Owner description: This tomb, which is also the symbol of Bursa, is one of the most beautiful and unique samples of Ottoman tomb architecture. A lead dome perched on a high hoop covers the octagonal structure, which can be climbed via a marble stairway.

It was a nice humbling experience to visit this tomb and to get a feel of life back then and also to remember death.

“landmark but not spectacular”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

This is a large mausoleum that houses several tombs from the Ottoman royal house. It's significant for Bursa, and a landmark that's known throughout the country. It's basically a cylindrical structure with tombs in it, and that can be spotted from miles away.
The name comes from the Iznik (Nicea) tiles that adorn the interior walls and the tombs. The beautiful inscriptions and tiles on the exterior are interesting.
