“Go with a loved one or someone you wanna fall in love with”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Formations after formations of the fairy chimneys. We saw this from the Atv bike hiking would be asking for trouble as we saved 3 lost Koreans by bringing them and their tired legs back to Goreme village. Given a choice, we may have taken the horse riding instead

“Fascinating hike”

We loved walking through Love Valley and exploring the different churches. It was not crowded and a fantastic place to get away from all the tourists at the main attractions.

“Amazing rock formations, the best photos of my trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

Photos of the fairy chimneys that I saw on line were one of the main reasons I visited Turkey. I'm glad they lured me to a wonderful country, and even happier that I was able to visit this valley to see them in person. I'll admit to a few initial giggles at my frist glimpses of the phallic-shaped eroded rock formations, and our guide's timid jokes about "Love Valley" furthered the funnies. But all jokes aside, this is one of the most unique places I've ever visited. The formations are simply amazing, even after our guide explained thow the harder rock on top takes longer to erode than the softer volcanic layers underneath it. Some of the pieces on top are balancing so precariously that you expect them to tumble any minute.

This location is great, because you can make it into whatever you want. If you just want to stroll around some well-worn paths near a roadside parking lot, you can see amazing formations and get great photos in 15 or 20 minutes. If you want to hike up into the hills and look down on the area, you can spend a couple of hours hiking.

The area wasn't particularly crowded, and if you are patient, you can get good photos without other visitors in them. Also, the rock columns are tall enough that you can get great shots of them by just pointing your camera over the heads of the people nearby.
