My family (husband, 2 adult daughters, and teenage son) stayed at the Stella Hotel July 15-17, 2011. We did not arrive to the Kusadasi bus station until after midnight. We stopped by the Metro Bus ticket office to inquire about the hotel and purchase return tickets and mentioned that we were staying at the Stella. The person at the ticket office picked up his cell phone and called the Stella Hotel. He then stated someone from the hotel would come to pick us up and they would arrive in about 5 minutes.
Hasan from the Stella Hotel picked us up from the bus station and mentioned he was worried that we had not arrived. Hasan speaks excellent English, so he gave us a great orientation and answered all of our questions on the way to the hotel. Once we arrived, he showed us around the hotel (very nice and comfy) and even took us out on the balcony so we could see the great views of the waterfront. Considering it was around 1 am demonstrates the hospitality was unwavering.

The room was dormitory style, nice warm shower, air conditioned, clean, nicely decorated, and waterfront view from the room. Breakfast was personally served and consisted of boiled eggs, breads, olives, watermelon, breakfast melon, coffee, tea, etc.

Hasan offered many tour packages, but we decided to take the offer of his friend Lily taking us to Ephesus. Lily spoke excellent English and was extremely pleasant. She also took us to the Temple of Artemis. Afterward Lily took us to Lily’s Authentic Art where in her air conditioned showroom she provided us a short history of theTurkish carpets she obtains from the many tribes in the area and presented the Turkish carpets (look very different from what you purchase from the department stores and is much cheaper). There was absolutely no pressure to buy. It was a nice break after visiting Ephesus (the store is about a mile from Ephesus in Selcuk). Lily then dropped us back at the hotel taking the scenic route.

The next morning Hasan continued his superb hospitality and even offered transportation to the bus station because we were short on time and it prevented us from having to wait for a cab. This was an excellent hotel with an excellent location (within walking distance from restaurants, shopping, scenic waterfront, etc.). Hasan and his family were absolutely wonderful and we will stay there again.

BTW-we are an African American family and felt truly welcomed everywhere we went; by the entire Turkish community.

PS-We had an early dinner at a restaurant on the waterfront in which I got food poisoning and had a true medical emergency. It was resolved within a few hours. I am not 100% sure because I am trying to identify the restaurant based on the receipt, but I believe it is Balik Ekmek (Ataturk Blvd No:1). When Hasan found out he inquired about my condition several times.

We found Hotel Stella in Lonely Planet and it had reasonable prices and a great location in the city. We showed up and received some of the best service we had in the entire country. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable, and available for any question we had. We almost lost our breath when we were showed our room. It was clean, very spacious, and had one of the most amazing views in the entire city. I would recommend Hotel Stella to anyone from backpackers to families travelling abroad. Make sure you ask the owners all the questions you have and they will help you plan trips to Greece and the surrounding sights, as well as recommend shopping, drinking and eating around the city. Hope you have a great trip!

Room Tip: Ask to be in upstairs rooms. Call ahead to be picked up from town with your luggage. Enjoy!

My friend and i expected to stay at hotel stella for only one night, but hasan and his family, as well as the rest of the hotel staff, were so welcoming and amenable that we decided to stay for four! Hasan gave us a full day's tour of efes, mary's house and took us to an incredible local restaurant for a very reasonable price, as well as had his friend pick us up from the hotel and take us back from his friend's
restaurant on the the beach two
days in a row, for free!! The rooms were very clean and spacious, and almost all had private, spacious balconies. The internet signal was strong and hot water was always available. Overall, i would highly recommend this hotel for its fair price, spacious and pretty rooms, and most of all for the hospitality you will receive. I would go back and stay there in a heartbeat and am recommending my friends who are visiting this month make a trip to kusadasi just so they can stay
there.
