When making the run up the Turkish Riviera, it's nice to find a place that knows the meaning of service, the definition of which is "meeting or exceeding the customer's expectations." The one place I ran into service in my travels from Bodrum to Byzantium was in Kusadasi, at an adorable little pension called the Goldenbed (or is it the Golden Bed?). Nobody demanded to hold on to my passport, I got a beautiful view of the ocean complete with crossbreeze, a staff fluent in both Turk and English, a rooftop terrace and breakfast complete with olives the owner cures herself. You will never forget those olives.

Maybe it's not the olives, but the hand that cures them, Sandra, owner and proprietor, who came all the way from Australia to find herself in a new life in a strange land, complete with all the tales to tell of one who found herself running a hotel nine thousand miles away from her homeland. Go figure.

I have visited the Golden Bed twice in Fall '08 and '09. I will likely return again this year. A very clean house with a private feel. My room was average size, nicely decorated with wide bed and a balcony. The terrace just one floor up is wonderful. Enjoy a great view over Kusadasi when morning sun comes over mountains. Then smiling friendly owner, Sandra asks you what you would like for breakfast! Sitting there was so pleasant it delayed me from going into town. The short climb (2 min.) to the pension was gladly taken for the fresh air and great views.

The proprietor Sandra has those little homely touches, like a share hot water jug and a share refrigerator for travellers. She offers washing services and is very resourceful with "what to see and do" advice and information. She is friendly and helpful.

If you are not fussed about staying in a 4 star hotel, and you want to know what it's really like to live in Kusadaci but in comfort, this is where you stay. Awesome location (apart from the fact its on a hill). literally takes 2 minutes to walk to the main Bazaar and see Kusadaci, port is 5 minutes away. The hill walk is well worth it though, the view from the terrace is beautiful! Sandra and Kayhan are amazing and will do anything to make your stay comfortable. Definately going back

Anzac Golden Bed is a great place to stay, value for money, Sandra and Yusef are fantastic people, ready to help with suggestions of activities and places to see around Kusadasi. Rooms are decorated lovely, rooftop terrace is a great area to sit and have breakfast while looking over Kusadasi, sit and relax on the lounges after a day of sightseeing. Great location with short walk to central part of Kusadasi and port.

My fiance and I spent two and a half wonderful weeks traveling throughout Turkey. This was our favorite place to wake up! The owners, an Australian/Kurdish couple could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The guest house is a little set back from the seaside and tricky to find, but they came down to the seaside to meet us and guide us back up to where we could park our car (for free!). They set up a wonderful day trip for us (with free transport) to Ephesus. They helped us plan other places to go on the rest of our journey. All in all we had just a wonderful experience. And to top it off, they served the best and freshest breakfast (the simit was still warm!) we had on our entire trip. Enjoy the fresh olives, tomatoes and cheeses on the rooftop terrace overlooking the harbor of Kusadasi was quite a way to wake up every morning. While this isn't a 5 star hotel, it's a wonderful budget option that I would highly recommend.

Though a little bit far from the seaside, this small pension is still within the walking distance and easy to find if you follow the map on its website and the signs along the road. The owners Sandra and Yusuf are very nice and helpful, giving advices to your sightseeing. The quality of the room is reasonable for the price you paid and you will be able to enjoy a great view of Kusadasi on the roof terrance. Inall it is worth consideration on this place if you want to stay in Kusadasi.
