“What a little gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2011

My friend and I decided to have a few days in Cappadocia before our usual beach holiday, so we did a bit of research and finally chose Dream Cave as our base. Great choice! It is essentially a backpacker's hostel, but we were given one of the cave rooms with an en suite. It was cosy, comfortable, and very clean, with plenty hot water and a radiator we could turn on if it got cold at night. Murat, who looked after us was wonderful. He made a very nice breakfast, better than we've had in some hotels in Istanbul, and was always on hand with a cup of coffee when we got back. We were leaving at 5.45am so said goodbye to him the night before as he didn't come in till 7.00am. Shortly after he came to us with a couple of packages - packed breakfast! We each had half a long loaf stuffed with about half a pound of cheese and 4 thick cut tomatoes. If your looking for a homely hotel to stay in the Cappadocia area, you won't go wrong with Dream Cave. It's on a hill overlooking the town with great views, and it's a short walk to Pigeon Valley - a photographer's paradise.

It's easy enough to find, close to both town and the crazy moonscape hillsides. The staff are absolutely wonderful. They will book your tours to the countryside and to whirling dervish ceremonies (both of which are totally worth the price). They make a lovely breakfast for guests every morning. The cave room was clean and spacious. I really cannot say enough good things about this hostel.

The bed is little old. But overall experience is great – location, tour arrangement, pick-up service, breakfast, room, friendly staffs, etc.

The Dream Cave Hotel is located a bit hidden but close to the bus station. I booked via internet with my girlfriend two beds in a 6 bed dorm room. Upon arrival we were informed that the dorm rooms are not mixed (male and female separate) although it wasn't stated during the booking . Luckily the dorm rooms were overbooked so we were given a double bedroom without any additional payments, even though the hotel staff was not very happy about the obligatory free upgrade and showed their disappointment openly. Even though during the online booking it was stated as a bed and breakfast, we were impolitely informed by the staff that breakfast is not included. The room we stayed was very authentic, it was carved into the stone and decorated with the traditional antiquities of the area.
The free upgrade made improved our stay considerably considering the value for money but otherwise it is a very average and basic accommodation.

The rooms are basic but clean and a good size. The hotel's location is great, off the main road in a residential area and there were guests from all over the world when I was there, Spain, Russia, American - different ages, too. The hotel has a very nice patio with a veiw over the town and caves where the generous but simple breakfasts are served.

I arrived late at night and was hungry. When I asked the guy working at the hotel, Murat, where I could eat he went out and got food for me and made a sandwich. Then the next morning I needed a computer disk and he ran and got one. He was very nice and very helpful and wouldn't take any money for doing any of those favors for me. The level of service at this hotel was better than what I'd just experienced in Istanbul at a four star hotel.

We came to Goreme at Chrıstmas. it was frozen. We stayed in a cave room which was pretty warm. Besides, the room is comparatively large and cozy. They also offerred domitory wıth low price. When you come in winter, try to stay in cave.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2008

The Dream Cave and Pension Hotel is in an excellent location in Goreme. We stayed during September 2008, part sunny, part cold in the evening, but always with beautiful sunsets across an unusual skyline.

Dream cave has excellent views of the stunning small town of Goreme. It has a very relaxing theme. 5 mins maximum walk into the small town where we found every restaurant we went to served us excellent quisine with friendly service. A lovely area to holiday in.

My partner and I decided to go for the true Goreme experience and stay in a cave room (at Dream Cave there is the choice). Both us enjoyed the room, although very basic, we found it was everything we had expected for the price we had paid.

Each morning breakfast is provided on the terrace, simple but enough to fuel you for the day ahead. The terrace was great for us, not many people used it and along with great views we were out watching the sunrise and daily hot air balloon extravaganza!

The cave room, as mentioned was basic. Goreme is so beautiful, with so much to see and do it would be safe to assume like us that you will hardly spend much time in it. Our evenings were cold, but the caves were naturally warm. Those who like modern or hotel style accomodation will find this primative. Durring our week stay we saw many tourists view the vacant rooms, virtually turn their noses up and carry on searching for alternative accomodation. There are many places to stay in Goreme but I doubt they can offer such value. On our first night we experienced a powercut, on the second night the whole town was without water! This was the whole town, and not just Dream Cave. We decided to wonder down into the town where there was a lovely "war time" atmosphere, with restaurants lighting log fires and offering BBQ meals instead! That night we still got a well cooked, good priced meal with a very warm welcome.

It was unfortunate that we had some problems with the propprietors durring our stay and found them to lack the hospitality that seems to come so naturally from everyone else in Goreme. But dont be put off, the experience is not to be missed. Expect budget, and I dont think you will be disapointed.
