There are many caravanserais around Bursa, Koza Han is one of the most popular and best preserved Han (han = caravanserai). Built in 1491 with 95 rooms, this square compound now is a silk market.

As a foreigner I always enjoy the hustle and bustle of bazaars even though there are many stalls selling the same items.

The silk market is in a beautiful building built around a courtyard with shops and cafes on the ground floor and the silk market on the first floor. You are spoilt for choice from the many different designs of scarves!

What a charming market, set in a two story historical building, with silk shops ringing the top floor and a charming tea garden with a little mosque in the center on the ground level. I regret I only bought five scarves. Prices here are WAY cheaper than Istanbul. And the selection is tons better too. Plus the little shops are easy to shop in, because no one is pushy at all and they all bargain, but not aggressively. Have fun!
