All I could hear was the gentle breeze softly whispering past the hot air balloon and the occasional whoosh of the flame filling the balloon, as we soared on smooth streams of air. The warm sun breached the nearby plateau casting a warm, encompassing glow over the insanely picturesque valley below. Holy cow!

This is a once in a lifetime experience, add it to your bucket list and be sure to choose Royal. We were so happy with them.

We did the Queen package, breakfast before sunrise (who can eat with so much excitement), and then drive to your balloon. There are around 200 registered balloons in the area, with up to 140 taking off each morning during the peak season. Our morning was relatively quieter with only around 70 balloons sharing the clear, azure sky with us. It was still a truly spectacular panorama combining the rugged landscape, crystal skies and bright balloons silently gliding, interrupted with occasional bursts of whooshing flame to control their ascent.

The photos we took were nothing short of breathtaking and you can view them all on our blog.

As Nigel was looking for a spot to land the balloon, he announced that we would be landing on the back of a pick-up truck. We thought he was joking at first, but realized he was serious. How would this work? We recalled back to our Australian balloon ride, which ended with us roughly landing the basket with a thud and tipping over while gripping onto the internal handles with white knuckles. This time, there was a rope lowered down to a staff member waiting below and guided gently onto the back of a pick-up truck (Aussies would call them “utes”) with amazing grace and finesse. We were impressed!

Highly Recommend!

Extremely happy with our first hot air balloon flight. Was very easy to organise through our hotel. We were picked up then treated to breakfast before take off. Our pilot, Suat, was very knowledgable, experienced and hilarious! The celebratory champagne was a great finish to a perfect morning!

My wife and I took this morning the 1.5h balloon ride, and although it is quite pricy EUR 240 pp, it is totally worth your money and the early wake up.

We were picked up from our hotel at 5:00AM, and by 5:30 we were having a simple breakfast.

We had a wonderful day, however our captain "Dave", an Aussie from the Gold Coast, says that the visibility we had is quite normal.

Dave is an amazing pilot, he flew us just above the trees and up to 6000 ft above sea leavel.

If you have the chance and the means, DO IT!

I am not very good with heights and this was a real tough one for me.
Was extremely nervous before hand and as a result did not take advantage of the breakfast on offer.
I should not have been worried, paid for the Royal King flight which is more expensive than other trips on offer and other companies. There were only eight passengers and the pilot which meant you had unobstructed views , you weren't jostled by eager photographers and everyone got to ask questions.
The trip itself was wonderful, I smiled the whole time at the fabulous sun rise, stunning landscapes and the other balloons dotted along the sky line.
Would I do this again? You bet. Royal Balloons were fantastic , very professional and friendly.
One thing I would say is don't get too caught up taking photos that you miss the wonder that this experience has to offer, seeing it through the lens of a camera does not do it justice.
