I attempted to walk Pigeon Valley, starting from Goreme. There is signage along this walk however sign number 8 directs you the wrong way. I was led straight down an overgrown, muddy and narrow path and encountered a huge, vicious, snarling stray dog. After running away up a hill to escape I eventually found sign 9. The hills are very slippery and steep so wear sturdy shoes. Do not attempt to walk Pigeon Valley alone due to the poor signage and danger of stray dogs (I have since read that other trip advisor reviewers have also had bad experiences with stray dogs here). The walks and views in the other nearby valleys (Rose and Love valleys) are much nicer and safer. Pigeon Valley is best viewed from above, either from the lookout point or hot air balloon.

The best panorama point I saw in Cappadocia. But nothing else. Start of a popular hiking trail. Lots of the same souvenirs for sale as in every place.

Its a unique place on the bottom of Uchisar. There is no ticket for it but be prepared to walk up and down. The scenery is nice and unharmed by humans. But please dont expect any pigeons in the valley if at all there are they are a few only. Probably it got its name from the pigeon shape contours of the terrain.

This is a small, authentic valley with very few tourists. No buses. The locals still live here and grow raisins, pumpkins and apricots. You can visit several cave churches. I strongly recommend taking a local guide, who can show you the most interesting sites and give you info on histiry and culture.
