“Very friendly hotel”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

Stayed at the Derici last year and loved it so much we booked again for this year. Just arrived back yesterday and it was a fantastic holiday. We were lucky enough to have a room on the
5th floor overlooking the sea. It was fantastic to sit on the balcony and just watch the cruise ships arriving. The hotel itself is in a fabulous position just a few minutes walk to the restaurants, shops and the market. Yes, the hotel could do with a bit of an update but it is very clean and the staff are lovely nothing is too much bother for them. We were bed and breakfast and the breakfast is fine. Bread, cheese, ham, cereals etc.
Would recommend Pams restaurant - turn left from the hotel and its second opening on the left.
Would also recommend The Golden Oldies turn left and follow the road to the jewellers on the corner and turn left. Food in general in all the restaurants we visited was excellent and very reasonably priced.
So many guests return to the Derici every year we spoke to couples who have been going for 10 - 20 years. We will be back next year just love it.

Room Tip: Try and get a front facing room - the views are amazing

Had a fairly good stay at the hotel from 27 Aug until 8 Sept myself & 20 year old son. Having read other reviews was hoping the hotel would be OK & suit our needs.
We were really pleased with our room which was at the front of the hotel was a great view overlooking the harbour & the sea. It was fantastic to get up each morning to see which cruise ships had arrived in Port over night.
The breakfast was better than we have experienced at other hotels and was worth getting up for.
As the local beach is not too good we stayed by the pool on the roof most days. Although there was a rush to grab sunbeds when it opened at 9am there was never any problem getting a sunbeds later on in the day. I was nice to be able to order food up on the roof terrace but could never understand why the bar shut at 12 for the girl to go to lunch - surely they should have provided cover at this busy time.
The room was a little shabby but was impressed by the cleaning with fresh sheets & towels daily. Although free air con was a bonus & a must as the weather very in the high 30's when we were there. Also once the balcony doors were closed the only noises we ever heard were from other "unthoughtful" guests stomping about late at night!!
The restaurant & bar at the front of the hotel was good value & enjoyed a couple of meals there in the evenings.
My only real gripe was having to pay £20 to keep the room until 4pm which I did feel was a little excessive but as my son was poorly I needed to do this.
On the whole a good standard 3* hotel with a great position in Kusadasi with shops, the market & restaurants within walking distance from right outside the front of the hotel.

Room Tip: You need a room at the front which run from floor number then 10 till 15 - we were in room 314.

My husband and I stayed at The Derici from 7th September until 21st September and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We went there with two friends who had already stayed there on six previous occasions. We met several other people who also regularly stayed there and intended to return. The hotel is spotless. The breakfast was buffet style with fresh melon, yogurt, cheeses, eggs and german sausages, bread, pastries, cereal tea and coffee. Towels are not provided for the swimming pool area so take your own or buy some in the bazaar. Slippers were provided in the room which was a nice touch. Our room was on the side of the hotel but we still had a good sea view from our balcony. I don't think some of the lower rooms have balconies but I am not absolutely sure about that so check before booking..
The staff were always polite and friendly and helpful with any querries. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is over the road from the promenade and a few minutes walk from the shops the bazaar and some great restaurants. At night many of the local families walk or sit along the seafront and there are some cafes in which to sit and watch the world go by. The bazaars sell anything and everything especially beautiful tablecloths. If you want some good quality jewellery go to the proper jewellery shops where guarantees are provided. We tried Narsis jewellers in the grand bazaar and were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the gems. There are lots of jewellers though, so plenty of choice. I would rrecommend The Derici as excellent value for money and we will choose it again if we stay in Kusadasi.

Just back from 2 weeks staying at the derici hotel with my girlfriend. Lots of positives on this hotel and very few negatives. When we arrived at 6am we were shown to our room, it wasnt good because looked into other rooms and no balcony. We requested to be moved when we woke around half 11, which was fine for the helpful reception staff. New room had a sea view that was are amazing. Decor in the rooms is out of date but mini bar is reasonable prices and the bathroom was nice. Free air con was a bonus :) Safe cost 2lira per day which wasnt much. Cleaners done an excellent job with fresh towels and sheets daily. Pool area was nice with pool bar that had good food. Pool was clean and good size. Table tennis and pool also available (free). Breakfast had a variety and had no complaints. Ate 1 night at hotel, was cheap at 16lira for all you could eat. This hotel is in an excellent location (5min walk into town centre and cruise ships at the harbour opposite hotel)

Would defo recommend the derici hotel!!

