Palmin Hotel

Not a 4 star hotel by Western European standards but the hotel seems to have achieved the rating due to the facilities they offer eg. spa, pool, restaurant.
Pros -
Everything was kept very clean with excellent standards of hygiene throughout - no holiday tummy!!
Food was very good but I could see that the more 'conservative' guests were only interested in chips and ignored all the lovely turkish food on offer
Nice pool area and also enjoyed the water slides for the 2 hours a day that they were available.
Location is good - a 10 min walk from Ladies Beach and the number 5 Dolmus stops in front of the holiday every few minutes and brings you down to the harbour in Kusadasi
Plenty to do in the area - would really encourage people to leave the pool for a day and explore the sights but most guests didn't seem to even know what country they were in

Cons
Staff are certainly hard working but are friendly to the point of being way too familiar - I am sure this is welcomed by families with children but we found it over the top.
Bathrooms are dated and shabby - shower was useless. Bed linen consisted of rough sheets with holes and stained coverlets. Rock hard pillows - one each. And then to add insult to injury there were warnings in the hotel directory that guests would be charged extra if they stained bedclothes with fake tan or fake holiday tattoos or hair dye!!
The worst part for us was the evening entertainment down at the pool. We had a pool view room on the 5th floor with a nice view over the sea - this was completely spoiled by the music on the entertainment nights - sleeping was impossible - it was booming into the early hours and put a real dampner on the holiday for us - 2 weeks of very little sleep on holiday is not what we had expected. Couldnt even watch telly in the room it was so loud.

We loved Turkey and loved the Kusadasi area but came home tired rather than chilled out. This hotel seems to cater towards a particular type of holiday maker who is only interested in bingo, chips, drinking, smoking and sunbathing. If that's your thing then you'll love it. If you prefer a cultural experience and a discreet professional hotel then steer clear of the Palmin.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep then sacrifice the sea and pool view and get a room at the back

We arrived as a family of 3 adults and 2 children age 8 and 11 yrs. Our first impression of the hotel was clean and the surrounding lobby area was modern and comfortable. Our rooms were clean, the balcony was most spacious and we were surprised by the maid service which came every day; our towels and bedding was changed daily. There is also a pool towel service at this hotel, so don't worry about taking towels; you hand over your card and they provide you with large clean towels for the pool or the beach. The most local beach is a 5-10 minute walk; ladies beach is picturesque and on a stretch of shops, pubs and restaurants. A great beach but very overcrowded so I would recommend you using the hotels free bus to lost paradise beach a 5-10 minute drive;here you will have free sunbeds and parasols and it feels as though your on a private beach as this is only shared with another hotel, the sealight. We were also able use the free canoes and pedaloes that were provided for the sealight hotel. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, where drinks were serviced until 12am but you were able to purchase drinks after this time. The drinks were good; sprite, fanta, coke local branded vodka, gin, schnapps, rum, even the wine was nice to the palette which is unusual for all inclusive. The beer is the locally served efes, which again is what you would buy from local pubs. There was none of this only 2 drinks per customer, which is what I have experienced in other all inclusive hotels, and if you ordered several drinks, a waiter would bring them over to your table; special thanks to jimmy and Ronaldo! They have a cocktail list, as all inclusive you were able to have sex on the beach, gin fizz, blue lagoon and a rum cocktail! All staff were accommodating and friendly and we really appreciated the waiter service to our sunbeds around the pool. The coffee tasted great and there were water coolers situated around the pool. The pool was spacious and included 2 water slides that operated from 1 to 3 pm; the slides were supervised by the entertainment staff so hence why they were only open for 2 hours; the entertainment staff were great; so mention must go out for Ozzy, Mermet, and Tarzan. They worked from morning til night and even took those who wanted to experience the bar strip of pubs etc out on pub crawls after the evening entertainment finished. Evening entertainment was initially the kids disco then belly dancers, magic show, bingo/virtual horse racing, turkish night, circus show, singer with guitar who sounded great. Not the best entertainment but it was watchable and as we had great company and really enjoyed ourselves, we wouldn't complain. They really kept you in the holiday spirit and gave you opportunity to join in with darts, table tennis, pool, games in the pool and water polo. Music was also played around the pool area. The food was okay and we always found something we liked; selection of salads, rice, chips, potatoes, beef, chicken and fish. The deserts were bright in color and strange tasting but you have to remember you are in turkey and not the UK. Ice creams around the pool area were about 1.5 Lira and the snack food at the pool area was good. Again this was a waiter service where you chose from a small menu of burgers, pizza, nuggets, pasta and salad. Kusadasi is a lovely area, it's a 30 minute walk to the resort which includes pigeon island, and the port. We walked it which was a struggle in 40degree heat and welcomed the 10 Lira taxi ride back to the hotel. The dolmus buses are very regular and charge only 2.25 Lira each which is cheap but it will work out cheaper by taxi if there are more than four of you as taxis take up to 5/6. We went on an excursion to Ephesus, and recommend going with Sunwind down on ladies beach, they were much cheaper than our first direct reps. It was amazing, seeing old roman ruins and hearing historic tales, thanks to my dad for arranging this or the Palmin staff would call him, Mr Bonjour! Overall an enjoyable holiday where we all had a great time!

