Owner description: You’ve never experienced true magic, until you’ve flown in a Hot Air Balloon over Cappadocia.

We had an amazing time hot air ballooning in Goreme. It took two tries (it was too windy the first day), so would certainly recommend spending at least two days in Cappadocia to try and make sure you can do it. We debated between the higher class hot air ballooning companies (like Rainbow and Butterfly) versus the standard companies like Discover/Anatolian (they are the same company), and decided to go with Anatolian since it was around 40 euro cheaper per person. In the end I think we should probably have paid the extra. We were picked up at 5:45am, went to a nearby restaurant to have tea, etc., while they checked the weather conditions, and arrived at the takeoff location around 7. We sat in the car for about 45 minutes while they were waiting for the weather to clear (we assume), but no one came and told us what the situation was or how long we might have to wait. The flight was still amazing and totally worth it, and the pilot did a good job navigating, but wasn't very helpful in explaining the history, etc., as we heard other pilots were. They also packed about 35 people into the basket, and we were 6 in our subsection which was pretty tight, and they told us the flight was going to be an hour, and it only ended up being 45 minutes. Not a huge deal, but after paying that much money I was a little disappointed. To top it off, the champagne at the end wasn't anything more than sparkling juice. So all in all, great flight, but poor service.

Should you do the hot air balloon ride? Heck yeah!!!!! In general, totally worth it. So the review is only for the company. Weather can be unpredictable which is why it took 3 tries, but no worries, if you have done another hot air balloon ride you know that it's all dependent on the weather. BUT that is no excuse to be a no-show on the first day. We waited for almost an hour then another looking for them and nothing. We woke up the manager from our hotel so he could call the company and follow up. The driver was good and everyone we interacted with was nice. To save costs some companies ship people from one company to another, so even if you book with them your balloon might be carrying another logo fyi.

Good staff, good pilot. Very gentle and at the end the made a toast with energetic drink. You can buy your pic for 10 lira. As many turkish man some staff team might be a little galating with women, specially if you're travelling alone.

It was a a nice experience, a must do in this area. Anatolian Baloon captain Seyit was skillful but his service could be much better we thought. We would think that a better safety briefing is necessary. I would like to learn about his experience and training, as well as his license. There was a champaign celebration at the end of the tour. Nice thought, however, the spirit was a cheap drink and there was a feeling as if we were expected to move on as fast as possible.
