“excellent holiday.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Came back on 16th August after a week at the Ephesia. Myself, my mum and daughter really enjoyed this holiday. We had one of the best rooms I think, and we didnt book anything extra but had a jacuzzi on our roof top terrace, with bathrobes and slippers, felt like we were in a spa. Only downside we had 4 flights of stairs to get up with no lift, ok for me and my daughter maybe a bit hard for my mum. On arrival at this hotel we checked in very quickly and was then taken to our room in a golf buggy type thing, which was great, no lugging 3 heavy suitcases and they were taken to our room. Tea and coffee making facilities and kettle, added bonus. Room cleaned every single day and towel art on our beds some days. Our cleaner was really lovely and topped things up every day, i.e coffee, toilet rolls etc...
Didnt join in with the entertainment but heard it was a bit close to the mark some nights!!!
Food was great lots of choice, waiters really polite if you show them some respect and I think they like the English as we are more respectful than some other countries!
Cant really fault this holiday at all, been a few places in Turkey, every time had a good time but this was by far our best holiday.
Not many English, but we met a great group of friends with children all the same age as my daughter. She loved the slides and pool, mum loved the beach. We stayed by the pool next to the slide pool every day. Bit noisy sometimes, but not offensive.
Great indoor market 5 minutes up the road, we bought loads, and was able to haggle quite easily. Got some lovely bags 3 for 80 euros. hard to haggle in hotel shop didnt really want to know!
My mum booked 3 massages and enjoyed every minute, was made to feel very welcome.
Overall a really good holiday, wish we had longer.
All staff very friendly and helpful.
Would definately go back again. Cant understand bad reviews of this place but sometimes just think some people just expect too much and love to moan.
Great holiday, great hotel and met the best people!
Have come back with a hacking cough and laryngitis but am not good with air con at all!!!

Room Tip: ask for a top floor room with jacuzzi. room 5821

The location is on the sea with a stunning view on the Greek island of Samos. The resort has a water slide section but MIN AGE is 10 years. I also counted another 4 pools, of different sizes. There is one which is very long and banana-shaped, with one side only 30 cm deep and the rest app 1.7 m deep so great for children (mine are 4 & 6). Clean and tidy.

The rooms are small, very light (curtains are not very helpful in the morning), yet the bathroom was ok. The rooms are in a number of buildings around the resort max 3 stories tall.

The main restaurant i what you can expect - buffet-style and pretty much the same all the time. The quality was ok, a bit to fad to my taste, but probably a safe bet with a mix of cultures, nationalities and ages. The wine and beer was really not very good, but they make fresh OJ (fee) in the morning and Turkish coffee and tea. Snacks, ice cream, sandwiches between meals so you'll never have to be hungry.

Certain water activities are offered at the beach.

There is a small play land open for 1 hr in the morning and evening and otherwise an area with air hockey, a few consoles and SEGA machines. Also a tennis court and beach volley.

Mini Club - for children 4 to 12, from 10.30 to 17.30 daily with a break from 12-14 (maybe closed once a week). This is pretty much just an air-conditioned room showing cartoons and animated by a nice lady doing paper-clippings, painting t-shirts etc. Fine for a break for the heat once or twice during the week but certainly not where you'd leave your kids everyday. The main problem is the lady and her helper only speaks German and Turkish.

The resort is app. 1 hr from Izmir airport and 10 min cab ride from Kusadasi. Ephesus, a very nice ancient city (ruins) is also in the vicinity (30 min).

The staff was helpful and nice, and as always Turkish people just love children so you'll always feel at ease here.

Room Tip: For a min sum (5-10 EUR) you can upgrade your room to a ocean view or larger family room. I only not...

Didn't see the negative reviews till we got back and I started writing this review. I thought it was really fantastic holiday and much enjoyed by my Daughter and Granddaughter (12) in fact they both said was the best holiday ever, and thats after 3 other Turkish holidays. Had a room with a Jacuzzi on the balcony on the third floor, rather a trek to climb the stairs, as no lift. Weather was terrifically hot, over 40 degrees most days, no shade round the pool, but plenty of beds and umbrella's. Beach was lovely and much cooler with a sea breeze. Food was brilliant, except the queues got rather long for popular dishes, plenty for everyones taste. I indulged myself with three treatments in the Spa, really good value and luxury. Only critism of the holiday was not many English, but thats no fault of the resort, I guess the Eastern Europeans are the ones with all the money to spend. Would love to go again, but when its less hot. Greatly recommended

This was my first time at this resort and after reading some of the negative comments on here, I was very relieved. This is a good resort with lots of amenities, yes there are some negative aspects but as long as you are aware of them, they will not affect you having a good holiday.

The resort is very clean and the staff worked hard throughout our stay, in all areas from the restaurant to the rooms. When we stayed the temperature was in the high 40s Celcius during the day and they were still working hard. Try and learn a few Turkish words and you will be pleasantly surprised at how differently you are treated. Rather than an ignorant Brit or a rude French/German/Dutch (delete as required) saying hello - Merhaba, good morning - Gunayadin, please - Lyutfen and Thank You - Tesheker Ederim, will ghet you a long way. Turks come from a part of the world where greetings and manners are important. Treat them with contempt and you deserve what you get.

