Walked from Uchisar to Goreme thru beautiful Pigeon Valley and kept an eye out for Hasan's tea house as suggested by others. Well it was right in the middle of the trail so impossible to miss and what an experience. The old fellow (must be in 80s) speaks 5 languages and dishes out peanuts (still in shell!) and cookies with tea for which he only charges 2 turkish Liras ($1 Aussie). As others have stated he throws questions at you and gives you a prize if you answer correctly...and if you don't he'll just ask you another one until you get it right, then gives you a cute little pressie. I got two because I yellled out at some English people I met that were walking past to come in and try the tea (they didn't and were miffed when I caught up and told them all about it).

Hasan, an amazing person in an amazing place. PS His backstory is very interesting if you can find someone that knows it.

There used to be pigeons a long time ago but i was hardly able to see 1 or 2 of them.If included in your tour then its fine or if you are staying at Uchisar.Otherwise not recommended to spend on taxi

We decided to head from Uçhisar back to Goreme via the Pigeon Valley, since it was a pleasant warm day and we had plenty of time. We had different opinions by locals about how hard it would be. Some said impossible, others said pretty easy, some said medium. We decided to go anyway.
Walked for about 45 minutes and it was indeed beautiful, although we were guided solely by our instincts, because there was no sign available. We kept walking for some 20 minutes or so 'till suddenly a cliff appeared, and it was surely impossible to cross it safely. After this hour of adventurous hiking we took the rational decision of giving up, heading back to Uçhisar and then to Goreme by bus. If you want to go there, get a guide or a very - very - good map.
