This place is the best place I have ever stayed. The staff is 5 stars all the way. I loved Tuna and the owner was fantastic. Don't miss the free Kings Highway breakfast outting on the tractor! If you don't stay here you are missing out. We stayed an extra night and it still wasn't enough. What else can I say. The staff, food, room, pool, view, are all fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

I arrived early morning by bus and they picked me up at the bus station.
The manager was a very kind and easy to talk to. So does Kelebek's staff.
I booked tours and also my balloon ride with them.
The rooms were great.

Definetely a great place!
If I go back to Cappadocia I will book my stay there again.

On arrival at the Kelebek (about an hour's drive from the local airport) the staff were quick to unload our bags and to understand which bags were for which rooms (between the eight of us we had four rooms booked, of which one wasn't quite ready as we were quite early). While the staff took the bags away, the manager spent about five minutes doing the necessary check-in admin and then gave us a 10-15 minute run-through of the various facilities at the hotel and the other things we could do in the area (both guided tours and self-guided exploration). There were three standard tours available, but he was quick to say: "If you'd prefer, I can put you a personalised one together for the same price that just does the bits you want to see".

The rooms are all carved into the soft rock that typefies the region, and although small were very funky. The bathrooms were fine, and the showers nicely powerful. Our room looked out onto an open area of ground from which early morning balloon flights (there are dozens departing pre-6am each morning from various locations in the area) were launched; although the burners can be quite loud, closing the window sorted that nicely, and a sky full of balloons is an awesome sight so no complaints on that front.

On a couple of evenings each month the hotel runs a "full moon" barbecue in a valley that's about a 10-minute drive away, and which is owned by the hotel group. We took them up on the offer, as did a fair number of others (perhaps a couple of dozen of us in all), and at 65 Lira it was excellent value given that there was more food and wine than any of us could reasonably eat or drink (though some of those present tried very hard to ensure they got their money's worth)!

One of the other activities my wife and I took part in was a Turkish cooking class. This comprised a visit to the local Farmers' Market (which was spectacular) and then a couple of hours cooking in a local woman's house, where we made a starter, main course and dessert (and, of course, had the fruits of our labours for lunch). A little pricey at EUR50, but it was great fun.

On another day we took the manager up on his offer of a personalised tour, and it was excellent value. The eight of us covered a variety of locations over about six hours, guided by a qualified and licensed (and very good) tour guide who clearly knew what she was talking about. I'd definitely recommend this approach instead of going on one or more of the "standard" tours on offer. The price was EUR50 per head, which included a three-course lunch at a really lovely restaurant which was clearly popular with the locals.

We did a trip to the Open Air Museum, which is a couple of kilometres up the road. The hotel gave a us a lift down at no charge (they're great for this - the manager often said to us: "If you want to see XXX, just let me know and I'll get someone to drop you there") and we had a nice stroll back in the sunshine. This attitude was extended to drinks, too: at any time of the day you were welcome to as much Turkish tea or filter coffee as you wished, for no charge. Oh, and it will come as no surprise to hear that WiFi Internet connectivity was free; connectivity was good in the communal areas, and in our room for that matter, though I gather that some of the rooms don't have great coverage simply because of the volume of rock between them and the nearest antenna.

Back to the hotel, then. The pool is fairly small, as is the terrace area around it, but it never seemed overcrowded and we were always able to find somewhere to sit. One of the terraces could be quite windy, and after a couple of flying brolly incidents I think they need to invest in some heavier concrete stands for their bigger umbrellas! There's a little bar next to the pool which usually has someone there to serve (and when they're not there, it's a minute's walk to the main bar). By the main bar and breakfast area there's a lovely seating area with big cushioned benches and a view over the surrounding area; it's a lovely shady place to sit with a book and a bottle or two of Efes (the preferred beer in that part of the world).

The hotel has its own Turkish bath and spa, and some of us decided to use the facilities - in my case for a Turkish massage, involving ten minutes in the sauna and then being scrubbed and massaged in a vast soap-sud mountain. A very worthwhile and enjoyable half-hour.

Breakfast was always at the hotel as it was included in the price, and was the usual variety of fruit, cheeses, bread and the like; you could also ask them to make you an omelette if you so wished. In fact the staff's commitment to service was exemplified when the waitress discovered she'd forgotten to give my omelette order to the kitchen - she spent the rest of the day apologising whenever we bumped into each other, which was lovely but of course unnecessary!