The swimming pools were very good. Clean and safe, they occaisionally became a little cloudy but if you understand what chlorine does in alkaline water, then it is normal. They were certainly not 'salty'. The slides were great fun. As with virtually every resort in Europe, if you want your favourite place, get out of bed, put your towel out and then go back to bed. I got up at 6 a.m. every day, got our favourite spot and beat the Germans to it. Use your own towels to reserve the loungers, not the resort's green ones! The beach is well....small and not worth even going to.

Mealtimes - This is a busy resort so plan ahead. As it is all inclusive, it means no-one goes out to the local restaurants (shame) and it has to cater for a wide variety of tastes. Breakfast - get there before 9.30 when it is rush hour. It is very pleasant at 7 a.m. after placing your towels. Lunchtime - if it is busy, just wait a while, have a free beer at the bar or go back to the pool. there is plenty of food, all of it safe, salads washed in mineral water etc. Same goes for dinner...pick your time. Food is well labelled including Gluten information. The bread selection was superb as were the local desserts. I had no problem finding something to eat from a wide selection and neither did my VERY fussy 12 year old. If there was a dis-appointment, it was in the a la carte where the chef was writing cheques his body could not cash. The Italian was booked so we had the fish menu. 10/10 for presentation but 2/10 for execution, with overcooked fish, undercooked veg and the kids dish of rice, dry meatballs and chips was in-edible. A real shame considering the setting and no reflection on the staff who did their utmost to make us comfortable and welcome.

The Animation Staff (red coat equivalent) were excellent and made for a very enjoyable stay, watching the continentals make fools of themselves and organising plenty of games and dancing. Bravo and Clappy Clappy, although if I hear Good Morning by Judy Garland one more time....

Rooms - Clean and the Aircon worked although the filters could do with a clean and disinfectant (will not work if patio door is open or unlocked). Several people had harsh coughs on the return bus and I suspect this is caused by the aircon in some rooms. The beds are indeed....HARD. Bathrooms clean, hot water good, don't drink the water from the tap, use bottled water which is readily available.

You have to be very grumpy or incredibly fussy not to enjoy your stay here. I only gave the resort 4 stars because those little things, that you only get when you are NOT all inclusive were missing (decent beer/spirits, local food, better music, less busy etc) Go with an open mind, be polite and you will enjoy yourself!

Room Tip: Get a room away from the Ampitheatre if you want an early night. There are also some rooms with the...

just returned from ephesia beach hotel was ok good for famileys but beach dissapoining food good , but reason im on site is about turkish bath and spa .after good sales talk myself my wife and 2 small grandaughters went for a sesion which was ok but after getting takled into getting more things went from bad to worse not only were we not given what we were promised by the end of holiday we were made to feel like second hand citizens the main reason i booked thes sesions was for my wife who after a long illness and operation 2 weeks before holiday i wanted to give her a bit of spoiling insread she was left crying .not only didnt we get all we were offfered
we were made to feel small even on last day when we had to use the showers before going home which they say you can use at your leasure we were told there were no towels which was a blatent lie as friends of ours got thers from a large stack just before us so ourselfs and 2 small girls had no towels to dry ourselfs also as my wife was trying to get ready one nasty looking girls stood with arms crossed in bathroom watching her obviously wanting us to leave wich meant she had to finish getting rady in public toilet PLEASE be very wary with these poeople if they can do it to us they can do it to anyone, we will be contacting first choice with a formal complaint as this totally ruined our holiday .

This was our second year at an all inclusive hotel in Turkey and unfortunately the Ephesia Beach club was a bit of a disappointment compared to our hotel last year, despite both being 4 star resorts. But saying that, we did have a good holiday and there were some things in the hotel that we really liked. We travelled as a family of 4, children aged 9 and 6, and we went for 1 week at the end of July / beginning of August.

It is an unusual hotel as everything is either outside or open to the outside, I cannot imagine how they cope if it rains! Even the reception desk is outside. This sounds lovely but in the summer when temperatures are still 30 degrees plus at night there is nowhere to cool off with air conditioning except your own room. It is clean but the photos in the brochures and on websites are very flattering, it is not a pretty place, gardens need tending and the grass is not green! There are very few English guests here, mainly French, German and Scandinavian, all pleasant enough though. Staff were excellent, very polite and spoke very good English. Unfortunately my partner needed to see the hotel Doctor (don't worry it wasn't the food!) and had excellent service. He was taken immediately to a private hospital where they spoke good English and was treated very well. No one wants this to happen on holiday but if the worst happens it is good to know you'll be looked after.

