“Lovely family and meal”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

On our trip to Cappadocia we had dinner at Topdeck one night. The place is wonderful and it is well worth a visit. The family that owns the restaurant is lovely and we enjoyed being waited on by their high-school aged daughter who is very outgoing. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced. Definitely the best food we had on our visit to Cappadocia.

“Amazing food, amazing people!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

What else can I say about this place? I got there with my mom on a snowy Wednesday night at around 8.40pm after reading so many positive reviews on tripadvisor.

We open the door and find the kitchen clean and all the lights down...suddenly they come to say that the kitchen was closed a few minutes ago...we ask for a recommendation of another place to go...they think a bit and the cook, Mustafa, says: "Wait! Stay here and I can cook you something!"

So they basically reopened the restaurant just for me and my mom...and as it was my 30th birthday it turned out to be a very special meal!
The food was great, we went for their recommendations including meze, soup and main course.

After finishing they turned all the restaurant lights down and come from the kitchen siging happy birthday to me with a candle place between a couple of baklavas...

Yes, this restaurant has great food, very nice atmosphere (inside a cave), but what really makes this restaurant is the heart of the family who owns and runs it. Great people!

I told them I would give 10 stars if possible!

“best meal in turkey!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

Ate dinner at topdeck on a snowy cold night on the last day of our stay in goreme and wished we could have stayed longer. Fantastic tasty meal made with fresh ingrediants. We ordered the medium meze and the chicken main for 2 people which was sufficient. We thought the prices were very reasonable compared to other restaurants in goreme since the portions are generous. Highly recommended!

“Delicious food, reasonable prices, fantastic service.”

This restaurant deserves its number 1 status in Goreme. It was a bit difficult to find, but so are all gems! We were recommended to eat here by the staff at our wonderful hotel, Caravanserai Cave Hotel, after he introduced us to the owner over lunch at another establishment. We arrived at top deck, sat ourselves down at one of the floor tables and were given menus by staff that spoke wonderful English. The decor is amazing, great cave like surrounds and very cozy and warm on the couches. The menu is limited, although there is often the opposite complaint made for other restaurants, therefore this might not be a bad thing. You can order meze (traditional mix of starters in medium or large serves) and meat dishes (chicken, lamb or beef) which come with sides like rice and salad. They also give you a generous basket of the best and freshest Turkish bread you'll ever eat. We had the medium meze, chicken dish and lamb dish. We actually didn't order the chicken but didn't want to cause a fuss so we ate it. It also looked delectable so it wasn't hard to consume! All dishes were perfect. My boyfriend particularly liked the lamb but not so much the meze (he's more of a carnivore!). He also had freshly squeezed orange juice, which was exactly that, pulp and all. We had absolutely all we could eat, full to the brim. I was tempted to order the baklava to see how it's different to what I had in Greece but I had absolutely no room left. This wonderful experience set us back 43 lira (not including the chicken as we didn't have to pay). So we essentially paid 20 Aussie dollars for that amazing food. We were also given the option to pay in euro or lira. As a fellow tourist, you know to be careful paying in euro as some places will happily rip you off if you don't know the exchange rates. Not only did he not rip us off, but he also gave us change in lira which has prevented us paying more fees to withdraw more money. Overall, great experience, great food, great atmosphere. Very, very happy!

“Perfect dining in Goreme, Cappadocia”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Topdeck is a great little spot, run by people who care about the food they serve and treat their customers like guests. Greeted with a warm smile, the cave room was bathed in a warm glow from the various lamps. With a choice of regular or cushion level tables, my kids chose the lower, resulting in a more constrained dining position for us adults but made the experience more unique.

Our server made perfect suggestions as to quantity and variety based on our questions; in addition to the mezes sampler, we had the chicken and beef options for entrees. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Our server came around regularly to see that we had everything needed and we learned how it was a business almost totally run by one family.

As it's a very small room, a reservation is best.
