Kustur Club Holiday Village

Reviewed October 4, 2012

We'd booked our seven day holiday as a very last minute thing. The idea was to find a good value all inclusive resort where we could sit by the pool for a week doing nothing but reading books, drinking and occasionally cooling off by going for a swim. The Kustur Club provided that perfectly.

The resort is very clean and the room was spacious with a balcony, perfect for sitting out on during the evenings. The food was good with lots of variety. The main buffet restaurant was large and has lots of outside seating with a great view of the seafront. The only problem was the large number of wasps but I suspect they are absolutely everywhere at this time of year in Turkey. The a la carte restaurants were very good, with lovely food and friendly service.

The main pool is large with loads of sunbeds and it was never a problem getting two sunbeds together, whatever time of day. There are also some slides which were amusing to use from time to time. The pool bar was quick at serving with a wide variety of drinks.

However, we spent most of our time at the silent pool so we could just sit around reading. Again, a good sized pool but not quite as many sunbeds. If you want to get a couple of them together and in a decent position for the sun, I'd recommend getting towels down before you head in for breakfast but you don't need to be up stupidly early. The silent pool also had a small bar with a few soft drinks, wines and beer available.

The private beach for the resort really is fantastic though. It's 30 seconds over the road (accessed by a tunnel) and really is lovely. Very clean with clear water and the shallows extend for quite a way out. Amazingly quiet. We never had any problems getting any sunbeds and when we went for walks along the beach after our evening meal, we had the whole beach to ourselves. Again, there is a beach bar with the same collection of drinks as at the silent pool.

The weather was excellent. It is hot but there is a nice sea breeze. On the second to last day there was a short rain shower but this quickly passed and we were told it was the first rain they'd had since March.

Staff were friendly and helpful but some couldn't speak English well. However, the reception staff and guest relations all spoke very good English.

There were very few other British guests at the resort. Most were German or French. But that was fine with us!

There really isn't any need to leave the resort but on one night we went into Kusadasi. It's very easy to find a restaurant that will taxi you back and forth from the town centre for free as long as you eat there.

Overall, a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Couldn't have asked for anything more for the price. If you just want a quiet week relaxing in the sun, this is extremely good value.

Room Tip: It is worth getting a superior room. They have balconies and are closer to the pools/restaurants/bea...

I have to say that this place was fantastic. I have been to a lot of countries and travelled in a lot of different ways (7* to 0*!). The people on here saying this is not a 5* hotel are not very well travelled in my opinion. Clearly this is not the ritz, but it is probably one of the best paces I have stayed in.

We arrived and had no 'tickets' for the accommodation. I was on the verge of freaking out when the lovely reception man had a chat with the other half and had the matter sorted within about 7 minutes. We were brought to our home (as I called it) by a lovely man who gave us a 'city tour' of a lot of the resort. We were already very impressed.

I cannot praise the animation team and the waiters/waitresses and cleaning staff enough. I cannot believe how much they put in to the work they do. We were just there for a week, but I never once saw an employee in bad form or annoyed, despite (I'm sure) some trying guests!! We also had our beds changed 3 times in 7 days in the fridge EVERY DAY was a fresh 1.5l of water which is a nice and unusual touch.

The a-la-carte restaurant was amazing. Even if you do not like the food (over 3 theme choice nights), the setting itself was stunning. We went for the fish night and were very impressed. The waiter was amazing and the 'all inclusive' wine was included so we could really make the most of the night.

There is everything here. We had an medical emergency and had our 24 hour nurse who ordered a doctor straight away. It was an invaluable service that probably saved us a fortune in the long run.

I have already gotten my parents to stay here on their next visit to Turkey - i honestly cannot recommend this place enough. I am just dreading going back to work!!

Remember to interpret all reviews in context to the actual location of the trip. For example, with respect to hotels in Turkey, I would agree with most other reviewers that Kustur club is not 5 star standard in comparison to a 5 star hotel in Istanbul. However, Kustor club is 5 star standard for Kusadasi.

Overall, the resort was well maintained. Grounds (swimming pools, zoo, outdoor eating areas) were clean and tidy. Rooms could be viewed as outdated, but given the traditional Turkish village theme of the resort, it is very much in keeping. The resort is definitely catered towards families with young children. Excellent kids club. Entertainment available evry night in the outdoor amphitheatre. Security is reassuring. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Obviously, English is not this country's first language, so you have to expect and understand that not all communication with staff will be staightforward. Having said that, most people understand and try their best to make your stay comfortable. Majority of guests are french, german, turkish, and very few english. This was the beauty of going on holiday abroad. The private beach is across the road, direct access from resort under a bridge. Lovely view of the Agean sea. Sand not very clean but ok, neverthelss still nice. Umbrella beds free of charge. Lots of beach activities available including eater ski, wakeboard, sailing, diving etc. Spa for turkish bath experience is also on site.

The only negative/ constuctive critisism would be the maid cleaning service of the rooms. The cleaners would often leave the room smelling awful, sheets not cleaned, few insects resulting in night bites. I understand its a hot country and midgets cant be helped, but given that I've stayed in other 5star hotels in similar surroundings, I know its possible for room cleanliness to be improved.

