Sadly, this was not all it promised - the view was spectacular, but the rest rest of the hotel is pretty shabby and worn and not really worthy of its rating. There were two staff members who did rather save this from a one star review - both very friendly and helpful - but sadly, it was simply not enough to detract from the decrepit rooms and rather long-suffering attitudes of the rest of the staff. Look for somewhere else in this sweet little city.

We took an excursion to Ephesus and Pammukale from Istanbul and asked for a 4 star hotel which we were promised by the tour operator. We were shown pictures of the view from the hotel which looked spectacular. However, it was a totally different picture when we arrived there. The room was awful, sheets old, hardly anything to call a decor and did not smell fresh at all. The reception was cold, and so were the receptionist! The view from the room was okay, but nothing too great. We had opted for a buffet dinner and the food was okay, but nothing great. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone, atleast not if they are looking for a 4 star!!

Room Tip: Dont go to this hotel, not if you are looking for a decent stay.

Had very uncomfortable bed in a so-so clean room. Staff does nothing to stop loud and boisterous party of hotel guests at 2:00 in the morning. Breakfast is only mediocre. Walk to the hotel is challenging but doable. There are some pleasant restaurants nearby.

Be warned this hotel sits on top of a very steep slope. This means 2 things - 1. an excellent view if you get a sea-facing room; and 2. a bloody exhausting uphill walk after dinner (we're in our mid-30's and in reasonable shape, and the walks invariably left us a little winded.)

It sits on the coast closer to the marina, and thus well away from the touristy part of town. During peak travel season, you would be well insulated from the tourist hoards disgorged by the cruise liners. Which is great if one is looking for a nice quiet retreat, less great if one is souvenir-hunting. Good eateries within a 10-15 minute walk.

As other reviewers have pointed out, do not expect great service. Keep one's expectations nice and low, and you just might like it here. We did.

Room Tip: Must ask for a sea-facing room, otherwise the steep uphill walk wouldn't be worth it. We stayed...

Staff did not make an effort to be friendly - not upon my arrival, not during meals, no offer to help with my luggage (even though there was available staff), no one cared to enquire if i was enjoying a meal or my stay. The gentleman who checked me in tried to foist a smoking room, 101, on me. He actually made an attempt at arguing that it was a non-smoking unit!
Based on my stay here, this property set a low bar for hospitality. I'm glad I was there for only two nights and could not wait to depart.

We stayed here for bed & breakfast before going to stay for a holiday in an apartment close by. The hotel is well run but the rooms have become dated. It is very clean and the staff are all very nice. If you are getting on and not a great fan of hills this is not the place for you otherwise it is a lovely hotel with a view to die for. We had rented a car so the hill was not a problem ! Buffett breakfast was just OK as there were not too many staying there was not a great selection of food as would be in the high season when we stayed before. All in all we found this value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Marina and harbour so that you can watch the beautiful cruise ship...

The Grand Onder is a tourist class hotel up the hill from the Kusadasi waterfront, with balconies and beautiful views.

The rooms are snug but comfortable. The bathroom has a shower stall but no tub. The breakfast buffet is pleasant. The pool is attractive, but much too cold in the off season.

Of hundreds of hotels that I have stayed in worldwide, this is one of the few that I must give a “poor” to “unacceptable” rating. In February it was 10 C outside and 10 C inside our room.

There is only a small wall unit to heat the room, and that shuts off as soon as one leaves the room. The rooms are not heated prior to arrival, and it took most of the night to get our room up to 15 C. I almost slept in the lobby, which is heated.

I certainly would not stay there again in the off season, but in the high season it may well be an acceptable hotel.

Room Tip: Any room is ok if the weather is warm. They all have balconies with nice city and water views. Stay...
