Owner description: Cappadocia has unreal amazing landscape which makes Balloon flights one of worlds the top 3. The spectacular surrealistic landscapes combined with excellent flying conditions allow the balloons to gently drift over and between fairy chimneys, pigeon houses hewn into the unique rock formations, orchards and vineyards through impressive valleys, each with distinctive rock formations, colors and features and then float up over rippled ravines for breathtaking views over the region.

We have just come off a two week tour of turkey with a known tour company and we fell in love with that country. With all the mind-blowing experiences the one that raised our adrenaline level to a new height was our ballooning experience at Cappadocia in central turkey. Prior to coming to turkey we arranged our balloon flight over the Internet with a very reputable rrballooning company in goreme. On the day conditions were good and the flight was a raz. The company picked us up from our hotel in the morning. The pilot was great and fun. The views, sometimes very close up, were fantastic as we floated above the fairyland of the fairy chimneys and cave dwellings. Go for it it is great!!

An unforgettable ride that one takes at 5:30 am. Absolutely worth the hefty cash charged. The lift off is as smooth as silk and if you don’t pay attention you may find yourself in the air without ever feeling the elevation. The ride takes you for an hour's journey over the amazing landscape of Cappadocia with main attraction being the fairy chimneys. It also passes over the main town and over many hills & trees. The landing is something you need strong knees for as one does buckle over when it occurs. The last part is the champagne party with a certificate giving ceremony and photographs to remember it all by. I'll never have such a fantastic entertainment! It must be worth for around $200-300.

I went ballooning in Cappadocia in november 2010. It is a great experience, very beautiful landscapes during sunrise. BUT, it is not without its dangers: we had an accident while doing it. It was not serious, but we do not know why our ballon had to do a premature unscheaduled landing. We believe that the problem occurred when another ballon passed just above ours when we where very low, so maybe the pilot did not want to risk a collision (that could have been catastrophic) and landed in a plane but rocky landscape. During the landing, the ballon was moving very slowly forward, so the basquet hit the little loosen rocks three times and stopped. People in the basket got some bruises because of the bumps. When it stopped, the wind kept blowind the hot air ballon and turned the basket gently to its side (look at the last photo). I do not think it was a pilot fault, balloning has its risks.
It was not serious, but it would habe been it a very old person was in it, he/she could have broken a limb.
Great attraction, but it has RISKS.

An awesome experience, which should not be missed if you are in Goreme for some days... Starts at 6 am & going up in the sky, with chilly weather, is great... The view from above of the caves & the city is awesome, but, for me, it was enough at 30 minutes... Funny when the balloons collide with each other & when you greet other balloonists as the sky is filled with them... A must 'to-do' when in Goreme... :)
