“Good food, but rather expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

Located in central Göreme, the Local Restaurant provides a nice meal, although you'll probably find cheaper alternatives providing just as good food. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, ensuring a good atmosphere. Bread, cheese & olives were presented free of charge. I then had soup (5TL) and chicken on oak (22TL), both of which were very good. Especially the latter was excellent. The portions were large, making the soup totally unnecessary for me...

“Bland and extremely overpriced.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012 via mobile

Went here based on a good recommendation. At around 7 pm, we were the only people in the place, which should have been a red flag. Ordered a meze platter, and it was supremely average. A 33 cl beer was 7 TL which is ridiculous, considering most places you can get 50 for 5 or 6 TL. The staff was nice, but going through the motions. We left quickly and finished our meal somewhere else. No reason to go here. Keep walking.

“Changed ownership -now a fantastic meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2012

Just ate here last night and had a really fantastic meal . This place is under new management with a great new chef and I was so surprised with how impressed we bgoth were with our meal . Their aubergine salad rated in the top 3 that I have ever eaten in Turkey and our steak was superb. Having lived in Turkey a long time I am fussy as I know how good Turkish food can be and just how bad sometimes it is in tourist style places but this restaurant is excellent and well worth a visit.

“new management”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2012

we heard that the restaurant was under new management and went for lunch to give it a try. we ordered the penne arrabiata, crepe with chicken and mushrooms and fried ice cream at their outside dining area. the arrabiata and chicken were good but the fried ice cream was unbelievable! the ice cream was covered in a coating of pistachio nuts and drenched in chocolate sauce!! the crepe, although listed as a starter, was more than enough for me and was served with a small salad. the chinese boregi (spring roll) was nice and light. we spent a very enjoyable lunch-time there and will go back very soon. by the way, this is also the place where you have breakfast if you take the voyager balloon trip. the poacha (a local bread stuffed with cheese) was excellent.
