Fantasia Hotel De Luxe Kusadasi
Ranked #34 of 156 Hotels in Kusadasi
Reviewed May 13, 2013

PRO
- We reserved a "standard room", it was big, pretty modern and very clean. it felt like it was
renovated within the last 5 years at least.
- The whole hotel is kept in great shape, no weeds whatsoever between the nice vegetation,
much green area's around the hotel. never saw litter no where or dirt or something.
- Use of sauna and turkish steambath is free and they're located around the indoor swimming
pool. (pretty fun for a cloudy/rainy day)
- You can take the dolmus (buss) to kusadasi just across the street from the hotel, it costs 1€
per person so don't overpay ! you can take bus 6 to the center and 6 or 7 back to the hotel.
Just tell / ask the driver where you need to get out. They run like every few minutes.
- The staff was VERY VERY friendly if you ask me, offcourse as a guest you shouldn't act
superior or expect them to lick your feet. But if (like me) you act friendly to them, nod politely,
thank them when they clean your table or bring your drinks, they threated me VERY friendly !
- Every day you get a free bottle of water
- You can get your free daily towel at pool-side. (very friendly staff)
- Nearly all drinks are free, cocktails included (offcourse don't expect the cocktails to be
quality of the ones you drink in your cocktail bars at home), the fantasia kiss is one of the
better ones but still abit too sweet for me. I did enjoy my daily ice-coffee.
- LOVED the breakfast, there's a stand outside where a guy bakes your eggs (just normal or
scrambled with any ingredient you want like cheese, ham, tomato etc) You can get thick
small pancakes there aswell with sirop mmmmm. The breakfast buffet includes croisants,
allot of different breads, hard boiled eggs, allot of cheeses and meats, etc etc (everything
you want nearly, i didn't miss a thing) I do have to mention, the "fresh fruitjuice" tastes like they
added a whole pack of suggar. (or even 3 whole packs of suggar)
- Lunch was allways good, buffet style upstairs and at the pool restaurant it's ehmm how to put it,
it's plain food but a la carte style :p, you sit at a table and order. They have hamburger,
cheeseburger, spagethi, fruitsalade, soup, pizza, chicken or fish salade and i'm sure i'm
forgetting a few)
- Dinner upstairs was good too, typical buffet style inside and outside there's allways another
part with different (often fried) things.
- The beach is nice and clean with a bar on it, i didn't use it tbh expect for walking over it
a few times.
- my girlfriend allways has troubles sleeping but the hotel has a "pillow menu" where you can
sellect between 6 or more different pillows (free of charge), my girlfriend asked for two options
and within 15mins they were in our room ! we were amazed by the service !

CON
- We were there from 04 may 2013 till 11 may 2013, we allready read that the a la carte
restaurants would be closed so we were prepared for that but unfortunately the evening
animation starts from beginning of june, we didn't know that so in the evenings your choises
are limmited. We spend our evenings in the bar (very nice and modern btw), playing pingpong,
or playing boardgames in the game room (or our room)
- Our airconditioning didn't realy work (room 326) but it wasn't a real problem since at night the
temperature went down and we just slept with the door open.
- I know turkey isn't "THE" place to be for snorkeling but i took my snorkeling glasses with me
anyway but all i found around the hotel were thousands and thousands of sea urchins.
- The staff at the reception weren't fluent in english, but most of the times they did understand
you. Not a big problem, just mentioning it.

