“Beautiful but busy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

September in Capadoccia is a very busy season, and for that reason you have to go to the Open Air Museum very early to avoid the crowds (and still you will get it).It is a mandatory visit, where you can see all the christian churches and original paintings, very good example of the ancient culture in Capadoccia.Available audio guide at the front desk makes this excursion perfect for exploring it yourself.Specially impressive is the dark church (price not included in the ticket).Highly recommended.

“All Wrapped Up Into One”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

The Open-Air Museum gives you the overall idea of every other place you might otherwise venture into if on your own in various parts of Cappadocia. Churches, cave dwellings, etc. Its all here. Worth a visit and I enjoyed it quite a bit, but after awhile it all does start to look the same. After visiting this, you can easily move on to seeing different things in the area.

“Beautiful way to start the day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

If you are new to goreme, this should be your first stop. You can get up close at the cave dwellings, walk inside and see the frescos and churches that are still in good condition. A little packed with tourists...so arrive really early or later in the afternoon.

“Nature at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We love Istanbul with its buzz, museums, etc, however nothing beats amazing natural scenery. It makes one reflective and appreciative. The open air museum gives one the opportunity to relax as one navigates through the nooks and corners. We have an excellent guide in Ilharmi from Insight Vacations, who spares nothing to ensure we understand the history and background of the places we visit.