ROOMS....Ours was lovely. We had a family room in the white block behind the Spa. We were on the 2nd (top) floor which gave us a sea view as well as a high vaulted ceiling which made it seem quite airy. It was large and very clean. It had a good size, very modern, wet room style bathroom and a decent size wardrobe with hanging space, drawers and shelves. Balcony had table and chairs and a place to hang your wet swimsuits. There is a fridge stocked with water and although it is not refilled, you can get large (1.5 litre) bottles for free at the restaurant. Air conditioning worked well and at this time of year you really need it. Only bad thing was the floors are really slippery when wet so do be careful, and you have to pay at reception if you want to use the safe, only 2 euros a day though so not too bad. I did find it hard to sleep though as there seems to be quite a bit of noise at night, (noisy air conditioning, noisy plumbing, cars and the local mosque calling to prayer at about 4.30am!)

POOLS.... I did not like having to reserve sun loungers by 7am but this was necessary as everyone did so despite notices telling you that towels would be removed if you did! The first day we didn't do this and there was nowhere left. The pools are all very clean and all very different, catering for different tastes in holidays. The trick is finding the right one for your family's tastes! It took us a few days to find the quietest one as we are not ones for the full blown forced entertainment. Take this advice and you should be able to suit your needs!
The large pool on the sea front is the entertainment pool. If you like loud music, pool games and joining in with holiday camp style entertainment this is the pool for you!
The slide pool is also at the sea front. Slides are only open for a couple of hours morning and afternoon and there is a lifeguard on duty during these times. Slides were good, the kids loved them, but we tended to just go for the odd hour as there is no room to swim there and again it has constant very loud music.
The pool behind the slide pool is ok but you can still hear the music!
The pool with the bridge across it is very nice, much quieter and has a large shallow section ideal for toddlers to play. The ground floor rooms in our block had their own access to this pool from their terraces, looked very nice.
The pool by the spa was our favourite as it was by far the quietest. It has a bar serving soft drinks, beer and coffee and a fantastic jacuzzi. It was big enough for the kids to take in their inflatables and there seemed to be quite a few kids for them to play with there.

BEACH.... Ok, nothing special, only went on the first morning as no sun loungers left anywhere else!

RESTAURANT AND SNACK BARS.... The main restaurant was disappointing, enormous, very busy and very little atmosphere.Too much like a canteen for our liking. The food was fine but nothing special. The salad bar was very good, a huge choice of lovely fresh healthy food but I was not so impressed by the hot food. It was varied though and it was hot, despite what other reviews said, I can only imagine that some people wander around so long choosing what else to eat that theirs is cooling down by the time they get back to their tables. Also no it is not English food, you are in Turkey, if you want English food stay in England! But some of it was quite bland and there were queues for the grilled meats and fish and the stir fries. Desserts were not to my liking but Turkish desserts are extremely sweet. Breakfast was poor, didn't even bother going for the last couple of days.
The snack bars are quite good and make a nice change for lunch. The Turkish bread cooked in the open oven with meat or cheese was delicious.

BARS...During the day there are bars around the pools but these all close in the evening leaving just the main bar. This was very busy, sometimes hard to get a table, and very noisy with music. We would have loved somewhere quieter to relax in the evenings. There are no cocktails included in the all inclusive package unlike our hotel last year which was disappointing. There was a large punch bowl you could help yourself to but I have no idea what was in it, tasted a bit like cough mixture! Kids loved the slush puppy machine though and making dens with the large cushions on the lawn!

SPA... We went for a family spa treatment, all had Turkish baths and face masks, (chocolate ones for the kids) and massages (adults only). Very nice, special deal £40 per adult, kids free.

TRIPS...Went to Ephesus on half day trip, very interesting, would recommend. Take water it is incredibly hot even at 9am!

If you haven't booked yet I would check out other resorts before doing so but don't worry if you have as we still really enjoyed our holiday. Personally I would not travel to Turkey at this time of year again. Last year we went in the May/June half term and it was quieter and nights were cooler.

Room Tip: I requested a quiet room before we went and although it was away from the bar so quieter than some...

After reading the reviews on here, I was abit sceptical about the holiday and what to expect. The Hotel, Food, Swimming Pools were amazing. Beach was ok outside the hotel but there was a few rocks on the shore line.
If you head right on the beach, next door there is a place called Captain Beach Bar and Restaurant.
The food and beach are excellent and a real home comfort selling bacon butties with HP brown sauce and PG tips tea.
They have a decked area right on the beach front with sunbeds, parasols etc and the sea has no rocks. Lyndey, Kadir and all the staff at Captain Beach are very welcoming and couldnt do enough to make you feel more welcome. Defo worth a visit and very reasonable on price.

Dont listen to the bad reviews on here, its people who are just picking fault at very very small things. Me, My husband and my 11 year old son went for 1 week and couldnt have been happier with the holiday we actually recieved.

There was alot of French, German and Polish at the hotel but there was a handful of English / Scottish and American too.

If you go outside the hotel, cross the road to the bus shelter, you can catch a mini bus to Kusadasi (the number 6). Takes roughly 10 minutes into town and costs 2.5 lira for adults each and kids go free. Shopping is excellent and the town is huge with lots on offer, but you must haggle, half there first price and half it again. We came back with some great bargains.(Ugg boots, Designer Clothes, Perfumes, Beats By Dr Dre, you name it, its there)

But overall a great family holiday and will defo be returning to Ephesia holiday beach club and also Captain Beach for my bacon butties.
