if it was a cruise/tour to be organised, a tranfer to the airport or even a suggestion on good restaurants in town they would happily help out. Faruk is indescribable, he even dropped us at the open air museum himself so we would miss the tour bus crowds!!! A MUST STAY!
