I have returned after 40 years to see again this fantastic landscape and to show it to my wife. Urgup and Göreme have preserved their beauties and these landscapes, the frescoes in the churches, the whole atmosphere is unforgettable.

the frescoes and the churches are beautiful, but lots of tourists. if you are walking individually in the area, there is much more beautiful landscape and nice churches as well, but you will have it for youself and you can save the entrance ticket

Our visit to the Goreme national park was fantastic as both my wife and I are interested in history and archeology. The caves date back to pre christian times and many of the writings of the thee original apostles of Christ were written while they stayed in the caves and the early monastries.ie "letters to the cappadocians".
As with all historical and tourist sites crowds can be a problem so get there early morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the school tours.Make sure you take your camera and a large SD card.Cannot be missed if you are in Goreme!!

This is a well laid out concentration of ancient friescoed churches in caves. The paths were good and the steps safe and easy to negotiate. Although it cost extra, the so-called "Dark Church" is worth the money as the frescoes were the best preserved in the park.