Room Tip: Be nice and ask for sea view

We had a front sea view in this hotel and everything was perfect. The front of house service, the breakfast, the food, the prices, the location, the rooms.... Need I go on. The only very slight quibble is the size of the pool, it is on the small size, BUT!!! The location is on the roof and the views are amazing. Apparently the rooms on the back of the hotel don't have much of a view but get a sea view and you will love this place. The location is right on the outskirts of the town centre and on a main dolmus route to the centrum and other places.

Room Tip: Just ask and you will get, maybe?

Firstly, to get them out of they way are the bad bits:

Tiny swimming pools
Expensive health centre (look in resort for cheaper prices (e.g. turkish bath))
Breakfast was good not great
Not many british in hotel (but the non british/irish were not rude and kept themselves to themselves)
Courtesy room at the end of your break isn't great as there are no towels supplied and is very small and a bit dark

Now its time for the best bits (there are a few)

Reception staff were helpful
The cleaning staff were outstanding (me and my other half were very impressed, as every day we had new towels, new bedding and lovely fresh smelling rooms - perfect)
The views (if you are on the front, if you're not they a not bad but they aren't brilliant)
Air conditioning was included in price
Safety deposit box was reasonably priced at 28 Turkish Lira for 14 nights
Massage chair in lobby is a laugh must have a go for 1 Turkish Lira
General hotel appearance and communal areas were clean and comfortable to be in (e.g. Lobby)
Location of hotel was a prime spot for everythung and within walking distance to wherever you want to go that day including bus stops.

Local knowledge (have been going there for more than 20 years):

Places to eat include:
Family steak house (off a side row with planet yucca on the corner - go past green garden) - very cheap, fabulous deals, food was awesome, and a personsal rappor with the waitors. Great night out.
Pams efes bar. Fabulous man and service 100%. Small and friendly. Just past the taxi office on your left hand side as leaving hotel.
New world restaurant. Fab service and fab fish and chips at a fab 15 lira (+ drink and fruit). After taking a left out of hotel, keep walking until the first roundabout (down the shopping street with many shoe shops (IGNORE small roundabout near hotel)) turn left at jewellry shop on corner, walk past medical centre and keep on that road for 100-150 metres. Its on your left hand side.
Boat trip is a must
Turkish bath is a must (one near mosque is the best one) NOT one near bar steet
Ldies bea h is nearby for a day at beach
Adaland aquapark is great
Sirince is great place to visit (turkish villiage - ask waitor in pams for cheap travel)
Ephesus is a must - if you would like a longer time to look round go on the bus as tour compinies can rush you about a bit but it is a full day out with them. Umbreella needed due to heat and sun strength).

Turkish Lira is the better currency to take - more for your money
Drink LOADS of water
Dont hesitate to haggle
Go off the beaten track - its cheaper and you see more
Have your wits about you
Don't drive!

Enjoy your time at this hotel, this resort and hopefully it will be you in 20 years writing this!

I booked last minute and stayed at the Derici for a week B&B with my teenage daughter. I was relieved to find the hotel lived up to its 4-star rating. Very pleasant and helpful staff, clean rooms (if a little old fashioned) and public areas, FREE wi-fi and air con! TV was Turkish with the exception of BBC World News. Roof top pool was small but perfectly formed but you had to get there at 9am to bag a sun bed and brolly. The roof offered great views of the sea front and harbour with stunning sunsets. Just a 5 minute walk into the bustle of the shopping/entertainment centre of Kusadasi but far enough away to get a good night's sleep. Breakfast was not spectacular but perfectly adequate. No evidence of Gestapo style staff reported in other hotels. We took water and snacks back to our room without problem. If you ate or drank in the Derici bar you got 10% discount for being a resident. I would recommend this hotel and certainly go back!

Room Tip: We were in a back room which, on reflection, offered a more peaceful sleep but front rooms had a bet...
