Kemal's Guest House

Reviewed November 8, 2013

My wife and I stayed here towards the end of an eight week visit to Turkey and we were just blown away by the overall hospitality provided by Barbara & Kemal. We had some difficulty arranging bus transport at the end of our stay due to a public holiday but this was quickly and effectively sorted out by our hosts.
They were perfect hosts who went the extra distance to ensure our stay was a pleasant one and were a wealth of information and advice about their stunningly unique town and the surrounding area.
Our double room was very clean and comfortable with a large shared terrace overlooking the town. The guest house is situated very close to the town centre and bus station but on a very quiet street with virtually no traffic. Just a five minute walk to the town centre.
Breakfast was good, beautifully presented and for a small extra charge one can enjoy a home cooked evening meal - and opportunity not to be missed.
If we are ever able to return to Goreme we would have no hesitation in booking Kemal's Guest House and our one regret was having to leave before we had seen and experienced much more than we managed to in three days.

Room Tip: Our double room with town views was I think one of two but we did not see the other rooms. I have n...

We stayed at kemal's guest house for three nights.
Kemal and Barbara could not have done enough for us. They were so friendly and made us feel at home.
The food was AMAZING, best we have had in all our years coming to Turkey. The breakfast was also fantastic, and well worth the money that they charge.
They were both soo helpful on advising on what we should do, and organising trips etc.
I would recommend staying here, and we will all go back in a flash.
Thank you very much both of you.

Kemal's was a terrific surprise, and we felt well cared for the entire stay, never wanting for anything. Wonderful company in Kemal and Barbara. Lovely landscaping in the garden courtyard and we were very well fed! Can't thank them enough for taking great care of us and ensuring we enjoyed our stay!

We came to Cappadocia/Göreme for hiking and Kemal's Guesthouse turned out to be the perfect place to stay. We stayed here an entire week in the beginning of September, and we've had an amazing time. We were picked up from Nevsehir airport by a group transfer that Barbara arranged for us and we were welcomed by Kemal himself who showed us our cave room (#15). The room is nice and it doesn't get hot during hot days or cold during chilly evenings. The temperature was just perfect for sleeping and there's a nice living area with couches attached to the cave rooms. Aside from the prayers at 5am in the morning, we didn't hear any noise from the balloons in our room. The wifi worked fine in our rooms.

In the mornings we enjoyed a very tasty breakfast made by Barbara with lots of fruit, bread, yoghurt or eggs, coffee, cheese, and something baked like French toast. Then Barbara gave us tips and ideas for the day, and since we came here to hike, we walked 4-6 hours every day. You can basically just start at the guesthouse and choose one of the valleys and explore the area the entire day. The walks here are amazing and the landscape you see here is very unique. We also did a guided walk with Barbara which was VERY informative and fun. Definitely recommended.

We tried Kemal's five course dinner the first night and got a starter, then soup, then TWO different salads, then our main dish, and finally a dessert. It might be a bit more expensive compared to the tourist food you get in the village, but we instantly fell in love with Kemal's cooking and decided to eat at the guesthouse every night. It's well worth the money and still a lot cheaper than what you'd get at home. Kemal's soups are the best soups we ever had.

The last day we wanted to rent a car and drop it off at Nevsehir airport even though they don't have a car rental thing. The guesthouse arranged this for us which was very nice. We had everything we wished for during our stay here.

Going to Cappadocia is amazing enough. But everybody knows how important to a trip is good accomodation. A place where you can feel like home, where you would get delicious breakfast, feel comfy in a bed and having a possibility to relax in the common area.
Kemal's guesthouse has all these things. What's more - and the most important for me - the place is very eco. Barbara (the owner) cares about environment, is very oriented into recycling and arranged a fantastic garden full of fruit trees and flowers. There are 2 lovely cats and very possitive and energetic atmosphere - exactly as Barbara. She is in love in Cappadocia and can tell you everything about the region. I spent there 3 nights but I could have been there for weeks. I'm quite sure I will be back.

After a month of travelling Goreme was a perfect place to stay and have a bit of a rest. Kemal's Guesthouse was just what I was looking for! A beautiful garden full of fruit trees and flowers was like paradise, in which one could hide from the sun. The shade was also guaranteed on the terrace with a huge umbrella. Barbara is a great host, she knows how to deal with the tourists by creating a friendly atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful time there and opportunity to get even more energy!

Room Tip: There is a variety of rooms, cave or standard ones.
