Grand Hotel Temizel

A 2nd hotel organised by RSD advertised as 4-5* we stayed at was a long distance away from any village or independent café’s or shops, so only had access to few shops in hotel that were over priced. Internet is freely available to customers in their rooms but even with code there is NO signal available in rooms only in main lobby of hotel. Bedroom was clean on arrival but beds were not re-made or room cleaned properly next day & the hotel left a list of rules in room that stated guests were not allowed to use electrical appliances such as an iron or kettle in room or bring any food or drink not purchased from hotel into room & if found by housekeeping staff would be removed. Bedroom was over heated with no individual room thermostat to reduce heat as a consequence sliding doors to balcony were both completely covered in condensation. There was no plug in bathroom bath or sink so unable to have bath or wash at sink, second night we had to leave door open to reduce heat to enable us to sleep in February. The evening meal food in hotel restaurant was cold, over cooked & tasteless & breakfast was very limited with no hot food or fresh fruit available, only rancid butter, one sort of bread, one cereal, or salads & cold meat offered with undrinkable tea or lukewarm coffee. While groups of surly staff stood around restaurant chatting by tables & ignoring customers. When we went to pay final bill at reception additional charges for overpriced drinks we had not ordered or drank were included in our itemised bill we had to ask a refund for. This Hotel may be classified by RSD or Turkish Government as 4-5* but would not recommend any star rating. As staff were surely and rude, room was overheated & unclean the food was awful & we did not think it appropriate for hotel to issue Guests a list of rules & regulations in bedroom we had paid for to RSD

We stayed for 2 nights in January whilst on a culture tour. Hotel was mainly used by tour groups in winter. Hotel is isolated being several kms from Ayvalik with nowhere to walk out to. Rooms are clean and comfortable with good sea views. Food was the standard buffet with very little meat or fish for the dinner buffet. Scrambled eggs at breakfast were cold. Drinks were expensive.

I stayed here for one night with a tour group. The hotel is right by the Aegean, with views of the water and islands. My room was fine, with a decent-size balcony. The restaurant is huge and a bit soulless, and the food was fine.

The hotel is not the 5 star it claims to be, but it is a decent and OK place to stay. It was mostly Turkish families and Asian tourists that came in buses who stayed at the hotel...
Pros:
-Very nice, long and sandy beach
-Good size room, nice views of the Aegean from the balcony
-Large selection of food, you cannot go hungry
-Clean
-Nice big pool (the sea was pretty cold and it was windy, so we swam in the pool more than the sea)
-Free beach towels

OKs:
-The "water park" is a set of three water slides that stop running at 5 pm
-The only option is "all-inclusive" package during summer months

Cons:
-The air conditioning is centralized, and it works only when you are in the room and put the room key in the slot. So it takes at least an hour of staying in the room to get it to a comfortable temperature
-The mattress, sheets and bed are rather old, not what you would expect at a 5-star hotel
-Terrible soda and juice drinks
-Billiards/air hockey room not usable in practice (it was terribly stuffy and there was no personnel in charge)
-The minibar and bottled water prices are unacceptably high. There are water dispensers in several locations but you are not supposed to take food/drinks to your room. So what I am supposed to do when thirsty at my room? I filled my water bottle from the dispensers feeling kind of weird and it was uncomfortable (although nobody said anything)...

The air conditioning was a big turn-off for us, and the main reason we do not consider going back there, despite the beautiful beach and pool/sea. If it claimed to be a 3 or 4 star hotel with reasonable prices, I would give it a much higher rating...

Room Tip: Most rooms have a nice view of the Aegean, check with the hotel to get one with a nice view on one o...

Very average and the value overall not worth the money. Rooms are clean but the bed, pillows very old and uncomfortable. The food seems to have many options but the taste/ quality is low. We wouldn't come again.

Not sure about the price as I came on a tour package but I certainly like the hotel. You can admire the Aegean Sea from the room balcony, thus it is within walking distance. The Aegean Sea with its water so clear and blue, makes you feel peaceful and calm. However, there will be no ventilation in the room during summer, so be careful with leaving the balcony open. I killed 4 mozzies in one night.

Free wifi if you want to connect on a few hot spot (not in our room)
Service was ok but why charge for the spa and steam room?
The breakfast very good and clean restaurant, you must pay for any type of drinks during dinner though
