“Fantastic friendly,family fun hotel.”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

I have just come back from a two week holiday at Tuntas Hotel. It was a very clean hotel with good size rooms, excellent shower and all your basic essentials (hair dryer included). All the staff were incredibly friendly and really made our holiday extra special. My children enjoyed all the entertainment that was put on by Jack and Ozzy and know that they will be the main things they remember about their holiday! The pool was clean and a good size for the hotel. Overall the hotel was not too big so it felt personal and that you could get to know the people and staff well if you wanted to. Near by to Ladies beach with local buses running every five minutes to take you into the main town. Everyone moans about the hill but I thought it just helped to walk off those extra few pounds that were building up from all the holiday excess!

stayed in July from 11th to 26th, People should stop moaning about the food and noise of the bar most people I spoke to that had eaten here had said the food was good I found this to be true after eating in the restaurant myself , as for the noise from the bar at night there was none due to the bar been closed at 12,30/01.00 ( ur on holiday u should expect noise from a bar in a hotel ) I suspect the people that complained most where Scandinavians as it seemed to me all they did was sunbathe and sleep , the hill is a pain in the backside but hey hoe it will keep u fit , we met some really nice people there , jack ozzy ali and eddy where really good and had loadsa time for people , we met the yarwoods( look at her review) and I have to agree with everything she has said , my only complaint would be the BBQ night is not actually a BBQ and at 38 lira a person is a bit steep , Jack and Ozzy work long hours and try there best to keep everyone happy and entertained ( even the Scandinavian's ) they need a pay rise

Room Tip: higher floors at the rear have better views

stayed from 13th to 27th July 2013: Nice hotel, self catering facilities were basic, but we had no intention of cooking in, and hotel restaurant served good food. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, willing to help with anything. Rooms cleaned daily. Some people said the bar area was bouncing to all hours, we didn't find that, in fact it was shut by 1am due to lack of patrons in the bar area, this may be due to the clientele in the hotel when we stopped. It was half way up a steep hill, so if you struggle or have difficulty walking this may not be for you, but a hotel taxi was stationed outside the entrance (local rate chargeable). There were steps up the hill, which did make it easier. This hotel is not generally advertised in england, just Ireland and mainly Scandanavia (40 of 70 rooms) which we believe to be changing. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Tuntas and will be interested to go back in a few years to see what it is like.

This was our first time in Kusadasi, although we have been to Turkey many times. The hotel is located in Ladies Beach area, which is a five minute Dolmus journey from the the centre of Kusadasi. As other reviewers have mentioned the hotel is at the top of a very steep hill - those with walking difficulties will find it a struggle.

We had specifically requested a high floor and sea view. I had also rung the hotel to ensure that they had received this request. They said they had received this request via the holiday company (COSMOS), and the manager would be allocating the rooms.

We were surprised and more than a little disappointed to be allocated a floor on Level 2. You see, the reception is actually on Level 3, and you go down to Level 2 and Level 1. Our first room (203) had very little of a sea view as a nearby hotel completely blocked the view. We asked for a change of room (bearing in mind we had requested a high floor when we booked several months ago) and all they could give us was room 206 on the same level. That said, the nearby hotel was not blocking all the view of the sea. I can imagine that the views from higher floors would be really good. Ours wasn't too bad. We spoke with some of those on Level 1 and they did not have a sea view - although they were sea facing.

May be that it was just that time of year, but all the occupants of Level 1 and Level 2 (with the poorer sea view) were Brits. However, most of the occupants were from other countries, via a range of Euro based travel companies. We were told by the manager that one European Travel Agency has 40 rooms permanently booked throughout summer. No surprise, I guess, that the sea views are taken by the bigger agencies. Not complaining - but a word of warning - if you are hoping for a sea view - do your best to get at least on Level 3!!

The pool view rooms have no sea view at all.

The other issue with Level 2, is that it is directly below the area where breakfast and evening meals are served. From about 7.30 in the morning the staff are arranging the tables and you can hear all the noise as a result. Not a problem for us as we were awake. The trade off is that you get very little noise at all in the evening from people above you. People tend to eat by the pool at night. Only on the BBQ night does it get very noisy from that area. We were there for two weeks, so after the first Monday night BBQ, we stayed out and cam home late. It all finishes with a Karaoke about 12.30am.

