“Wonderful Carpet and kilim selection”
Reviewed May 16, 2013 via mobile

I visites Sultan Carpets by chance. I was in a souviner shop next door and it happened that they also owned This carpet shop.
They have an excellent selection of carpets an kilims.
The sales attendant Semsett
in was wonderful!!! He speaks English and knows the history of the area and also about carpet production. Very knowledgeable. He showed me around the shop. If he's around, ask him to show you his antique collection - absolutely amazing!!!
Even if you don't buy anything, it's still worth a visit.

“You can tell they love what they do”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Our vacation in Turkey went from very good to magical upon stepping into Sultan Carpets. It was February, and my girlfriend and I were snowed-in in Goreme, looking for something to do. We liked kilims and carpets, but were wary of going into shops given we knew so little about them. That was about the change. The owner of our hotel, a Cappadocian native with the disposition of a salty New Yorker, suggested Sultan Carpets, of which he disclosed that he is a part owner. (By the way, I highly recommend staying at Sultan Caves as well.)

We were greeted by Ali at Sultan Carpets. He asked what we were interested in and we said “honestly, we like carpets but know very little and would really like to learn”. Ali smiled and said “perfect, I love talking about carpets”. He asked about carpet size and potential budget in order to take us to the appropriate storeroom. For the next few hours Ali actively shared his encyclopedic knowledge of carpets: symbol meaning, history, how they are made, cultural influences, how they source carpets, etc. It was easy to see that he loved his trade and wanted to make his customers happy. We bought two kilims. One I gave as a gift and the other is proudly laid out in our living. It’s gorgeous. In case you’re wondering, the two people we met at Sultan Carpets, Ali and Semsi, both speak English fluently.

To be fair, we were lucky in the sense that we were in Goreme on a snowy, winter day. I doubt anyone would be able to spend that much time with a customer on a busy day. That said, I highly recommend checking out Sultan Carpet if you’re interested in rugs or just want to meet some cool guys.

“Best selection and service in Turkey!”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

After living in Turkey for 2 years we have been to a wide variety of carpet shops throughout the country. The experience we had with Sultan Carpets was second to none! The variety of their selection, combined with the knowledge and service which they impart to their customers made every step of the process a joy.

We are so pleased with the carpets that we purchased and would recommend visiting their shop in Goreme, should you have the opportunity. You will not be disappointed.

“Handmade, non-dyed carpets(and we bought silk carpets too)”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Multi-generation business, amazing multi-color carpets, wool on cotton without any dyes, natural wool colors. Also very nice silk on silk (natural dyes)... Extremely low pressure, enjoyable shopping experience. Thank you Semsettin!
