We're still coming to earth, if you'll forgive the pun, after our amazing balloon flight with Istanbul Balloons a few hours ago. While the scenery of this region breathtaking, especially when one considers how humans have lived inside these weirdly eroded pillars for centuries, I found the efficient organisation of ballooning in Goremequite reassuring!
Having booked a "comfort" flight (with fewer passengers) the day before we were picked up right on time (4:30AM) from our hotel, bussed to Istanbul Balloon's breakfast building for a quick breakfast (don't bother - your hotel breakfast is heaps better!) and then driven yo the balloon launch site where our balloon was ready and waiting.
Our pilot was in perfect control and was able to choose the best time safely rise above the dispersing mass of colourful balloons and manoeuvre our balloon first way up into the perfectly clear dawn sky for a spectacular view and then bring us accurately so low down into Love Valley (where my partner and I had walked yesterday) that we were skimming the ground or cliff faces.
The pilot was in such control of our flight he was able to organise the retrieval team to the spot he planned to land and our landing right into the retrieval trailer was very nearly as imperceptible as our takeoff!
While the retrieval team efficiently deflated folded and packed the ballon, We were give champagne and printed certificates, unnecessary given we landed just before 7am and our memories from the flight are more important than a piece of paper.
Anyway, for a whole lot of reasons, but safety and efficiency foremost, I can thoroughly recommend that you fly with Istanbul Balloons.
One final thing - I suggest that you bring along earplugs as the noise from the gas burners is quite loud!