REMARKS / TIPS
- Allot of very cute cats around the hotel, they seem well behaved and taken care off (not skinny
or hurt but well fed etc) we even saw a hedgehog one evening.
- The minibar ISN'T free ! and it's pretty expensive. It doesn't get refilled so if you want to drink
soda's or something else i suggest buying it in the stores in the hotel (located at level 1 when
pressing button in elevator) it's much cheaper there.
- There are stores in the hotel, they're "cheap" for us europeans but if you're planning to head to
kusadasi, there's thousaaaaaaands of stores like the ones in the hotel and the prices are
cheaper. (i suggest going to kusadasi btw, it's an experience on it's own) Old town in kusadasi
is the shopping center, the prices they ask, allways go 50 to 60% lower then the starting price.
No mather what they say or do. EVERYTHING there is a replica btw, in Turkey there is no
copywrite law so they can make replica's of anything for low prices. The quality often is nearly
as good as the ""real"" ones we have here. I bought a breitling watch there a few years back
and it still works and looks perfect.
- Piggeon island in kusadasi is a nice place to walk + the shore (harbour)
- Restaurant Dekem K is pretty good in Kusadasi, we ate there twice for lunch.
- There is a place called "de lekkerbek" around the harbour that i pretty good too. We ate
a fruitsalade and pancake there.
- The elevator is weird ! it took me 3 days before i understood it :p L1 = ground floor / lobby /
restaurant, 1 = basement / spa / connection to pool area, 2 = Bar / shops, other floors is all
rooms.
- Our room had a side ocean view like most rooms, but it didn't bother me cause i'm don't go
on holliday to sit in my room, i'm there in the morning and when in go to sleep.

EXCURSIONS
- we did a whole day excursion to Pamukale + spa and it was great. Pamukale is allmost like a
snowlandscape and it's mindblowing. This is the only place in the whole wide world you can find
this. It's protected by the Unesco as world herretage and it's a nature wonder of the world. It's a
2h drive but allot to be seen on the drive and if you have a good guide (we went with DIANA
travel with guide Memeth who is REALY REALY good, funny and charismatic) After Pamukale
we went to a hotel where we ate normal buffet food and could use the "spa" (baths) at the hotel
they were sort of swimming pools with mudd in them, water was from the same spring as
pamukale so it's healthy / healing etc. (this was one of the best excursions we did)
- We did a half day trip to Efese, my girlfriend found it interesting but half a day was enough for
her, i'm very interested in history (architectural) so i could have walked around there longer. If
you take half a day trip you'll see everything but the explenation will be brief. If you would love
to see / inspect every building and read the signs and hear more detailed information i
suggest doing the whole day trip. Afterwards we stopped at a leather store/fabric where we first
attended a "fashion show" that was entertaining and afterwards walked quickly through the
store. This is a fun trip if you're interested in history if not it's just old stone crashed buildings
from roman / greek area.
- Last we did the half day Sirince excursion but we first went to a jewelery (we didn't know about
that) We had to walk around there for over AN HOUR (long since it's only half a day trip and the
trip to Sirince was over and hour and back aswell) Sirince itself is a small village on a hillside
with lots of vegetation. It has about 30 shops like kusadasi allmost and restaurants and bars.
we liked tasting a few wines in the bars and bought a bottle. But i don't reccomend doing this
excursion with an agency, i believe you can take the dolmus there and see it yourself.

Room Tip: rooms on 3th floor are located at the green roof but you won't see the sea well and well, if you...

We stayed at Fantasia for one week. I'm just gonna list the pros and cons here:

Pros:
- Very stylish
- Clean rooms, some had a really good view, the others ... not so much.
- The main restaurant was great, it had 4 free bars and three free (but they needed reservation) restaurants which were stylish but not so good.
- It had three different pools, a well equipped gym, an expensive spa and Turkish bath
- They had an entertainment program each night which was of course free

Cons:
- Although it was on the beach-side, the sea wasn't clean enough to swim in
- The air conditioning was sooooo baddd for such hotel!
- We had internet access only and only in the lobby
- The staff did not know English at all! We were only able to speak to the hotel manager herself
- The staff were not friendly either

All in all, I do not recommend this hotel very much. You expect a lot more for a hotel of this class. I just think if they had a better management, it would have been really great.

Room Tip: Pay attention to the view of the room. They differ a lot!

