I am an American, married in Turkey, my husband is Turkish. After thirty years of marriage, living in California, when we went back to Turkey last October for our nephew’s wedding, my ONLY dream was to see Cappadocia. Through a friend of a friend, we heard of Mustafa. His hotel is in central Goreme (where you SHOULD be, in order to be centrally located). The hotel is his family’s home originally, but now expanded (and spotless). It was an authentic cave hotel without being claustrophobic.
Breakfast is included in all stays (on the balcony top of the hotel). You’ll get a local fresh brunch including lots of interesting foods, like mulberries.
The BEST part of staying at their hotel is that they TRULY run a family business. (You don’t have to worry about arranging a balloon trip, they will reserve it for you at no extra charge.) And they know the local companies, so your flight (A MUST) is waiting. Mustafa and his family speak good English, and if there is a request you have, they will fulfill it!
The hotel is located up a hill from central Goreme (about four blocks). I can’t decide what was more awesome, to be on the balcony of our room overlooking all the other cave dwellings, or breakfast with the multitude of balloons overhead.
I rarely do endorsements, but if you want a superlative stay, this is it!More
