“Kelebek was the best of our 12 hotel stays on this trip to Turkey”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We stayed in 12 really good hotels in Turkey. The excellent hospitality at Kelebek put it at the top of our list of all 12. We had many excellent breakfasts in our 3 weeks in Turkey. The three of us voted and we unanimously agreed that Kelebek's breakfast was the best.
My only regret was that our time schedule did not allow us to stay longer.
Lonely Planet listed Kelebeck and Koza Cave as the only two "top choices" for hotels in Goreme. We stayed at both, and agree that Lonely Planet's ratings were right on the mark.
Also, my adult daughter had a wonderful experience in Kelebek's hamam, and found that luxurious experience to be very good value.

Kelebek hotel was our home for our 3 day stay in the cappadocia region. We cant say enough on how we enjoyed our stay in this hotel. First it's charming location up on a hill with a magnificent view of goreme. Yes, this is a cave hotel, but believe me we are living in class, and the rooms are far from the cave days :) The owner organised a full moon dinner for the hotel guests in a private and majestic valley where his grand parents and parents onced lived. We were treated to outstanding food (local and fresh traditional cappadician food), music and dance. LOVE IT! The next day, we had breakfast served in the same location and were privy to participate in wine making with local people. An activity that is limited to September travelers, finished up the day with a turkish haman bath and massage. This hotel was fantastic!

Staying at the Kelebek Hotel made our stay in Cappadocia. The level of hospitality was higher than any other place we stayed at in Turkey - and the general level of hospitality in Turkey was way higher than elsewhere, The hotel is a special place architecturally with a loads of guest spaces for relaxing. The staff really made us feel welcome and catered to our every need. Breakfast was delicious and the trip to the farm was quite an experience. The room was spotlessly clean.

Our last five nights in Turkey were spent here. Our small stone room was just right for our needs although the steps might be a challenge for some. The ambience of the hotel reflected that service and hospitality definitely came from the hotel owner down through the management and staff. As with others, the balloon ride, the King Valley breakfast hearing Ali's story of his own background and the full moon party are things we will remember for a long time. It was very difficult to leave this wonderful place.

Room Tip: If access is an issue check if there are steps to manouvre.

My mom and I had a great trip to Cappadocia. This hotel is charming, clean, great bathrooms, the best views and most importantly excellent staff. They were generous, kind, solicitous and very accommodating, They hooked us up with transportation - even on short notice, an amazing ballooon ride for my mom who is afraid of flying, an organic garden breakfast, and much, much more. Mr. Ali, the gentleman who owns and personally designed the hotel is a genius and cares deeply about his hotel and town. The other guests were friendly and delightful and very cosmopolitan. Best hotel ever.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. They are stunning!

Turkish delight at Kelebek... The most beautiful cave hotel in the valley of Cappadocia. Tucked away as the almost the highest cave hotel, the overview of Cappadocian terrain is most stunning. Great service, a homely vibe, good food and a very memorable 1st hammam experience, the hotel forms an unforgettable memory to your turkish yearbook! Do the hot air balloon deal here and avail of a sizeable discount too!

We booked at Kelebek based on a colleague's recommendation, and so glad we did! We flew into Kayseri airport and rented a car for our 3 days in Cappadocia (a 1 hr. drive from the town of Goreme). On arrival, we were given a tour of the hotel's lovely grounds and amenities by Matt, their gem of a hotel manager. Our room wasn't quite ready, which turned out to be a bonus, as Matt spent time giving us suggestions of where we might visit in our time in the area (over a complimentary glass of wine, I might add). He helped us plan out each day, giving us maps he marked up with routes and suggestions, which made our visit to this magical area one of our most memorable destinations ever. And the hotel itself - we chose Room 17 which has a huge private terrace and absolutely loved it! Very comfy bed, lovely bathroom and the attention to detail in every piece of the décor made it that much more special. We ate twice at the hotel's restaurant, and absolutely loved both the food and the service (and Turkey has some wonderful wines, I might add - who knew?). Although I couldn't convince my husband to join me, the hotel's Haman is not to be missed (I chose the 70 min.'combo' Turkish silk scrub/massage/face mask - heavenly!!). We had booked a balloon ride with Butterfly Balloons on our own, not realizing they were connected with the Hotel, and again, can't say enough about the experience. Our pilot, Mike was knowledgeable and entertaining, the views were spectacular, and most of all (based on our own personal research) this company has an unblemished safety record. The morning of our balloon flight was topped off with the Kelebek Hotel's Organic breakfast option - a delightful 2 1/2 hr. experience of riding in a tractor-pulled wagon through some of the most beautiful countryside, stopping several times along the way to hear Ali's (Kelebek's owner) stories of growing up, of how the area has evolved, whilst being handed fresh plums and grapes and apples picked right in front of you, as you journey to a table laden with fresh fruits and breads and yogurts and honey and preserves and cheeses... need I say more?

Our experience in Cappadocia was really special, and we can't say enough about Matt, the Kelebek's Hotel Manager. He (and the very well trained team there) make each guest feel like family, offering helpful suggestions and really, anything you need. Of the two weeks we spent in Turkey, our time here was definitely a highlight. A big thank you to Ali, Matt, and to the Kelebek team for a wonderful stay!!

Room Tip: Room 17 is right next to the Hamam spa and with it's own private terrace, was perfect.