1. The Public – almost entirely North, North-West of Europe, some of them are coming obviously quite often.
2. The rooms are in perfect condition and the cleaning service performed by the room maid is one of the best I have noticed in Turkey, where the hygiene standards are of the highest possible level.
3. Towel Service – perfect
4. The Hotel Restaurant Cuisine is something that should be thoroughly reviewed. Nevertheless some lack of presentation and eye-catching decorations, the taste is mostly according to the genuine traditional Turkish Aegean culinary culture. The exceptional eggplant-related dishes, the Greek Mussaka, the spinach stew and the combination with roasted lamb’s, meets very successfully the gastronomy of the East with the taste of the Mediterranean. As regards the desserts the baklava and the local éclairs should not be missed, as well as also the extremely tasty strudel, which in my opinion is slightly better than its original in Vienna.
Generally the cooking experience and skills of the chef are much better than I have expected and I do think I would fail making most of the dishes offered.
A tiny little note: a typical salty fiber-structure Turkish cheese is missing the daily variety of cheese mixes offered. A have to admit some of your visitors are extremely choosy.
5. Restaurant and Bar Service. The Turkish people are generally very friendly. Together with the combination of highly skilled young boys and girls the result is perfect service in the restaurant and bars. They do remember your preferences and do respond very quickly. The butterfly necktie of the barman is fabulous, I do adore being serviced like this.
6. The professional piano performance during the dinner hours is something that should be emphasized. It gives proper feeling of joy and relaxation and considering the fact the lady who is playing the piano is doing it too good, the dining experience is unforgettable for me. The soloist is playing is if she has been performing in a European concert hall.
7. Animation. Unostentatious, the show with Toreador e Muerto was remarkable as well as morning stretching gymnastics.
8. Quite often early in the morning there are charming ducks swimming in the sea, later I have noticed they are coming from the nearby small river, anyway I did think they are a fresh/river water birds not a sea ones, probably I am wrong.

Generally, very well operated premier Kusadasi hotel, it is worth visiting it for at least 2 weeks, it would be better if you could afford a month, no crowds, even off the season it was full, good quality of drinks.

STAFF: There were a few complications at the reception (wrong room, wrong key, repeatedly), but the subsequent service from the staff was outstanding and very friendly. Pleasant and very attentive.
ROOMS: Quiet and very clean, with totally comfortable twin beds large enough for tall people. Good pillows and covers. Negatives: smallish bathroom. I was disappointed not to have a sea view.
FOOD: Gorgeous! Very fresh produce and excellent preparation, both warm and cold. Plentiful lettuces, olives, fresh herbs, vegetables, fruits... If you want to eat healthily yet enjoy great variation, this is one place that offers it. Loved the stuffed fennel, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, wonderfully grilled fish, chicken, etc ... Lovely. Great breakfasts, great lunches, great dinners. Can't understand the bad reviews by other people. Negatives: the desserts. Lavish display, but generally not so refined, but then I'm used to outstanding Belgian pattisserie--difficult to compete with that. On the positive again: live piano music during dinner!
POOL AREA: very nice and relaxed.
LOCATION: not so good--along a very busy road--but the hotel is set back amidst pretty gardens so noise from the traffic isn't an issue. The drawback is that you can't really go for a walk: there is no real beach to speak of and a coastal walk won't take you very far as security police won't let you cross other hotels' beach areas. The idea is that you stay in the hotel resort itself because the surrounding area is not very attractive. The view however from the eating terraces is very attractive with palm trees and flowers and a view of the mountains.
SPA: was ok, good Turkish bath & foam scrub but the hammam didn't enchant me. There is a sauna & it's very hot.
WIFI: negative. Wifi is not free and quite expensive too at 3 euro/hour.
All in all, if you're into the "all-in hotel-de-luxe" experience, this one is excellent for sleep quality and food. Relax!

