What many people do not realize is quality is determined by who creates them. Master ceramics are much more expensive then the mass produced or student created pieces. We bought some master created ceramics from Omurlu on our last tour in Turkey. The art work is high quality and we are very happy we our choices. Yes, the master work is very expensive but is well worth the price. You may find cheaper ceramics in Istanbul but I do not believe the quality here can be beat. We had them shipped to Las Vegas and they came right on time as agreed upon.Beautiful art which we will enjoy and be able to hand down to our children.A ceramic store which has been in buisness since early 1800's is a treat to tour.

“Experience Turkish Ceramics”

The staff are all accommodating. There was a demonstration of how a ceramic pot is made and they even encourage the adults to try it out for themselves. Pretty fun for kids and adults alike. Then, the tour of how the designs are designed and hand made followed. Anyone who understands how intricate the details are when it comes to the design of the ceramics would understand why the ceramics are expensive.

Having observed the processes, we then explore the store - and I suppose, the marketing style of showing the work area, pretty much worked that we bought several pieces of souvenir - not cheap!

It was all good but then when we got back to Istanbul - we realized that there were cheaper options with better quality of craftmanship.

The place is a tourist trap - if ceramics are bought. We recommend visiting the place - but be very careful not to buy anything. There are cheaper options somewhere, for sure.