We'd often have lunch at the hotel too. The prices were perhaps a lira or two higher than wandering down into town, but that's normal and they weren't excessively expensive and you got plenty (one of our party had a cheese-plate for his starter and it was larger than the average main course in many places!).

Local restaurants abound, and we were never short of somewhere to eat in the evening. It takes no more than 10 minutes to get into the main village, and as well as restaurants and bars there are plenty of shops selling local merchandise; cash machines are also plentiful, some of which dispense Euro and US Dollar notes as well as Lira.

I'd absolutely recommend the Kelebek if you want to visit Cappadocia. They really go out of their way to help you enjoy yourself, both by dropping you off free-of-charge at attractions or by putting on customised tours with the same price and quality of the standard ones, but taking you to the bits that you actually want to see. The location is spectacular too.

We are four friends who stayed three nights in rooms 102 and 8 (which were the only rooms with twin beds available) in early July. The hotel is charming, service friendly and is excellent value for money. It is not luxury and there are some negatives (the rooms, especially the bathrooms, are dark, beds in room 8 were sagging, room 8 was also hot at night) but on balance it is a very good hotel choice. We would recommend the Kelebek Hotel to our friends.

Room Tip: Avoid room 8 in hot weather unless you can sleep in a warm room

I'm so glad I booked the Kelebek hotel for my stay in Goreme. It is a great value for a nice room and a lot of extra special bonuses. Being a solo traveller, I had originally decided to stay in a hostel, but changed my plans as I was taking a balloon flight the next morning and decided I needed my rest. It was well worth it. The wonderful hospitality from the staff began even before my checkin time. I arrived on an overnight bus from Istanbul at 8am. I had the bus company call up to the hotel and in less than 5 minutes they were there to pick me up and drive me the short distance to the hotel (very walkable from the main street to the hotel). My room was not ready yet, as the checkout is not until 11, but they allowed me to leave my bags and get ready for my day anyways. I had a tour booked for that day, so they told me to go upstairs enjoy their complimentary breakfast and they gave me towels to shower and get ready in the shared bathroom.

Upon return from my tour, I had time to explore their beautiful property. They have a pool area with a nice large deck and plenty of space to enjoy the sunset. Below, there is a lovely garden with hammocks and seating to relax. There is a terrace that overlooks the town and the gorgeous landscape. It is a great place to spend time at breakfast or unwind after a day of sightseeing.

For the next day, they had booked the Butterfly Balloon tour for me, which I highly recommend. After the balloon flight, the hotel suggested I try the organic breakfast in the Hidden King's Valley. The tour is free for guests from the owner of the hotel. You take a wagon ride and walk down into the valley. The breakfast is amazing and it is a fun experience to eat in the farm among the fruit trees, pigeon houses, and chickens, where they get the eggs from. It is a very original tour experience and you learn a lot.

The day of my checkout, I was leaving on the night bus, but the hotel kept my bags and said I was more than welcome to stay around and enjoy everything they have to offer. I took some time to relax by the pool and eat lunch in the restaurant they have for guests. When it was time to go, they drove me back down to the bus station.

I cannot recommend Kelebek enough. It is a great value for a nice, clean, comfortable room, wonderful amenities, fantastic views from everywhere and most of all the staff really makes your stay so enjoyable. They are always around to answer any questions. They offer excellent advice for hikes, tours, and things to see and do. They will even drop you off at locations close by. The town of Goreme is a 5 minute walk away from food and shopping. There is also a great restaurant next door at their sister hotel, which I recommend to try one night. When staying at the Kelebek, take time to enjoy everything they have to offer from the view and the people. It was by far the best part of my trip and something I will always remember.

My husband and I just loved this hotel. The view from any part of the hotel is something will say with us forever! The service and stuff very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable, except the bathroom, which was tight and it lacked shelves for personal toiletry items.Very reasonable rate. We loved to join the other guests for a drink on the terrace after our day tours, and share our experiences. We would definitely go back to stay in this hotel, and probably just have more time to enjoy the beautiful and relaxing view.

Room Tip: yes, the room in front of the pool is nice, but it can be noise in the evening and early morning.