Location, good as is close to the city center but there is not beach , you have to use stairs to get in the sea , bring shoes for swim as is full of sea urchin.
Rooms, clean and pretty , but not ventilation and air conditioning , do not touch the mini bar or bottle of water as you have to pay for all apart .
Food, amazing presentation but lack of variety sometimes ,if you like coli flower, aubergines, chopped fish in all the ways then is not problem. But I went to Turkey many times to 5 stars hotels in Antalya and defenetly can tell what 5 stars food means. All a la cart restaurants closed.
Beach bar closed so you have to go 3 floors up to get drinks as the swimming pool bar is open
Management , Never around , only one lady as guest relation who could not explain me when they will open a la cart rest and air conditioning services in the rooms , she had to ask the cleaner how to say summer in English . (Temperature inside room 38-40)
Staff , never aware when to top up drinks during food time, mostly they dont speak English, dirty tables , glasses in the reception sitting for ages. ( I ordered coke and I got first What! as an answer and for drink pineapple juice!).
Animation, despite the guys from the animation team do the best to make people happy , I can tell that is management responsibility as they look lack of budget , low cost shows , mister fantasia , mummy, fakir(good), and bingo!!!.
Really bad disco with not atmosphere and balada bar not even alive music, if you like nuts having a drink you have to pay extra.
No internet unless you pay 35 euros a week and 12 euros per day.
5 stars decoration with 3 stars service. Recommended for people who want to do they own service.

We stayed April 2013 for a week. Aware that we were slightly out of season things were quiet. But we liked it this way ! The rooms are lovely, cleaned to perfection every day by the maid, even if you are in at the time she will come back later in the day. You get a complimentary bottle of water every day , which is good. The pool area was nice , large although one pool was closed at our visiting time but as it wasn't busy it suited us fine. There were plenty of wasps around the pool area. It couldn't be helped but I got stung! There is a lady who cooks Turkish pies during the day. They were ok. Alex who arranges the trips out is great. He took us on a boat trip. First one of the year , and we broke down at sea. Oops. All was good though he kept us happy giving free beer and it was nice to be sitting in the sun until a rescue boat came to tow us to safety ! We also went to Ephesus with him, well recommended but they you to a silly jewellery store which is not what you want prices ranging up to 50,000. No nobody wants to buy that. The food at the hotel was nice. I enjoyed the freshly cooked pizza ! The dogs outside the hotel are very friendly. Jusy dont stroke them as they follow you into the road and nearly get run over. Overall the hotel is lovely ! Would highly recommend :)

Reviewed April 28, 2013

Arriving late on the 30th March we were fully aware we came to this holiday out of season and it wouldn't be as fully functional as it would be in the summer. However, come 1st April; night and pool side entertainment began, an excellent restaurant by the pool opened and the holiday became much better.

We were firstly worried about the weather - it rained a couple of the mornings and it got dark about 19:00 however, temperatures peaked at 33 degrees and the lowest that occurred was 15/16 degrees. We were very pleased overall and still managed sunburn/tan.

For the first couple of days where there wasn't much to do, me and my friend (aged 16) were worried we were going to become bored. Parents asked at the front desk what there was to do and within half an hour we had a meeting with Regi and Jack - our holiday reps. We were shown many activities available, we booked a jeep safari, a trip to Ephesus, a day trip to Samos (a Greek Island) and Turkish Baths. All were excellent except there wasn't much to do at all at Samos. Jack even personally escorted me and my friend around town and came shopping with us to ease my parents' minds that we were safe - free of charge! Highly recommend Regi and Jack along with Murphys bar who offer free excursions when you eat with them!

A popular complaint of the hotel around April time is the air conditioning. It is operational but isn't cool air; as its still cold for Turkish people and the majority of their guests are either Turkish or people from surrounding areas in this sort of time. I still managed to sleep at night with a cover and the French doors shut! Cleaning staff were excellent along with the hotel's overall cleanliness. Another complaint is the hotels location, town is only a 5 minute drive away and there is a shop just next to the hotel. Food was self service buffet in the main restaurant and became repetitive but was always hot and very tasty.

Staff were amazing at the hotel, they were very friendly and all spoke enough English to help you out. They really couldn't do enough for you and the animation team ensured fun poolside and night time entertainment. Although managers seemed grumpy, general staff were excellent.

The last thing I'd like to mention is the local Call to Prayers. They operate 5 times a day and times vary 1 is usually 5/6 in the morning in April time. They consist of a song being broadcasted from each mosque to the town. You become used to this quickly but I wished I'd been prepared for this as nobody else has mentioned them. Excellent staff, location and hotel will be returning next year :)

Room Tip: Go for 1st, 6th or 7th floor - these are the quietest rooms.