Got back from the palmin yesterday and I have to say I enjoyed every minute. The hotel is set on a big hill so was a bit dangerous to cross the roads but overall the location was spot on. It was far away from the centre but not too far away. It was only a small walk to ladies beach (which I didn't enjoy, no atmosphere or entertainment, probably would be ok for a meal but apart from that it was boring) and 5 minute ride to kusadasi centre, which we just got a taxi to as it was about 12lira in a taxi so was cheaper for us (we were 7 people) than getting the bus. Kusadasi centre is bustling with restaurants/cafes and shops. Enjoyed it there.

Back to the hotel, its not like a lot of all inclusives I've heard about in turkey where you are limited to how many drinks you can have at a time (heard a lot about this of reviews for all inclusives in marmaris) you could just send one person to the bar order how many you want and one of the waiter/waitresses would bring them to your table. The vodka measures were very generous! Also the beer is real efes and served in tall glasses. Cocktails are sex on the beach, blue lagoon and a special cocktails all very nice. Also they do proper soft drinks fanta/diet coke/coke/sprite not rip off turkish brands.

Food, well I honestly enjoyed the food and everyone I spoke in the hotel said it was fine. Yes the kids menu wasn't brill but our little one was obsessed with rice and chips lol! They put meatballs, sausage, chicken nuggets on the kids menu along with rice and chips so not a great variety but like I say it was ok for ours.

The adult food was varied as far as I could see, sometimes they had beef sometimes fish or chicken there was always about 4 or 5 containers with meat dishes in I often went for the turkish option if it was meatballs they did these very well. Always was rice and chips on too but you get that in every restaurant in turkey. There was always a vegetarian option on like spaghetti, sauteed vegetables or vegetable curry. These were also ok. The salad section had plenty of choice I liked the salad with the feta cheese also they had pickled cabbage and beetroot which I love. Loads of turkish meze dips to choose from too and always fresh bread. Soups were nice they were changed every day there was mushroom, tomato, vegetable they were all nice.also the desserts were amazing they had a lovely apple pie on our last day. I think a lot of people on this are people who are wanting burgers/pizzas and stuff all the time but you arnt going to get that in a turkish all inclusive, anywhere in turkey its always going to be this buffet style stuff. If you're wanting steaks and stuff you're gonna have to go to a more expensive all inclusive in cyprus or something.

