Hotel Helen is simple, but modern and well presented. It's a good location central to the town and the waterfront area which has a nice range of bars and restaurants. Food and service was good. Wifi in the room worked well and was free. A good spot to access the Gallipoli Peninsula and surrounds.

The location is excellent if you want to catch the ferry over to Gallipoli. We stayed here overnight before catching the ferry the next morning.
The room was basic, but comfortable and we had a good nights sleep here. The breakfast was sufficient.

The Hotel Helen was recommended to us by friends who had stayed their several years before. Upon emailing the hotel direct I received an immediate reply from manager Ali Aldemir who confirmed our 2 night stay (without requiring credit card details!) and booked us on a small group tour to Gallipoli.
We arrived late into Cannakale and took a taxi from the otogar to the hotel although I believe there is a complimentary shuttle into the town. Hotel Helen is excellently located in the centre of town approximately 50m from the ferry.
Our fourth floor room was a decent size with a queen size bed and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom contained a half bath with a step in the middle to sit on???? Quite different! There was hot water in the shower but none over the sink. Towels were large and thick, bed linens crisp.
Internet was free and quick. The rooms did not have a safe. Breakfast was basic but adequate.
A good value room for 50 euro a night. Thank you Ali for all your assistance during our stay, and the gift was much appreciated.
HINTS – The Café Ka immediately across from the hotel does excellent coffee.
One of the best meals we enjoyed in Turkey was at Gulen Pide. Turn right after exiting the hotel and it is approximately 50m up the street. Judging by the number of locals eating there it had to be good!
Ali booked us a tour of Gallipoli with Hassle Free Tours. I would highly recommend this group who are located immediately left of the hotel. The tour costs 35 euro, starts at approximately 12 noon and returns at 7 in the evening. The guide was extremely informative.
Bus tickets are available from the many offices near the ferry. Buy a ticket, stow your bags on the bus, ride the ferry and then board your bus on the other side. The bus journey to Istanbul takes 6 hours and costs 50Tl. A complimentary shuttle then takes you on to Sultanahmet.

I stepped off the bus and spent an hour or so racing round about 8 hotels and pensions close to the port, checking rooms, prices etc. Hotel Helen was an easy winner, paid 120TL a night for a double, got comfort, quiet, cleanliness and good service. Made it quite a difficult decision to move on the next day!

We stayed here for 12 nights in a tripple family room. My wife had been the year before for the Hellespont swim and wanted to take us all back as she fell in love ith Canakkale. Ali the manager and all his staff were wonderful. We stayed in the new wing - the room was very clean with the benefit of a room that has only been used a few times as its just opened. Room serviced everyday with fresh towels. Like others have said the walls are not great soundproofing but we didn't find this a problem

Breakfast was a good selection - with lovely fresh bread and limitless coffee.

We ended up staying 4 nights in the comfort of this hotel where everything worked and was comfortable. Good lighting meant we could read when in bed. Only downside was the lobby computer which is in a very hot little alcove, but, hey, it worked and we just had to stay a few minutes in the heat - unfortunately, the wind in Canakkale whistles down the street and you can be almost blown over when you go out the door! Good breakfast, with cereals. Very handy to ferry and tourist info and post, which is a plus.

Room Tip: parking in the rear means it is actually quieter in a front facing room, as they have plenty of wind...

Friendly staff and a great location. This was our hotel stopover on our 2 day trip to Gallipoli and Troy. Breakfast was really nice with a lot of variety. Very close to everything from the ferry port to shopping to the esplanade with nice restaurants. Rooms are very spacious, modern and clean. Very pleasent stay even though it was short. Tip: great baklava cafe just around the corner, the best we found in all of turkey!
