You need a guided explanation. It is somewhat spare of words and the tour groups run over individual tourists

“Must see in Cappadocia”

Incredible rock formations and history at this park. Enjoyed all the churches and paintings of Christ and the apostles. This is why you come to Cappadocia.

“unique”

It is better to bring a hat and water. There are no signs for visiting directions. Explanations are not enough. Staff at the entrances of the structures are friendly and helpful.

“Very Interesting and worth the Visit.”

This was an unexpected delight - we only intended to visit a couple of the churches but went into every one of them. Fascinating and takes around 1-2 hours to visit the site.

“Worth a short visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

It's a nice stroll from Goreme. If you like unique churches in caves from early Christian and Byzantine time, this is the place. But be sure to hire a guide or audio guide. There are some very well-preserved but extremely fragile frescos in these tiny, claustrophobia-inducing churches / caves. If that is not your thing, Selime Monastery is far more interesting but farther away.