The rooms are very clean, but a bit "tired" and dated. The TV reception is non existant really. Not a problem for us as we never used it. The bath room was very dated and we had a very bad smell coming from it a couple of times a day. We found out that the main utilities came down at the side our our aparment - guess that was the reason. Was weird as it only happened a couple of times a day. Every time we thought about mentioning it, the smell then went away.

Every day, a cleaning lady asked if we wanted our room cleaning - so full marks there!! No issues with towel change and linen change - it was done every time we asked.

If you are on a budget - please be aware that the air conditioning is six Euros a day. There is only one unit in the main area, not in the bedroom. So you need to leave the bedroom door open and it does bring the temperature down after a while in the bedroom as well. We had the air con as if you leave the doors open it does cool down, but there are quite a few mosquitoes flying around and we go bit on the first night. So we paid for the air con and kept the windows closed. We thought the safety deposit box cost were a bit high at 3 Euros a day. That is double what we normally pay in Turkey.

The pool area was a real surprise - in a pleasant way. Only a handful of those really annoying holidaymakers put their towels out early and then didn't use them for most of the day. The majority of the rest of us just turned up and used the beds when they wanted to. This meant there was plenty of room round the pool. Be careful near the steps into the pool, the tiles are very sharp and slippy.

We did not eat at the hotel, but lots of people did.

We ate in quite a few different places along the main strip of Ladies Beach. The best one was the Palm Beach (this is one of the first on the right once you have walked to the seafront. High quality food, and great mezze. Also good were Kiwi, Sergeants, Sunda Beach (great Chicken Doner there), Brothers, Sea Breeze and Halikarnas (Sinbad is the welcome person at Halikarnas and is really nice). The only one we would warn against was SHERWOOD. The food was late and it did not match the description of the meal. Very poor altogether - would advise you to avoid it.

There is a MIGRO's supermarket close by - walking distance - but the taxi will take you for 12 lira. There is also a SOK supermarket at the other end of the beach. SOK is a bit further to walk but cheaper.

Make sure you try the BOGAT - which is like a Turkish Sausage roll. They are meat or potato or cheese. They are only 1.5 lira and are lovely.

We went into Kusadasi. It is massive!!! If you want real turkish delight - go to KERVAN which is up a side street near to McDonalds (yes you can have a Big Mac if you feel the need). KERVAN is excellent value. Does great spices and ground coffee too. Much better value than anywhere else - and believe me we looked - we have been to Turkey a lot and there is a big difference in the proper Turkish Delight. If you buy the boxes that are five boxes for 6 Euro's, you are buying the box, and a small packet of sweets inside. You could buy a kilo of Turkish Delight at KERVAN for 12 lira. Excellent value.

Fantastic traditional kebabs can be eaten in or taken away near to the sea front at Kusadasi. Cannot remember the name of the take away but it had a purple signage. Chicken Shish wrap for £1.50!!!! Try it - all the turkish visitors were eating there - I based it on the fact that they should know a good takeaway. And it was great. There are two - opposite each other. Try it - real turkish food.

So, enjoy Kusadasi - it is massive.

If you want holiday trips and you are at Tuntas, we used SunWind Travel which is along on Ladies Beach. Had a boat trip, a visit to Ephesus (which is a must as it is only 20 minutes away) and a horse trip. Very good value for money. The pick up was on time and the coach was good. If you visit Ephesus, it is packed in July - and it diminishes the experience. Also, the trip does rush you round a bit. If I return, I will hire a taxi and do it myself. It is only 15 lira to get into Ephesus, and 70 lira (one way) in the taxi. It is more expensive than doing a trip - but you would be able to take you time.

So, all in all, a good holiday. Would we return to the Tuntas - only if you could confirm your room. Would not want to be on Level 1 or 2 again.

Room Tip: Sea view needs to be on Level 3 at least. You will be disappointed if you get Level 2 or Level 1.

We stayed in tuntas apartments, 3 families for two weeks. The apartments are very basic but clean. The pool area is very well kept. The staff are unbelievable and so friendly. You are close to ladies beach but you will have to conquer cardiac hill on the way back but this would not worry me. I would certainly recommend these apartments for families as it is very family friendly. The entertainers Jack and Ozzie are brilliant with the kids and also the waitress in the restaurant is really nice. My only complaint was the smell that was in our room sometimes it was foul but I think it was because we were on the lower level. I would def return but ask for apartment on higher level.