The breakfast on a morning was good, yes repetative but again you'll find this in every hotel in turkey. They had turkish sucuk sausages, with scrambled eggs and boiled eggs on offer. A man who cooked omelettes. Also they had the usual turkish breakfast of feta cheese, tomatoes olives and cucumber. They had about 8 different types of cheese on a morning. Coffee out of the machine was lush. Again fresh bread and a toaster the butter was awful but I just put the jam on my toast.

Snack bar round the pool I ate in that about 4 times I'm not one for loads of junk food on holiday but it was good for the kids I suppose.

You have to pay for ice creams but they're cheap, 1.5lira for a fruity lolly and the magnums and cornettos were only 3 lira. Hot choc is extra too 6 lira but it was gorgeous.

I had a pool view and it was amazing, rest of family had the back view which was just houses. Also pool view rooms are cooler.

As mentioned in other reviews you get towels provided by two very friendly lads with your towel cards these are freshly washed every day.

All in all I loved the hotel and would love to return to it. Only downfall was that my shower smelled of turkish drains, so if you're in room 306 you're gonna get that :)

Just back today from the palmin and it was great , the food was very poor though , very little selection , the staff were all very good and were always ready to bring you drinks(all inclusive) . I went with 3 kids and 4 adults and we all had a great time , the market was great aswell not recommended for kids though . Overall a good holiday and would go back if the dinners improved as they were awful .

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view, preferably 3rd floor and up for a good sea view

Food was not nice at all except for the chicken nuggets at the pool bar. Handwashing the glases in the sink without wiping the rims. Staff were lovely though. Kids loved the slide but its only open two hours a day. Wi fi is not free except for in the lobby. Ive stayed in the palmin the sunset and the sea pearl and will definitely go to the sea pearl next year. This hotel is only just gone all inclusive but i dont know who rated it for stars ..... Maybe they did

I stayed for 2 wks on August with 4 other family members, the hotel it's self is really good, room very clean and everything u need in them, pool area very big really big Pool suitable for all ages, plenty sun loungers. Cleaning staff very friendly, entertainment staff excellent, kids clud was really good the staff are really good very friendly, my daughter loved it! inside bar staff very good always asking if u need drinks, pool bar staff a bit ignorant and long wait on evening if ur by the bar, not bad location plenty buses past hotel every few mins or taxis waiting, pool side snack bar ok BUT buffet resturant is horrible very repetitive, bland, food reused over and over till its gone flys on most of food as its mainly open ( was at doctors 3 days into holiday due to this) NEEDS MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT! Ladies beach was really good plenty resturants & shops, SOME WHERE ELSE Irish resturant is excellent would defo recommend!! Market on a Wednesday in kusadasi town is very good for all ur fake designer good BUT do haggle as they will except, I really enjoyed my holiday (except the food) and would go bk to the hotel just not eat the food, (at least I know what to expect now) the hotel would benefit from going bk self catering as well as I can't fault the hotel its self,I would recommend this hotel but DEFO warn people about the food! overall enjoyed it alot! :-))

We stayed here for a week in August. It is a first class hotel with very friendly staff. Very clen, lovely pools and 5 mins from ladies beach. An all inclusive hotel. All drinks and food is free. Beer is even served in real glasses, all day at pool, in bar, foyar etc. It was the cheapest holiday we ever had. No need for any money unless you go down to bar street where every drink is dear. Free shuttle bus service to beach and town from hotel and back. The staff even bring you to Jimmy.s Irish bar at midnight and get a free taxi for you to get home. The food is like any all inclusive hotel, but better than most. Someone has posted on this site about serving food in TINS & LIDS and cooking with candles. This person is not used of much and has certainly not travelled. All hot buffet food is served in tins and candles to keep them hot. This is in every hotel for a hot buffet all over the world, even in Ireland. I would certainly recomend this hotel to anyone. Staff cannot do enough for you. I cannot understand all of the negative people on this site, they would complain about everything. Everyone we met in the bar or at the pool were full of praise for this hotel. Well done to everyone.
I hear it is an Irish owned hotel with the sea pearl and Jimmy's Bar.
