I have entered this review in the hotels section but really staying at the Bakkos Guesthouse feels more like staying at the amazing country residence of a rich friend. Set in the hills and vineyards above Kusadasi the Bakkos' rooms are spread amongst it's beautiful gardens , each room giving a great deal of privacy as it nestles in its own spot. Also each room has been individually designed and firnished to meet different needs ranging from a romantic setting for newly weds to a family suiyte with cooking facilities and its own play area. What we liked best were the dining arrangements. However many guests are staying , you all it together in a beautiful dining room at the biggest table I have ever seen and eat 'en famille' the kind of high class cuisine, which although it has a Turkish flavour, also is of the standard of a top London restaurant. It was so different from the very limited menus we found in most Turkish restaurants. If you are wanting to stay somewhere individualistic and beautiful with first class service and accomodation and better than your average big 5 star hotel, then this is the place for you.

If you want to visit Ephesus and the beautifull millypark you find a wonderfull stay at this guesthouse. It is outside the busy city of kusadasi, a small beautifull and quiet guesthouse with a swimmingpool and nice garden and good food. In the hills and the country side is this place situated. The rooms are big and cosy and the people who run the place are very nice. The little mini bus stops in front of the entrance and they bring you every where. It is a great transportation to go around. We did everything by dolmus even to millypark and that is 28 km away from the guesthouse. If you want to be away from the crowded area of Kusadasi then this is a great place to stay. friends from holland.

We stayed 5 days at Bakkhos and we loved it. It was like a home from home. Manuella, the owner (who is Dutch but speaks PERFECT ENGLİSH) was a wonderful host who was so helpful in advising us on the best places to visit in the area. Thank you so much for everything.
Rooms were spacious and modern without losing that tradional turkish feel. The restaurant was lovely, especially the garden setting. Food and wine was delicious and service was great.
I noticed that one tripadvisor review said it was hidden away and hard to find. It is hidden away from the hustle bustle which i loved but I had no trouble locating it.
I would recommend Bakkhos to anyone who wants to experience the real Turkey and escape the package crowds which are becoming harder to avoid these days.
We plan to visit again in September for longer this time.

We, a family group of 7 adults and 2 children had a wonderful stay at Bakkos in April 2009. Everything was great, the property, the accomodations, the extraordinary food, the staff. Manuela, her husband Orhan and all the staff made our days at Bakkos an unforgettable part of our trip in Turkey.

We are visiting Bakkhos for many years now and each time we have enjoyed hospitality, serenity and space. It’s a guesthouse, and not a triple A all-inclusive concrete beach resort. It’s all about the authentic building style with a personal twist. It can be a bit chilly in springtime, but that’s obvious and a personal choice. The solution to the lower temperatures is given by the personnel: an extra electric blanket, so no one has to be cold.
As for the location: it’s 3,5 kilometres from Kusadasi but just as close to sightseeing hotspots (Like Ephese and Milete) as you would be in downtown Kusadasi.
Every room is uniquely decorated with style, something common hotels lack.
In the morning an overwhelming breakfast, served freshly, in contrast to other hotels which have everything from a buffet. Again: the personal touch.
At night a delicious 4-courses dinner for 15 euros p.p. Where can you get a dinner for 15 euros and a bottle of house wine for 9 euros, compared to a downtown-restaurant price of 20 euros for a bottle?
Even between meals they have an excellent menu with small delicious dishes.
Manuela, Orhan and the other personnel are there to serve you, day and night!
A recommendation! You can really get the vacation-feeling in Bakkhos!

We spent one night in Bakkos earlier this month. Its about 2-3 kms off the main Kusadasi Highway and took us a long time to find as they have absolutely no sign posts anywhere. The place is quite beautiful with a lovely swimming pool and several little sit outs. However, we found it lacking in some respects. First, it is clearly meant to be a summer hotel and they were not equipped to deal with the unusually cold spring. Our room was freezing, the heating didn’t work and ultimately they had to give us (and other guests) electric blankets. The rooms are quite pretty but the bathroom was small and cramped. Food at the dinner was average and the wine expensive. Finally, we were quite surprised to find that we had been charged extra for the second cup of coffee we had at breakfast ! On the positive side, the owner, Manuela, is very friendly and informative, and the other staff was helpful. However, overall, we found it a little out of the way for sightseeing and not worth the cost.

As Bakkhos is a bit higher located than sea-level Kusadasi town, and in open nature area without buildings around , iearly spring time can be still more colder dounded, than man can expect, especially for guests not coming from West- Europe. But we have indeed, for guests electric blankets as an extra service, and the rooms can be heated up with our split airco system.
Also in the lobby or restaurant where we serve dinner or breakfast we have a stove and open fire place to make more ambiance. Every season has it s charm, we think. Our dinner price for 4 courses 17.50 euro per person is not expensive if you see what we serve, so many kind of "mezes", after a soup' than main course with salad and a dessert incl mineral water! Our wine compared with a restaurant in town , is only 11.90 euro per bottle and in town minimum you pay for a bottle 40 to 50 lira for the cheapest one, which is 18- 20 euro per bottle. Alcohol is expensive in Horeca in Turkey.
On purpose we try to find a reasonable price for our guests that they don t feel that they have to go out for dinner after one day travelling.
But we do not force you to stay here as well. In Kirazli village there are more lower prices to find for having something small local dishes to eat and very cosy and authentic.

This is probably one of my favorite hotels from our 2 week Turkey stay. It is peaceful, beautiful and truly inexpensive. Amazing value. One thing to note, though is that the hotel accepts a deposit via credit card but requires that you close your account out in cash. Bakkos is situated several kilometers from the busy Kusadasi beachside resort area, and really close to Ephesus-Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the site. It reminded me of a Tuscan villa built on a vineyard expect this guesthouse has been meticulously designed, landscaped and decorated on a Turkish vineyard. A magical place that you never want to leave. Service was excellent with staff always looking to take care of any needs, including a welcome drink as you arrive. Pet and kid friendly hotel as well. Dinner is Turkish style and takes place at a community table where all guests come together at night by a fireplace to socialize and share the dining experience. My husband and I did some traveling while we were there, but many came to just relax and enjoy themselves at the hotel, by the pool-reading books and swimming for over a week. Many brought their kids, finding the earlier dining time for children convenient as well as the garden area. I would definitely come back and stay for an extended period, just relaxing and hanging out in the magical and beautiful setting of this hotel.
