This was the best part of the trip to Cappadocia, hand's down. I felt safe, and the sensation of flying in a hot air balloon is unlike anything else I've ever experienced. There was no sense of lifting off or moving, just great peace. We landed right on the truck that came to collect the balloon and basket, and then had a champagne toast. Really, don't miss this.

This was for sure one of the highlights of my trip to Cappadocia. The staff picked us up early and took us for a light breakfat then it was off to the site. We were divided into groups and were airborne before we knew it. The experience was absolutely breathtaking and as smooth as silk . There was such a beautiful quite stillness up there. Absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Our landing was celebrated with a champage toast, great fun. There is nothing like watching the sunrise from a hot air balloon.

We got Anatolian service, and had a good flight on a day with full sunshine and less windy. Our pilot was Roorigo. With his experience, we did have a fanstatic landing: land and lock to balloon truck without any shaking ( not land to the ground). It would be better if he gave some explanations about the flight. So, if you wanted some info, please ask him, as I did. :)

One more thing is on the day we flied, our balloon was the last one flying of this company, and we had to wait for one person late coming. We were waiting at the launch site without knowing when we could fly as the sunrise was coming high. I then suggest, if there was such a case, Anatolian should inform us when we can fly, and how long we have to wait. To us, it was important to fly with sunrise coming.

We had an amazing time hot air ballooning in Goreme. It took two tries (it was too windy the first day), so would certainly recommend spending at least two days in Cappadocia to try and make sure you can do it. We debated between the higher class hot air ballooning companies (like Rainbow and Butterfly) versus the standard companies like Discover/Anatolian (they are the same company), and decided to go with Anatolian since it was around 40 euro cheaper per person. In the end I think we should probably have paid the extra. We were picked up at 5:45am, went to a nearby restaurant to have tea, etc., while they checked the weather conditions, and arrived at the takeoff location around 7. We sat in the car for about 45 minutes while they were waiting for the weather to clear (we assume), but no one came and told us what the situation was or how long we might have to wait. The flight was still amazing and totally worth it, and the pilot did a good job navigating, but wasn't very helpful in explaining the history, etc., as we heard other pilots were. They also packed about 35 people into the basket, and we were 6 in our subsection which was pretty tight, and they told us the flight was going to be an hour, and it only ended up being 45 minutes. Not a huge deal, but after paying that much money I was a little disappointed. To top it off, the champagne at the end wasn't anything more than sparkling juice. So all in all, great flight, but poor service.