My favourite was the food. According the locals, its the best in Kusadasi. I agree. Huge variety available for all meals in the buffet. 2 A la carte restaurants on site too, but not really worth paying for given the excellent quality of food served at the buffet and live grill stations.

All inclusive package mean all meals and inbetween snacks available all day. Absolutely worth it. Takes a way the worry of having to look for somewhere to eat. Guests from all over the world will be more than satified with the food options, children have their own mini buffet too. Great idea. Chefs keep a close eye on food standards.

Holiday experience was great at Kustor, excursions eg. to Izmir from the resort are available to book during your stay, should you feel like leaving the resort for a change. Otherwise, you could easily stay a week on site in complete relaxation.

Room Tip: Rooms with pool view are larger.

We are a British husband and wife in our fifties, do not normally write reviews but here goes. We are not complainers by nature but would not say this was a five star hotel. Mostly down to the carpet in the bedroom area being grubby and also the sunbeds and sun mattresses were very tired and scruffy! The beach (sand) is also a bit neglected, but the sea was lovely and you can walk out quite a way before it gets too deep, the waves nearly knocked you over sometimes but it was great fun!! We feel it was more a family hotel, there were an awful lot of small children (we went first two weeks of September), which made for pretty noisy meal times in the buffet restaurant. Having said that, my opinion of the food is that it was very good, huge selection, even the most fussy eater should find something that they like! We did not try the A la Carte restaurants as my husband likes very basic English fare, Steak and chips for example, I do despair sometimes!!!!!!!!!!! so cannot comment on those. Also, the majority of tourists when we were there were French and German, very few English, it just made it very difficult to converse with other people or make friends (we obviously do not speak any foreign language ourselves). However, where possible we tried to use basic Turkish with the staff. The biggest downside for us was that there was nowhere to walk to outside of the hotel in the evenings. OK, Kusadasi town is only 5-10 by Dolmus away, but you do not always want to get on a bus. We also did not think that Kusadasi itself was as nice as other harbour towns we have been to (Bodrum and Fethiye being examples) so did not want to go there every night. On the positive side, all of the staff were extremely friendly and as accommodating as possible, at least that it how we found them, but by example, we were always polite and friendly with them, after all it costs nothing to be polite!! On the whole a nice holiday, very relaxing, we did nothing all day but sunbathe on the beach or quiet pool (we did not go to the pool with the slides, too noisy for us). We normally do a couple of trips but quite frankly just couldn't be bothered this time. Ephesus is only about 25 minutes away by car, worth a visit if you are into ruins etc we would think. Also, just wanted to say, we went with Thomas Cook and our rep Angela was a real sweetie, we did not need her services but we spoke with her a couple of times and she was always very willing to go out of her way to help or give advice. For getting around in Turkey we always use the Dolmus buses, very cheap. It is approx 2-3 miles to Kusadasi town and the Dolmus cost just 275 Turkish Lira per person each way!! Also, we travelled to Ozdere (45 mins away) and it only cost 750 Turkish Lira per person each way! (we felt we would have been better placed to stay in Ozdere as there were a few bars and restaurants here that we could have gone to for a drink in outside of your hotel facilities in the evenings. I suppose if you are happy to spend ALL of your time in your hotel and not venture outside then Kustur may suit you, we all like different things so can only say as we found it for us.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer to the quiet pool are quieter (as you would imagine) as they are further away from the...

We went to the kustur club with 6 friends in total.
The hotel is located very good, only a short taxi ride to Kusadasi and close to Ephese.
The beach is a blue flag beach, but a little dusty. You don't have to pay for sunbeds or umbrellas which is always a plus.
As for the food, it was basic, not that great. There was no great variety at the grill, this may be because the islamic people can't eat pork because of their religion. When there's fish it's always mackerel but the rest of the food was in general just ok.
The rooms are tidy, cleaned often and may be a bit old but hygienic and that's the most important part.
The alcoholic drinks are local, so there are no brands for all inclusive guests.
There's no great variety in animation, but the beach party was pretty cool, and worth the extra 5 euros.
Staff are friendly, Osman is a great waiter, some of them might look past you, but hey that's a restaurant I guess? ;)
At the pool they like to play very loud music so you might want to get a seat out of the decibels. At the beach they also play some music but less loud.

There was one point which I didn't like about the hotel at all. Every single day when you walk to the restaurant there's photographers asking to do a photo shoot. They exaggerate the positions, and then afterwards you can ask to view your pictures in a little wooden cabin near the pool. They charge 5€ per picture. Which is a total ripoff. So when you meet them, just decline or take the shoot and don't go to the cabin to see your pictures. After all, just go to the beach at around 7pm and ask someone to take some pictures, they will be great.

Overall, good hotel, no great variety in food, clean rooms, annoying photographers, nice pool, billiard/game room and little squirrels jumping around.

Just got back and I had intended to write a long review but actually Scott D of London has said it all. Lovely place, super beach, water sports and food. Just one thing, if you do not like walking or have a disability insist on a room 100-300 or 700+ because all the others are VERY FAR from everything. Having said that I found that the long walk to our 500+ room just ensured that despite the lovely food I did not gain any weight. The staff are nice especially the girls in the Ada Cafe and the team on the watersports. Hope to be back.

Room Tip: Maken sure your room is near to amenities since the complex is VERY LARGE.
