“Who Knew That Living in a Cave Was So Awesome?!”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

Me and my two girl friends stayed here for three nights while we were touring Cappadocia. Not only was Ramazan absolutely fantastic as a host (made us breakfast even if we missed the breakfast time, helped us with our luggage, made sure we had directions and transportation to all the things that we wanted to do-- he even had his father drive us out to the underground city-- and all for much less than what the local tour offices were asking for). He was also a great resource for discounted prices on hot air balloon rides, suggestions on what to do day-by-day and he even took us on a hike out to the secret garden (no food for us though-- no time- sad face).

The rooms are simple and clean. (And cool, which is nice during the hot weather.) The balconies all have pretty great views, there's wifi in the public spaces and the property is beautiful with flowers and grape vines everywhere-- really peaceful. It's also conveniently located at the end of the road so its easy to get to (and remember where you live) and yet far enough away so you don't have to deal with tourists wandering around your hotel and cars driving by at all hours of the night.

Definitely request a shuttle from the airport though. I didn't have time and forgot to book it, and getting there without the shuttle (~20-25 lira/person) was expensive (~100-150 total for three people) and really inconvenient and tiring.

Ramazan is the best host and went out of his way to show you the real Cappodoccia. He made us tea and a beautiful bbq at his secret garden where we made new friends and ate amazing turkish food. I stayed in one of the cave dorm rooms, which unsurprisingly is a little damp and dark (its in cave) but the price is right and its close to town. Ramazan also picked us up from the bus station and made us aware of the sights to see and how to get around. And breakfast was PHENOMENAL everyday.

Simple, clean rooms in a beautiful spot in Goreme. It was very easy to walk around from there and get picked up for excursions. But the real reason this place is so great is because of the staff. Ramazan and his family are the best, always making you a tea, chatting, helping you plan out day hikes, excursions, dinner plans. They genuinely want you to have a great time and are so proud of their hotel.

The highlight was definitely when Ramazan, his father, and his cousin took us out to his family garden with tons of groceries and supplies and made us the most incredible Turkish BBQ under the stars. They asked only for money for groceries and were so proud to share the garden with us. We had to insist on paying them for this incredible experience. Ramazan is happy only when his guests are, he will take you into town, up to a great sunset lookout spot. He has lived in Goreme his whole life and knows everyone. I would highly suggest booking your trips through him. He can get better rates on adventures (hot air balloon, day trips, ATVs, etc) and can easily cancel and move things around for you if there are weather issues.

Really can't say much more about how great this place is, we went with a big group (some of whom didnt stay there) and they were jealous of our great spot and great hospitality. When I take my wife back to Cappadocia, there is only one place we are staying!

Room Tip: Second floor had great views but spottier wifi since the router is on the first floor. If you want g...

For me, the best thing in Goreme is staring on the Star Cave's balcony, it's really beautiful, peacful and have wonderful view. The host is very careful for his hotel and guests. He helped us to plan the route in Goreme for self driving.
We didn't book the hot balloon from him because we'd booked in Istanbul, and he never feel unhappy. And when we late for Turkish night, he make his stuff show us the way(in the other village which have 10 km far from Goreme ) and accompany us until the show finished.
I'll never forget this trip, thanks very much Ramazan and cute Ertan!

Location is very good, near the Traveller's Cave, but cheaper and worthy, if I went Star Cave 1 month later, the cherry in the garden will be ripe....

Room Tip: choose the 2nd or 3rd floor will have your own balcony

Couldn't say kinder words about Ramazan and his father. Myself and two friends stayed for two days (one night) and the hospitality was amazing. Ramazan would drive us into town when required, took us to some of his favourite locations nearby, and even made us lunch free of charge.

He is definitely a larger-than-life character, but in our case made the stay so much better.

Having not stayed in another cave hotel before or after, it is hard to rate this one objectively, because any cave hotel would seem exciting. Having said that, it had everything we needed and the view was amazing - hard to draw a negative review from the experience.

We stayed here for 3 days. Ramazan is very nice and helpful! He explained to us in details the sites we could visit and drove us to the site nearby, and the balloon flight company he recommended was very professional. The breakfast was great too. When we left, Ramazan drove us to the bus station. You can't find a better place with similar price.

We stayed for three nights in this hotel. We were ten days in Turkey and Star Cave was the most comfortable hotel. The room was big enough with a table where we could place the laptop and a small sofa. There is a parking place. For breakfast we had a lot of fruits. There is a terrace with a great view. If you don't fly with a balloon, you can take photos. Ramazan is very kind and hospitable. He gave us a map and advised us what to see and where to go. He reserved a balloon for us at a good price. I hope that we will have the chance to visit the hotel again.

Star Cave is a family-owned and run hotel located in a traditional restored Cappadocian house in the centre of Goreme. Most of the rooms are cut into the rock while the upper rooms are built from the local stone. Sleeping in a cave room is a great experience - the quality of this age-old rock means that the rooms stay cool in summer and retain the warmth in winter. We create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can chill out with a drink on one of our panoramic terraces, taste local home-made cooking and basically enjoy typical authentic Turkish hospitality.
