“NOT AS GOOD AS REVIEWS”

I have just returned and I am sorry to say this place as much as the apartments are of a good standard I would not say luxury, my apartment had good kitchen equipment but the cleaning could have been of a higher standard, and there is no cleaning of your apartment at all in the whole time your there this has to be done by yourself.
There is little to do during the day for the older children, this was one of the reasons I chose this holiday destination, knowing it was out of the way but thinking due to all comments and website this would be fine. I think the only activity was when we asked for the net to go up across the pool which I think happened 3 times all week. So I do feel this is not a great place to take teenagers. The pool table looked like it had not been used in years and the Sunset bar has been left, so this looks a site. The gym needed updating especially the decor and some of the equipment was not working.
Around the pool in the day I must admit they did try to help with sun beds but there was just not enough parasols to go around when the sun was reaching over 40 and some people had the choice of sit in it or go inside this is not acceptable. Like myself I enjoy the sun but need to be in the shade when it gets really hot I did not pay to go aboard to sit inside. We counted on our last day 6 for the whole of the pool area. The one we had was broken, dirty and rusty and had to be held up by sticking paper into the tubing. My husband did speak to someone who told him that he agreed there was not enough to go round but due to the wind they had all been broken....well I'm sorry but that is your responsibility to go buy some more or rethink, it can get very windy at times but that is no excuse to just leave the pool area with not enough shade.
There was no transfer from apartment to town/beach as advertised at a rate of £10.00 pp you had to pay the resident Taxi driver up to 20 lira each way for a trip into town. Now I emailed to get the info and was told not to worry it would be sorted when I got there but this was the only information I was given on arrival to get about apart from the using the Dolmus.
Now my last problem with this place is the Market, it is something else...this is probably out biggest complaint as we were lead to believe that it would be well stocked enough to cater for ourselves this is not the case and if you needed a lot of supplies then that was another trip into town.
I would like to say I never ever complain but I feel that people need to know some truths about this place.
The restaurant food is good, bar could be a little cheaper but ok. Boat trip ok.
Evening entertainment was most of the time of a good standard the Fire show is very good.
I will not be returning and will not recommend to my friends I am sorry to say.

“Very enjoyable holiday at Whispering Sands”

After your initial "where the hell are we" thoughts, and you will have them, especially if you arrive at night. WS turns into a gem of a complex with friendly staff, good restaurant and cracking swimming pool. Add to this well maintained apartments and you have the ingredients for a great holiday.

Location- Situated on a hillside about 2 miles from the centre of Kusadasi, initial thoughts are that you are miles from anywhere, in reality you are about 6/7 Min's away in a taxi £6 approx e/w or 10 Min's in local bus ,about 75p e/w. The No1 bus stops at the end of the road and comes about every 15 Min's, walk another 2/3 Min's for the No6 on the main road, which comes every 5 Min's.
A NOTE OF CAUTION , Turks find it very hard to say whispering sands, so make sure they understand where you want to go, otherwise you will end up at the Ephesus Princess 30Min's in the other direction. Sounds nothing like WS I know, but believe me it does to them, and an hour long round trip in 38 deg is no fun lol.

Facilities- As mentioned earlier great pool which gets the sun from early morning to late into the evening, an on sight gym, kids club with decent facilities, Restaurant and bar to rival most in Kusadasi centre.
The apartment was clean and tidy, and having the on suite shower room helped greatly, especially with two teenagers in tow, as did having a washing machine to keep them in clean clothes.

Staff- All the staff are really friendly and try very hard to make your stay enjoyable, they all seem to enjoy working at WS and it shows in the way they interact with the holiday makers. PLEASE remember though they are there to make your stay enjoyable and not to be used as lackeys, one woman sitting on her tush asking one of the guys to move her parasol 2ft for her, so she could sit in the shade and another sending one guy to the bar to get the T shirt she had forgotten. Treat the staff the way you would like to be treated and you will have a great time.

Miscellaneous- If not eating at the Restaurant I recommend The Mayflower, Murphy's, Casablanca and somewhere quiet, The Green Garden These are all excellent restaurants and a meal for 4 with drinks costs around £40/45,
Izmir is only 1 hour 15 away on air conditioned coach and well worth a look, cheap as well at around £7 return.

The only downside is the lack of an information brochure at the resort, normally detailing transport links, area map, local sites and trips. However after a few days you will have your bearings and bean advised on every trip and site around by the various vendors in Kusadasi.

Finally- A good allround resort, family friendly and a great no smoking policy. Whatever your age or situation you should definitely try Kusadasi and Whispering Sands.
