Owner description: One of the top attractions in the region, this outdoor museum contains the remains of many churches carved into the famous Cappadocia stone. Of note are the many excellent frescoes that can be seen when exploring the various structures.

“Wow!!!!”

I can almost guarantee you'll be totally blown away by this! Let you mind float free and see whatever you want to in the rock formations- people, camels, wrestlers.... Marvel at the churches set in the caves and the freshness of the murals. Just sit and look and wonder as the material world retreats and you revel in the beauty and diversity of nature.

“Wear a hat”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

The Goreme Open- Air Museum is a definite do while you are in Cappadocia. It is better to get there early or at lunch time or in the afternoon to avoid tour groups which make getting in and out of the churches tiresome. If you aren't on a tour then I would recommend the audio tour - without it you would miss a lot of what you are seeing. Also we were allowed to stay in the churches longer to look at the frescoes. The tour groups were limited to no more than 5 minutes but we had no time restriction. In September it was very hot so a hat and a bottle of water are essential. It is a great place.

“It's why you go to Cappadocia!”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is so cool--This and a ballon ride are why you go to Cappadocia. The site is well organized and has a good variety of things to see. We were glad we actually took our hotel's advice and went to do this. More worth it than Zelve open air museum.

“Worth Seeing but don't feel bad if you dont”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is a beautiful open air museum and worth seeing. That said, it isn't as worth it as the Goreme open air museum because it doesn't have as many varied things to see or cave drawings.
