Beautiful hotel with scenic views. The staff are very friendly and very kind. Excellent location as its just on the marina and is a 15 minute walk to the town centre. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. There was an entertainment night which ranged from a BBQ evening to different forms of entertainment like belly dancers and kareoke. I've been going here for the past 5 years and will definately be returning in the future.

We have just recently returned from a two week stay at the rina hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 5.30am and the reception staff were really quick so you could get to your room .We were a little disappointed with our room as it faced the back of the hotel and looked like a war zone.We could also here the night club most nights which did keep me awake. However we did speak to louis our rep and he did get us moved to a pool veiw for the second week of our holiday. The rina hotel is placed really close to the town and has a peaceful view of the harbour. The food at the hotel was very good both down stairs and in the al a carte restaurant upstairs ( best time to eat upstairs is definately 8pm you get to see the sun set ).We also went into the selma restaurant next door which does really good fish and chips. The slip inn is also good value for money and you can watch most football matches there. We also ate at the victoria which was also a really nice meal, and the mayflower which again is a brill place to eat.Overall our experience was great ,we made really good friends while we were there and we are already planning our return trip!!!

Room Tip: get an even number

The location of the apartments is excellent a lovely 10-15 minutes walk along the seafront to the centre especially at sunset. The number 1 and 6 dolmus run from outside the hotel which will take you to the town centre and Adaland (can't remember which is which). The is a taxi stand next to the hotel which we didn't use as we were able get everywhere by dolmus. The building work across from the apartments has stopped and they have a colourful awning in front of it so it doesn't look bad.

The apartments themselves - on check in request a room with a pool view (they have an even number) otherwise you will have a view over waste land. We had room 102 which was right next to the bar area. Our view was most obstructed by foliage, however this kept the room cool and the balcony private. Higher rooms have a view of the Port and you can see the cruise ships. Also at check in you will be asked for a £20 breakage deposit and it is £10 for the safe - which I thought was reasonable. We paid up front for the air con as we knew it would be uncomfortable at night. Total price for 14 nights was £97. I have seen a lot of people complain about the price on Trip Advisor but to be quite honest for what we paid for the holiday, £1350 for three of us, I didn't mind the extra charge and it made getting a good nights sleep a lot easier. Just to add the air conditioning will not work unless the balcony door is closed.

The rooms are basic but roomy. Self catering facilities are as described - a 2 ring electric 'hob', fridge, kettle and coffee maker - with adequate cookware/crockery etc apart from the glasses which were tiny, we ended buying some cheap tumblers from Migros which is across the road to the right of the hotel. You certainly couldn't make a three course meal but suitable for snacks although the only thing we had was cereal in a morning but we did use the coffee maker. Little Puddle described the bed settee as 'like sleeping on a brick' however that didn't stop him from falling asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

We had a double bed which I would describe as more 'king size', it was very comfortable with what felt like a reasonably new mattress and was changed every couple of days. The wardrobe was reasonable size but didn't have many hangers (8). I requested extra on two occasions but am still waiting, so you may want to pack a few in your luggage.

The bathroom was reasonably large but had a step up from the basin area to the bath/toilet so we found it safer to leave the bathroom light on during the night. This was the area that I felt really let the accommodation down and was seriously in need of a complete renovation. The towel rail above the bath was loose, the shower screen was only attached at the top and the bath was badly stained. However it was kept clean by the maid. The hairdryer was also in the bathroom beside the basin. I did not use it so cannot comment on what it was like, however as the floor around the basin area would sometimes get wet I wouldn't of felt safe using it so I would advise to taking a travel dryer.

Overall the rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, however we did feel that the furnishings were rather tired and the rooms could do with being completely renovated. Maintenance checks obviously didn't get carried out and when repairs were done they were shoddy. On the second day of our stay the bi-fold wardrobe door fell off it's hinges. On examination this had obviously happened before. Informed reception as the door was very heavy and obviously unsafe. The following day the door had still not been repaired and it took a second visit to reception before a repair was carried out.

As a suggestion - your room key has a fob which has to be inserted into a slot inside the room so that the power works. The fob has the hotel name and room number on, so in other words if you lost your key whilst out anyone could get access to your room. We changed the fob for a keyring of our own and left the hotel fob in the room.

The pool area is very pretty and the pool is large and clean. Sunbeds during our stay were in short supply. Even though the hotel displays notices about not reserving sunbeds this was ignored and towels were placed on beds sometimes by guests returning to the hotel in the early hours of the morning. Some people even got friendly with the life guard and got him to keep beds for them!

Prices at the hotel bar were good - 4 lira for a pint of efes, 5 lira for a fresh orange juice and 1 lira for a small bottle of water. I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in the hotel but saw plenty of other people doing so and again prices seemed reasonable.

Good places to eat next to the hotel at Selam to the left and The Slipp Inn to the right. Other restaurants we enjoyed were were Erzincan and Green Garden and Dedum K in the Kaleci (old town), The Fishermans Cafe in the Port, Kiwi Cafe at Ladies Beach. Restaurants to avoid are Saray in Kaleci and the Butchers Shop in the Port (see my restaraunt reviews for more details.

Finally I would rate it a 2-3 star and as I said at the beginning the location is lovely.

An excellent 2 wks stay at Rina apartments. The staff were adorable, friendly and very helpful, especially the reception staff. The apartment was spacious and cleaned daily, towel change every 2 days. The beds were very comfortable. Safe deposit box 5 euro a week. A bottle of wine at the restaurant 15 tl around a fiver a bottle 4tl just over £1 for a large bottle of Effes lager. The rate of exchange 2.75 tl to our £1. It is advisable to exchange currency for a better rate in town rather than the hotel reception. The food in the restaurant was very good value for money and delicious. There was entertainment at night which ranged from a BBQ evening with varied entertainment i,e Belly dancer, puppet show, brakedancing, group dancers and KungFu.Karoke and bingo another evening, kids disco etc etc. The staff all attentive but not in your face all of the time. A 10 min walk to the centre which boasts a large market on a Wed and fruit market on Fri. Catch the number 6 dolmus to Longbeach for 2.75tl these buses run outside the apts every few mins. 2 beach beds and an umbrella were 10tl around £3 which were a lot cheaper than any euro beach tariff. All in all an excellent stay and we will be back again without hesitation.
