This tour was amazing and our guide was unbelievably awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area, culture, and history. We asked for a Biblical tour and Tez delivered. He went above and beyond taking us to a cafe where locals dine and assisting us in ordering local fare. He added a surprise Turkish carpet making facility where we learned and witnessed from silk worms up how carpets are made. It was very interesting and enlightening. At Ephesus, we added the Terrace House tour for a slight fee and were very glad we did. We saw how the elite lived and saw ongoing excavations. The tour was a very spiritual experience and Tez fulfilled our expectations. We would use this company again.

In 2010 and in 2012 we visited Turkey. Our tour guides name was "Ozgur Karakus". We were so impressed by him that we had him guide us agin in 2012. Not only is he a really nice fellow he really knew his stuff when it came to Ephesus, Kusadasi, Istanbul, and many more places. He was not overbearing with the history but just enough to be informative and make you visualize these cities as they were and how the people lived. I would recommend "Ozgur" to all who want a reliable kind tour guide. Never did he rush us or suggest to us to visit a carpet factory...never. We had ample time to see all in Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's house. Contact "Ozgur" at ozgur.karakus.50@facebook.com or at frantic-go@hotmail.com

Our party of ten (five adults and five children) went on a 4-hour tour of Ephesus with Melike when we visited the city as part of a Celebrity Reflection cruise. My entire family thinks that Melike was without question the best tour guide that we had during our entire trip. Friendly, enthusiastic, punctual, organized, knowledgable and bright, Melike made our day in Ephesus outstanding. She speaks English very well and is able to communicate with people of all ages. Our children loved her and the adults adored her. She came prepared for the heat with several umbrellas and ice cold water bottles. I will go out of my way to recommend Melike and Ephesus Shuttle to all of our friends who are going to Ephesus.

After researching tour companies through Trip Advisor, we booked Ephesus Shuttle for two shore excursion tours during our Mediterranean cruise in June 2013: Istanbul and Kusadasi/Ephesus. This review is for Kusadasi/Ephesus only. The booking process was easy, and Suzan was very helpful in responding to questions and personalizing our trip. The price was fair, and the trip included the sites we (my husband and I) wanted to see at this port. Our guide was waiting as we exited our ship, and our tour began well. Our tour guide was very informative and very personable; he shared a lot of information with us about Turkey, Kusadasi, and our tour sites between our stops. His pride in his country and in the area was obvious. He gave us plenty of time to explore Mary's House and St. John's Basilica on our own. Our problem with the tour was that our tour guide rushed us through Ephesus where he walked with us except for a few moments at the library. Ephesus is a very large place, and I realize that no one can see everything there in just a few hours; however, I felt that we missed some important parts that we wanted to see. I was also disappointed that our tour did not include the terrace houses in Ephesus; I assumed it would be as this was a private tour. Be sure to specifically ask for that part of the tour if you want to see them, which you will. At the end of the tour of the sites, we discovered why we were rushed: tours to the carpet cooperative and leather store. This part was our biggest issue with our tour. At the carpet cooperative, we liked the tour and learning about the cooperative and seeing how the carpets are made, but we felt very pressured to purchase a carpet. We spent nearly two hours at the cooperative, and every time we said we did not want to purchase the carpets, we were countered with another lower offer and comments about the need to purchase a carpet that can only be purchased in Turkey. They (the salesman and our tour guide) did not want to take no for an answer. The leather shop salespersons were not so intimidating, but we still spent about an hour in this shop browsing and trying on very expensive leather coats, for which we were not in the market. Then at the end of the tour, since we had not purchased anything, our tour guide took us to his brother's shop (across the street from the Ephesus Shuttle office), where we again were treated to the carpet show and sales tactics. If you are in the market for Turkish carpets and leather goods, this probably would not bother you, but since we wanted the tour just to experience the sites of Kusadasi and Ephesus, our tour ended on a rather disappointing and stressful note. All of this to say, be very clear and specific with your tour guide and when booking about what you want out of your tour.
