My wife and I just ate an amazing meal cook by a lovely woman, wife and mother: Mushko. She took the time and care to explain every dish and how they were all prepared. everything we ate was local and hand made by Mushko that morning (fresh bread) The meat plates were the most expensive thing on the menu but well worth it for the portion size compared to other similar plates we have had in Turkey. But the food was only the beginning. apart from the lovely view, we met Mushko's husband Ethem and one of their daughters who were warm and welcoming to us. After the meal we stayed and talked with them for another hour as they told us about their life in Goreme and they asked us about ours. We were extremely disappointed to read jjhauj's review of Ocak, we also were brought things we did not ask for, but were clearly asked if we wanted them each time before they were placed on our table, and we were only charged for one of these items (dessert, which was priced on the menu still on the table for reference) Perhaps jjhauj should have gone in search of a McDonalds if they wanted to experience only what they were expecting and nothing more. This was one of the most memorable meals and experiences of our entire trip. Please go and enjoy!

This is more than just a restaurant. This is a family experience. Ethem and his lovely family make some of the most delicious home-cooked Turkish food that you'll ever have. If you want to eat an expensive, touristy meal, then go somewhere else. But if you want tasty, local food made by a caring Turkish family, then this is the place for you. I very strongly recommend Osak Restaurant!

First you havé to stop at this restaurant to meet Ethem, Musko and hopefully their two daughters. They are simply very welcoming and incredibly nice people. They hosted me and my friend last summer in their beautiful house with an amazing overlook on Goreme. It has been an unforgettable experience. They cooked for us everyday and every meal was delicious, bursting with fresh ingredients and herbs. I sincerely recommend you visiting them!

We found this restaurant on our first night in Cappadocia as we explored the area around our hotel. We originally didn't know it was a restaurant but saw a man building some fires which caught our attention. After approaching the owner to check out the fire (it was fairly cool outside), he explained it was used to slow-cook the lamb they were having that night. We decided to eat there and were seated on a nice deck area with a beautiful view of a full moon rising above a mountainside. The owner, Ethem, explained that he, his wife and daughter ran the restaurant and lived at the house. We had lentil soup prepared by his daughter which was delicious and several excellent sides. After dinner, Ethem's wife brought us out blankets to keep us warm (as well as for the other guests) and Ethem brought us tea and an amazing desert. Ethem and his wife made us feel so welcome and comfortable as we just sat back by a fire and enjoyed talking with some other travelers who were also dining at the restaurant (they were back their 2nd night after enjoying the previous night so much). We were treated so kindly throughout the whole experience and were treated much more like friends visiting their home than just customers. Some of Etham's neighbors came over later to join us while we relaxed by the fire.

While I certainly recommend this small restaurant for the food, it was the enormous kindness of this wonderful family which made it one of the most memorable nights of our Turkey trip. On our next trip to Cappadocia, we will be sure to visit Ethem and his family again.

Great place to understand the meaning of life. This restaurant is a family business of a wonderful person and a great philosopher Ethem. The food of his wife is the real kitchen of Anatolia. One day I will return to Goreme.
