Owner description: Welcome to Middle Earth Travel... We are the trekking, hiking, walking, climbing outdoors and archeology guides of Turkey. We are based in Cappadocia, a very special region which resembles a magical fairy tale land. The remains of the millions years ago volcanic eruptions, shaped by the wind and rain for thousands of years, have formed one of natures most spectacular masterpieces: Strange rock formations, called: "fairy chimneys". Beautifully coloured valleys full of these 'fairy houses' have been a fantastic stage for some of the most important actors of known history, some of which are the Hittites, The Persians, Alexander the Great, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans. Many of these caves are still decorated with icons and wall paintings from the early Christian times.

“Don't look anywhere else, Middle Earth are the ones!”

Me and 3 other friends were put in touch with Middle Earth travel by our hotel. We were after a guide who would take up at Mount Hasan.

The guides were extremely personable and helpful in tailoring the tour to our individual needs. Koray took us on a regional tour on the first part of our tour around Cappadocia - he was absolutely brilliant - funny, knowledgeable, caring. Koray is a true explorer and it was lovely to meet someone so passionate about their job! Koray then introduced us to Kaan who was our guide for the second part of the trip - Mount Hasan! Kaan was an experienced mountaineer and we felt safe throughout our climb.

Middle Earth's offices are really easy to find, just on the road leading up from the main bus station.

We were well looked after by ME and we came away from Turkey with some extra friends. We will definitely be in touch with ME when we return to do Lycian Way!

“Friendly and professional”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

I booked a 2 day mountain trekking tour with Middle Earth. The team were really friendly and I felt really well looked after throughout. Everyone in the team speaks really good english and so no language issues at all. They even taught us some Turkish too!

Our tour guides were really knowledgeable - you could tell they both knew their stuff! Would recommend and will definitely keep in touch for my next trip to Turkey.

“Middle Earth was incredible!”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Three friends and I recently returned from an amazing trip to Turkey planned and led by Middle Earth. We wanted a customized tour that included culture and hiking, and ME planned a fantastic one for us, including Istanbul, Ephesus and other ancient sites, the Lycian Way, a gulet tour, and Cappadocia. Atil was immediately responsive when we first emailed, and stayed in close touch with us throughout the planning process, including a couple Skype conferences. He was always the consummate professional, and exceedingly patient as we changed our minds a few times and asked him dozens of questions. The tour itself was amazing. Our guide Kerem was thoroughly conversant with the history of all the places we visited, as well as attentive and fun to be with. We've all traveled a lot, and this was one of our best trips ever thanks to Middle Earth.

“Middle Earth Travel”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Middle Earth Travel…..BRILLIANT. Uraz our guide was not only young and handsome but knowledgeable, intelligent, caring, fit and had a great sense of humour. Our drivers were safe, punctual, helpful, kind and friendly. Atil organised three of us our 29 day tour, the longest they had organised. We were met at the airport after a long flight, taken on two internal flights and looked after from morning to night. They satisfied all our demands, mountains, hiking, good food, wine, political views, art, environment, archaeology and historical sites, cruises, birds, plants, traditional culture and people. They went way above our expectations. Uraz was with us from breakfast till we went to bed. He took us to amazing restaurants, recommended food, wine and many other things. He adapted our tour to suit our needs as they arose. We had brilliant accommodation and went to traditional villages and stayed with families. These families clearly loved Uraz like their own son. We ate dinner with the Middle Earth guides who were all intelligent, interesting and fun guys. I love Turkey; I love the people, the food, the environment and their culture. It was the best holiday I have ever had. We saw so much of Turkey and would definitely return, using Middle Earth. It was worth every cent and much more. They treated you like family. I could never praise them enough.

“A fantastic experience in Capadocia”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

We have just competed a 6 day trekking holiday based in Goreme, Capadocia.they run this trip twice a year and is totally inclusive. They pick you up from the airport, arrange your hotel, you can upgrade if you wish to, provide day long treks on each of the six days and take you to both lunch and evening meal, the only extras you pay for are the flights and any drinks with the meals. Our tour only had four people on it and they were flexible enough to accommodate our different needs. As well as doing the bits of walks that all tours seem to do they also took us to a lot of places where we didn't see another person in 5 hours of walking. The cafe/restaurants where we were ate were ones that served local food which was nearly always of a high quality.
One warning, on the website it says the walks are for Sunday strollers, they are certainly not that, there is a reasonable amount of up and downs and the paths are often overgrown and bumpy, however if you do a reasonable amount of walking in your own country then you should have no problems and the sights you see will make it all worth while. Thanks to Atil who we communicated with via email over quite a long time and all the staff who helped me having lost my camera twice in the week managed to find it for me and return it to me even after we had moved on to another hotel in Urgup
